  • teams of cops sent out to protect the park from .. what? meanwhile, across town....

  • Wow. Lots of protests going on in and around Asheville. I have a video on my channel of another loud group of protesters protesting the Keystone Oil Pipeline project in front of Bank of America. I guess they're really passionate because they're very loud!

  • THE POLICE ARE NO LONGER PROTECTING U.S.

  • PEOPLE FORGET ITS THE POLICE JOB TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE.....THE VETS JOB WHEN ACTIVE TO PROTECT THE USA.....VETS DESERVE A CERTAIN LEVEL OF RESPECT..........POLICE HAVE TO UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION HANDS DOWN.......WHY?? BECAUSE ITS THE FIRST LAW not laws that twist there meaning.........

  • Evolution THROUGH REVOLUTION

  • Fellow occupiers, thank you for your vigilance. It is much appreciated. As to the trolls that insist upon remaining ignorant: I came up with this phrase just the other day, "The words of a fool are quickly dismissed by the wise".

The trolls are already frustrated by their lack on understanding. Ignoring them will only increase their frustration, and---weak as they are---they will go away, OR they will take the time to learn and discover the truth.

  • You have the freedom to shut up and obey PIGS

  • So, if this is a free country, then the right to freely assemble is guaranteed. In addition, if any of you detractors had any balls you would stand up for your own right to assemble by supporting these people. The entire purpose of this is to point out the fact that free expression has been taken away from us; that laws that stifle free speech have been created. The constitution clearly states that NO laws that impinge of free speech shall be created. No such thing as permit to exercise rights.

  • @KarmicEQ

Are you thick in the head? Let me explain it again for you. Listen up and let it sink in.

Our Supreme Court has established that local governments CAN issue "time, place, or manner" restrictions on public speech and assembly. Such restrictions must be "content-neutral" and serve a legitimate government interest. A late night curfew for a public park is well within the law and does not violate our Constitution.

    Do you get it now??

  • @krag30 We don't care for your curtailing of freedom. "Supreme" curtailing of rights or not.

  • @steveaustin71

That is the point. It is NOT a curtailing of your rights. It is protections of the rights of ALL citizens. Curfews and rules on overnight camping serve to preserve and protect the park for ALL citizens. Your political views DO NOT give you the right to abuse your fellow citizens.

  • @krag30 No one is being "abused" they MAY be inconvenienced. Small price to pay. Either way, its not going to be the cities decision. This isn't going away.

  • @steveaustin71

You say "Small price to pay." How very arrogant of you. Perhaps it should be up to those "other" people to decide what is a small price for them.

As far as it being "the cities decision", the elected government of the city represents the people. Their decision IS the people's decision. You don't like the rules they put in place, elect someone else.

  • @krag30 Cry me a river. The occupations will continue. The "people" can support or move out of the way. Its not going away. The elections are a joke until the big money isn't allowed to buy policy. The most the city or police can do is arrest a few here and there and release them hours later. The more violence they use, the more people will come. Arrogant is thinking you can stop people from trying to make a difference because you can't use ONE park. You can't stop us. Get used to it.

  • @steveaustin71

Then it is a good time for liberal application of pepper-spray and tear gas. Here is a good video showing how police should be taking care of this. See youtube.com/watch?v=9hIIuJK_Uh8

Great work by those police officers!!!

  • @krag30 And what did it accomplish? It made the public angry at police (and decreased police safety) and in EVERY instance, police violence has grown the protests. So ya, Great work cops! You are our biggest supporters!

  • @steveaustin71

Actually, it had the opposite effect. The local public was growing more and more sick of the ignorant antics of the port "protesters". Here is another good video showing police doing some good work in Olympia, Washington. See youtube.com/watch?v=FTx4lNFADCw

  • @krag30 The only reason the crackdowns are happening now is the almost 3 billion dollars that have left the big banks and gone into local credit unions in the last few weeks. The Banks are NOT happy and have been lobbying for the end of #occupy. The support for the movement is growing, as evidenced by the growing numbers at the camps. I moved ALL my assets and now donate 10% weekly to #occupy. Not going away. Get used to it.

  • @steveaustin71

Portland occuscum has been cleared out of the parks there so that the parks department can clean up the filth, garbage, and other assorted trash left by the occuscum.

  • @krag30 They have regrouped at Pioneer park and will return shortly. Haven't you been paying attention? There are MORE now. It will happen every time.

  • @steveaustin71

And if the police were permitted to do their job, the occuscum would be moved out or there also. The police still have pepper-spray, tear-gas, and a host of other neat things to use. And your normal person in Portland is growing more and more sick of these ignorant brats of the occuscum movement. Especially when occuscum is blocking the streets and prevents them from going where they need to go.

  • @krag30 By "normal" person you of course mean people that agree with you. Fail. Keep watching little man. You will see why the people that actually stand up always get more done than the ones that do not. We'll make 3 billion into 10 billion moved to local credit unions. And we'll not let corporate crime out of the news or off of peoples minds. You can sit home and criticize the folks that actually DO something. Your welcome. Now kindly go back to your television.

  • Yup, The police are the biggest supporters of #occupy. Every time they do this, more people come. They make the movement stronger, and endanger their fellow officers by causing animosity in the community. GREAT JOB! Nothing they know how to do will end it. There IS a simple way to make it go away, but they will never be able to resist violence and as such will just continue to help us.

  • I am a veteran of 20 years service and I see no problem with obeying a curfew law in a public park. Also, I am certain that no veteran of any unit I was in would be carrying a defaced U.S. flag like you see in this video. They are staging (and staging is the correct word to use here) this "vigil for veterans" simply for show and using it as a reason to confront the police. These people need fewer "mike checks" and more brain checks.

  • How much money are you costing the taxpayers in Buncombe County?

  • That's really sad...to be unable to hold a vigil for the fallen on Armistice Day, of all things. Of course I can't speak for all vets everywhere, but most of the ones I know, and most of the ones I know of, did not fight for their country so that things like this could be imposed on its citizens.

This reminds me of 1919 when MacArthur and his cavalry rampage through an assembly of homeless veterans who were protesting for Vets' Rights at the White House. Shameful periods of U.S. history.

  • @shanemayhem

Our Supreme Court has established that local governments CAN issue "time, place, or manner" restrictions on public speech and assembly. Such restrictions must be "content-neutral" and serve a legitimate government interest. A late night curfew for a public park is well within the law and does not violate our Constitution.

They are staging this "vigil for veterans" simply for show and using it as a reason to confront the police. Conflict is their goal.

  • @krag30 Is it an Amendment? I'm not necessarily of the opinion that just because the Supreme Court has ruled on something that it is perfectly Constitutional, but I'm aware that's my opinion, based on philosophies of greater v. lesser morality. Thanks for clarifying, at any rate.

  • @krag30 However, I still don't think you can say that people staging a vigil have conflict as their goal. Because conflict HAS arisen, doesn't mean that was their intent.

  • 1775 is coming again

  • please police! beat the hell out of these people and so called vets

  • @photoguyhudson No Let Freedom reign.

  • In all fairness, this group did announce on the local news earlier in the day that they were aware of the curfew. The location is in a city-run park, and the curfew is to deter vagrancy, NOT to interfere with out right to assemble. The city does offer permits for those that wish to assemble in such a fashion. Not saying it was right or wrong.... just offering some info that isn't in the video.

  • Grown-ups Have a Curfew in USA??? Why??? #FIXTHISNOW!

  • @no1childofgod I know I was thinking we lived in a Free State.

  • So the message from the police is that they are now going to target veterans because they stood up for the people?????
