I always knew Peter new what he was talking about, but know I also have to give him credit for being really funny, I was laughing my ass off...lol sad but true that people like Krugman exist...so sad
dude, someone actually uploaded a vid about firefighters given a manual with a chapter related to ufos and how to deal with aliens (video titled fema preparing for ufo invasion, though no mention of fema). that was aired sometime last year. but i wonder if that story and this one are related? is this krugman jackass gonna stage some sort of cold war against alien invaders? peter, you could copyright it and write a scipt for a movie about this, lol. make it a comedy
The problem with Aliens is that they control space and time. You can't hide. Aliens are going to invade this planet when we ammased a lot of gold. And, this is what we do right now, we mine gold. That is the only explantion why gold is so expensive.
@MsH1h1h1h1 wtf, what are you an abductee/ufo insider? next time you talk it up with the coneheads tell em i'll trade my car for a hoverboard if they got one
Yeah, so where the fuck is my Economic Nobel? I'm more economically literate than Krugman is, and Krugman got a Nobel. Oh wait!! We need to stimulate Nobel prize winners by subsidizing the people who award the Nobels and giving potential Nobel winners a stimulus package!!! This will create more Nobel winners and I can get the Nobel that I rightfully deserve!!!!
By the way, if you took a word of that seriously, kill yourself. Paul Krugman is a total fool. Someone revoke his Nobel already.
Somebody needs to do a cartoon of this that gets played while peter speaks in the background narrating Krugman's stupid ideas so that we can get the visuals of aliens coming down and underground cities and Krugman wearing a spandex superman outfit with an E on it. that would be hilarious.
Ohhh I feel so sad for Mr Krugman. Hes obviously under a lot of stress and needs to rest a couple of years in a mental institution. Hope youll get well soon Mr Krugman. Best wishes.
Oh man we got all that soo wrong. USA killed Bin Laden for terrorism but maaan... He was just trying to stimulate economic growth and job creation in New York what an awesome guy he was...
@EdR77203 Easy, There is no such thing. The award he got was made up [created] in 1969, in memory of Nobel. It is not a Nobel Prize, although they want you to think it is. It would be like if I started a award for Alchemy, and named it the gringott award for Alchemy in memory of Nobel. Would that now be the Nobel Prize for Alchemy? Of course not.
@jeffiek But the first one is rather odd. On what exactly do you base such a statement that nothing new can be created? And even in some weird universe that might be the case, what makes you think that violence would be the only way to change that situation? So because your alternatives aren't defined correctly, your whole argument is now invalid.
@dilic "On what exactly do you base such a statement that nothing new can be created? "
A five-year old can figure that one out. Unless this new item appears EVERYWHERE and in SUFFICIENT quantities, SIMULTANEOUSLY, this new item cannot be introduced without switching to my second claim ( which you already agreed to ). Maybe you know of a non-violent way to stop people from creating new items, I don't. PRESENT IT.
Your ignorance does not invalidate my argument. Especially coming from a liar.
@jeffiek youre so stuck in your materialistic world you cant imagine a world without it. you keep thinking in old ways that were taught to people in a total different world. All that Mises and free market economics stuff might be the case an age ago, but we can now see and very well observe that this capitalistic system is seriously outdated. And please don't give me the free market speech, and how the US hasnt had a system like that in 100 years. If RBE is utopia than what is a "free market"?
@dilic I just realized you might be right. You're supposedly a physicist. Maybe you know of some new state of matter that simultaneously exists in both sufficient and insufficient quantities. In that case you would be right, I would have missed a condition.
However, I typically dismiss MAGIC from my logical proofs.
@jeffiek on a final note. I know my last post to you did not contain very useful arguments, but it just would be very time-consuming to explain my thoughts about the matter in a short comment. That's Why I suggest we for now just agree to disagree. I think time and new world events will eventually decide who's right and who's wrong. Until than at least try to think in terms of solutions so we can make this world a better place some day. Does at least that sound good to you?
Seriously, if humans are still around when the aliens do show up with their technology, we're done. Since Krugman loves Twilight Zone so much, maybe we should start mass producing harmonicas & telling tall tales.
Keynesians never ceast to amaze me. War is good for the economy is it? if that's the case why didnt we just stay in the dark ages and slaughter eachother we would have economic superiority by now!
To sum it up. Money is worthless, Gold is worthless. Only Energy is natures true currency. We have to harvest all kinds of energy without destroying the ecosystem. But Austrians and keynians dont like ecosystems. Money and investment are of higher value to them
@Xasew They are as worthless as faith. But faith has consequences for your behaviour and so has money. As economists say: they have no intrinsic value.
But the main problem I see with money is that we made a big mistake by converting money from a medium of exchange into a "good" and sometimes even a "god". If you allow money to be made from nothing with the promise to pay it back with interest in the future you open up pandoras box. This opens the door to exponential growth. And that is a bad.
@Xasew There is nothing inherently wrong with fractional reserve lending.
What's wrong with today's version is that the ( 1 - fraction ) that is lent out is just funny money. Created out of thin air.
Were it actual money, there would be no problem. Banks would simply be acting as a "loan consolidator". People loan them small amounts, they consolidate it and loan out big amounts.
Fractional-reserve banking combined with demand deposits automatically leads to the creation of new money by the banks. So in my view if the creation of new money by the banks is seen as a problem, then one should favor 100% reserves on demand deposits(and economically identical deposits). At least that's my position.
100 people start a bank by depositing $10K each. The bank makes a loan to a business of $900K, maintaining $100K reserve.
The people can continue making deposits/withdrawals at random times in random amounts suitable for daily transactions. The exact amount of the reserve will vary.
There it is in black and white. Fractional reserve, demand deposits, no money creation.
100 people have $10 000 in the bank. The business receives a loan of $900 000.
100*10 000+900 000=1 900 000
Original amount deposited was 100*10 000 or 1 000 000, so that additional 900 000 was indeed loaned into existence. This is monetary economics 101. Any textbook on this subject will confirm what I just said.
@Xasew 100 people start a bank by depositing $10K each. The bank makes a loan to a business of $900K, maintaining $100K reserve.

We can choose between wackos from the right wing tea party and the liberal aliens? I didn't want to believe Peter but he is right again. Poor Krugmann, I was with him on all other topics but this is insane even as a metaphor.
@pcuimac Energy has no more or less value than anything else. Labor is the root of all value and wealth, all else stems from time and effort expended (labor) to gather resources and turn them into useable products. What gives energy its value is that it allows humans to produce more by utilizing sources of energy to in effect produce even more labor.
@mersk100 Humans are produced by a process called evolution and selfreplication far from the equilibrium. So we all are alive because of energy and natural processes driven by it. The energy comes mainly from the sun.
Ask any physicist. The main driver of "production" is energy dissipation and the rule of increasing entropy. Decrease of entropy like humand bodys are only possible if somewhere else the entropy is going up. The sun gets that entropy increase. Human labor is not the main factor.
Maybe we can destroy the aliens with Justin Bieber songs, in case the country music does not do the trick? :D
And now the "scientists" at NASA have come up with a report suggesting aliens might attack us because of our greenhouse gas emission and climate change! Google search for “ET will kill us because global warming will tip them off that we are a bad species”
It really seems like being a looney left can seriously damage your brain!
Some great idea (such as the airplane) seemed crackpot to most people at first, but Krugman's ideas really are crackpot and always will seem so. To believe Krugman, we have to believe that an efficient and robust economy can be built upon extremely irrational and unhealthy activity, if that activity is coerced and sufficiently massive. But, no, that's not how healthy economies (or markets) are created; nor is it how they are driven.
God loves you, and Jesus Christ is the way to Him. Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the 3rd day so that all who believe in Him will be saved from Hell and have eternal life. Eternal life is a free gift from God to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
This whole shit is going down anyway, sooner or later. A solution to the problems we will now and the future will face could perhaps be solved by an whole different approach called a "Resouce Based Economy"... To understand what that actually means look up on youtube the popular Zeitgeist documentaries. I think a lot of people on this forum would find this very interesting.
@mersk100 Tyrany?... Dont talk to me about tyrany. I bet all those people whove been through war (including myself) think this current system pretty tyrant.... So please try to understand certain ideas first, before you write them off right from the bat. It's always very easy to criticize something, but its much and much more difficult to come up with a solution for something you might think wont work.
But in your case I even doubt you even have really contructive critisism.
@dilic Well, I understand that BOTH this system AND TZM are tyrannical.
The current system we can observe. TZM we need to predict, and this is easy. Simple proof by contradiction shows it cannot succeed. How it will fail is unknown. That it will fail is guaranteed.
"simple proof by contradiction shows it cannot succeed." Hmm, now we're actually talking. Please enlighten me. What kind of contradictions exactly? You apparently have done your homework. However, you can't possibly tell me that a resourced based economy would be worse than the current one. In that case I really can't take you serious anymore.
OK, I'll take you at your word. Your mind is closed to objective proof. You won't accept any rational arguments. Logically, it is pointless for me to provide any.
This is not uncommon. Some believe in invisible beings in the sky, some believe the stars in the sky control their lives. Some believe snake-oil salesmen.
@jeffiek well excuse me for my broken grammar sometimes. English is not my first language. But to get to your point, how do you know my mind is closed to objective and rational arguments when you haven't even come up with any? I'm a physicist, if somebody is open to objective proof than most certainly I am! So what about those arguments? You're not backing out now, are you?
1) Sufficient supplies of EVERYTHING will be available. Nothing new can be created ( newly created items are limited ). However, the only way to stop change is with violence.
Or:
2) Insufficient supplies result in people with different posessions. Trade (money) is the result of such imbalances.
You told me so - "...you can't possibly tell me..." , but since you responded...
TZM asserts no money AND no violence ( either is possible, but not both )
No money means no trade ( by definition, money is the most commonly traded commodity ). Goods will be distributed by (and returned to) "distribution centers".
@jeffiek I wouldnt call that a sign of a closed mind. By that same logic Einsteins mind is also "closed" because he concluded it is not possible to move faster than the speed of light. He had very good arguments to make such assumptions. The reason I say that a resource based economy cant be worse than the current system is because of coldhard statistics. Every day 30.000 children die from hunger and easily preventable diseases. 1% of the worlds populatioon owns 40% of it;s resources. (part 1)
@jeffiek 40% lives on less than 2$ a day. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to understand that something is very fucked up here. You can either ignore all this horror and povery and continue on the same road with the same sets of values, or you could try to think in solutions to makes this world a sustainable and better place for all human beings and animals. Whether that it through a resource based economy or monetary based economy, I dont care. If you prefer the monetary one, (part 2)
@jeffiek than try to make it sustainable through finding solutions. Because like I said earlier, its always very easy to critisize something or somebody. But to come up with solutions or constructive crisitism is a whole different ballgame. To deliver solutions or constructive critisism you actually have to do research and push yourself to the limit. I also understand that the most people dont have time to do such things because of their busy lives, work or children. (part 3)
@jeffiek But the least you could do is offer support to the work of people who actually are putting their time in finding solutions. In my opinion that is a form of respect. If I would at my job bash peoples work without solutions or constructive critisism, I would get fired the same day and I would damn well deserve it. (part 4)
@mersk100 I know, they don't bother me. Nothing more than a bunch of kids.
dilic made four replies to me. Even a cursory reading showed three logical fallacies. But that's life. Like I said, some people believe in invisible men in the sky, some that the stars control them, and some in snake-oil salesmen.
@jeffiek That's a typical tactic of these fruit loops. Their forum is full of suggestions on how to debate online. Ignore things, throw out the thought stopping lines, change the subject. Same tactics cults have used for years.
@jeffiek you claim that: no money AND no violence arent possible to coexist. Without proof of such a statement thats no argument.
Furthermore, no money means indeed no trade. But who gives a fuck about trade? You're not thinking out of the box. The only reason trade existed was because there was a lot of scarcity. In an abundant society Why would somebody want to trade? The last two so-called contradictions were problems communism dealt with. RBE is not communism.
@jeffiek you said: "1) Sufficient supplies of EVERYTHING will be available. Nothing new can be created ( newly created items are limited ). However, the only way to stop change is with violence."
It's very cute of you trying to use the proof by contradiction argument here. But if you want to use such an argument make sure you define your alternatives correctly. Because in this case they clearly are not. Your second alternative is very true, I have no comments on that.
@dilic How can central planners direct the economy (read: individual's actions) with a tyrannical bureaucracy? What mechanisms to sort does this TZM system have? Name them. How can people calculate with freely floating prices that convey millions of bits of disparate information? What is it that you thing prices do? What feedback mechanisms are there with TZM?
You should do a lot more reading of economics. It would then be clear why TZM will fail. It's just neo-Marxism.
@dilic Tyrany? Look the first thing you do is try to tell me what to say LOL, how typical. TZM is a collectivit ideal. It has nothing to do with liberty, has nothing to do with commodity based monetary systems. It's a rehash of the same old utopian crap that has been floating around for years.
Listen to you whine about crticisim, LOL too funny, not only are you a utopian dreamer, but a lying hypocrite as well. Go sell your snake oil to a marxist.
@mersk100 I didn't tell you what to say, I just told you to be careful in what you say. Very big difference.
But to get to your point, you call this "constructive" criticism? "TZM is a collectivit ideal. It has nothing to do with liberty, has nothing to do with commodity based monetary systems. It's a rehash of the same old utopian crap that has been floating around for years."
Haha liberty! Please don't make me laugh, what kind of fucked up idea of liberty do you have? (part 1)
@dilic "Tyrany?... Dont talk to me about tyrany" You did attempt to tell me what to say, you liar. Your childish attempts at trying to turn tables is laughable. Much less you can't stick to the topic at hand. You're silly crap belo is attempting to frame what my argument or position is, when I have said nothing but TZM is utter garbage.
In short, you don't tell me what to say, or attempt to tell me what I have said. You're a typical TZM cult member fruit loop.
@mersk100 Hahaha. Still cant resist the namecalling and fallacies, huh? Just shows how backward, uneducated and unsophisticated society and people still are. You can't have a normal civilised converstaion anymore that is based around (fallacy proof) arguments.
Did I really crushed your ego so badly when I said "dont tell me about tyrany"? I didnt meant that in a ordering way but instead a "you dont know what you're talking about"-way... Because I bet you havent been through war like I have.
@dilic ROFL, don't flater your self cult boy. I've debated you fruit loops for more than a year and it is the same old crap. I throw insults at you and your ilk because you've lost any credibility and respect in my view. If you don't like it, too fucking bad - TZM is a cult, you don't like it being pointed out, cry more.
@mersk100 I've lost your credibility and respect for what reason exactly? Instead of calling me names you could instead try to enlighten me with your conclusions about the many "debates" you've had the past year. That's what civilised and educated people do in a discussion, instead of throwing insults at me and calling me "cult boy" when its obvious you don't understand the definition of it. Let's let the amount of thumbs up decide whos right and who's wrong.
@dilic Because you're a TZM cult member, spouting the RBE fantasy. As for why I don't bother to debate you, because I know you'll just throw out the same old TZM/VP crap that has been debunked numerous times.
As for the thumbs up, LOL, give me a break. A bunch of thumbs up from the anonymous internet means nothing. I'm sure you'll run off to the TZM forums and ask for support.
@mersk100 you call that a legit reason to refuse a debate with someone? If your English teacher would found out about these kinds of fallacies that you're using, I think your high-school diploma wouldn't be valid anymore. You like a true American believe in the "free market" and the American dream, right? If you don't believe a RBE would work, than what are your thoughts to solve all our current problems? I mean, somebody who's so anti-RBE, must at least have a better solution, right, right?
@dilic Yes, it's a legit reason. All I have to do is read what you're posting in this thread with others, to see that you use the same stupid arguments the rest of the TZM fruit loops use.
As for a free market, yes, a truely free scociety and market. The US has not had a free market for nearly 100 years now. Of course if you knew anything about economics other than what that charlatan peter from TZM told you, you'd know this already.
@mersk100 And one more last thing, I think you should look up the definition of "cult", it only makes you look even more dumb. Yet it another example of your namecalling that shows how uneducated you are. Start reading for christ sake.... Speaking of Christ and religion, now that is a true example of a cult. I bet that's more your cup of tea... ;)
@mersk100 Getting up every morning to sell dumb pointless shit so you could pay off your mortgage? Is that really "liberty"? If that is so than I don't want it. Instead of thinking in terms of old outdated values, try to think out-of-the-box for a second here. 100 years ago some group of conservative "scientists" wrote a report and concluded that it would be physical impossible to get a man or aircraft flying. You think that that impressed the Wright brothers?(part2)
@mersk100 I don't think so because they didn't let old grumpy men get to them with their pessimism and emotional arguments. Guess who you are in this story, and who would you rather be in 100 years from now? A fresh mind with an outofthebox attitude or a grumpy old guy with an attitude? Calling me names puts you immediately to the second, because at that point you are not objective and rational anymore but rather emotional. Think about it. (part3)
@dilic You are setting up a false choice between today's economic systems and TZM. Austrians don't like the collectivists systems currenty in place either. TZM is just one more collectivist system. We don't have anything approaching a free market in the U.S., nor is there anything like a laissez-faire system in the whole western world.
The problem with central planning is that there is that planners can't calculate. There are no feedback mechanisms. It will end in a totalitarian state.
@Xasew The calculation problem of Mises' Huh? That shit was written almost 100 years ago when we didn't even had 1% of the technology we now have, so by that logic Mises' Problem is a false argument.
But of course he concluded that it's impossible to distribute products and services efficiently and equally to the people when the source of its resources was always an issue. To prevent this in the future is the reason Why RBE promotes a global and central harvesting of all the earths resources.
@dilic Saying that something was written 100 years ago isn't an invalidation. Ideas like freedom of speech/assembly, representative systems, etc. are all far older. There has been an incredible amount of scholarship built up over centuries and real world experience to validate it showing that central planning fails.
TZM's are always talking about technology. That doesn't invalidate prinicples or objective truth. If it were simply a matter of technology we shouldn't be in a mess now.
@dilic ROFL for someone that is going to run around talking about logical fallacies, you sure do like to use fallacious arguments, right here you are using the appeal to the new, formally "Appeal to Novelty". You're out classed chump, better go back to your TZM forums where you're safe in the echo chamber.
@adrianro1001 How about Zimbabwe? They are the smartest in that continent, because they print so much money that they even stopped reporting inflation. But the most genius idea from this was that close to 70% of population had been unemployed.
THE DREAM TEAM President Ron Paul. Gov Gray Johnson should be his vice president and for a transition period Thomas Sowell or Robert Tollison to head the federal reserve. Peter Schiff economic adviser and Tom Woods would be his press secretory.
Damn. Peter makes jokes about that Jew, but that what's going to happen. You will see many strange things in the near future, some miracles, or wonders. People will assume that it will be some kind of aliens. Europe Union already created alien department.
@xMaXiMuSx You fucking jewish fucker. You had to be exterminated thousands years ago and your women had to be raped by every dude and after that she had to be washed in the toilet and killed too. You fuckers must be exterminated and sooner it will come the better. Because your fucking greed destroyed millions and your lies about holocaust is the biggest treason in history. Get a fuck out of this site fucking jewish trash.!!!!!!
@xMaXiMuSx Yes I know, & I prefer his ideas rather than racism But to be honest with you I hate them more than you can imagine. Not because they hold power but personally I had bad personal experience with them without any reason. To be honest they are the criminals #1. Not good, but when someone starts to bring anti antisemitic topic, that just make me sick from that. fraud.
Damn. Peter makes jokes about that Jew, but that what's going to happen. You will see many strange things in the near future, some miracles, or wonders. People will assume that it will be some kind of aliens. Europe Union already created alien department.
@Someideasandstuff No, it explains why fiat money and a cartel of central bankers is flawed, mixed with a bunch of Marxist talking points. Nothing at all to do with capitalism.
Make no mistake about it - Paul Krugman's unwavering ambition is to *destroy* the world. And with the complicity of Mainstream Media, he's doing a pretty good job of dispensing that Kool-Aide.
I'd like to say that every informed expert will aver that the above is simply a given. Shockingly, however, there are some - some of great power - that ally with him in his crusade to create inflation.
@decapitatespammers religious bullshit. You americans are all brainwashed by evangelical hate mongers.
You Americans spend 5 times the energy China spends with only a fifth of the population China has. That´s insane and destructive in the long run. But you are right that Krugmann is talking bullshit here. Keynsianism is bad for the brain it seems.
"If we discovered that space aliens were planning to attack...this would be over."
This has been said since around 1913. War of the Worlds radio broadcast, Ronald Reagan, It's a ploy! They've been drilling this into our heads for this one world government they want for us. Think of all of the alien movies where the people had their differences then aliens come. Everyone drops everything and magically puts their differences aside. It's bullshit. That's all it is.

This is beyond pathetic. Mr. Schiff, you should consider it your personal responsability to inform your congress leaders, and republican potential candidates to the white house, of where things stand. All you would have to do is write, once a month or so, letters informing them. Although it would cost you some money you should consider it an important PR campaign, otherwise, they might play the 'alien invasion' gamble on you. Obama and the democrats are crazy too.
Krugman's crazy as fuck. Get out of a depression by preparing for an alien invasion? Jesus Christ. Why does anyone listen to this guy.
Inflation is "anathema to Washington?!" Look at the monetary base...
Peter: Did you see Krugman's Keyne's memorial lecture where he says he just started studying macro a couple years ago and that nobody on the left even understand what Keynes was saying? Ha.
Gentlemen we are in trouble here. We need to carry a big stick, just be careful with it and not to use it adjust the unemployment figures. Treat your peasant’s dignity and you shall be rewarded. Vote Democrat.
Great video! I agree; if the so-called experts really understood the issues they’d be able to suggest solutions before the downturn events. Of course, they never do…instead they come in after the fact with their egos overflowing and offer their 2-cents. I’m not trying to mean, but you could train a chimp to come in after the fact and spew suggestions. lol
Seems to me aliens are taking over the planet. It's brilliant actually. Setup an entire Economic "Science" based around the idea that printing money leads to prosperity. There's no need for invasion when we destroy our own capital, technology and morality.
I'm not sure, but I think Krugman might actually be an alien propagandist ;)
Can someone please tell him to look up the broken window fallacy?
When will people understand that it's not the amount of money/assets being spent that is important - but the amount that is being spent toward a more efficient and productive end?
If I got my Econ degree from Princeton I would be forced to mail it back from the amount of shame I would feel from ever taking a class from this assclown.
@BRINK00 Of course they wouldn't care whether or not the spending is efficient, the money bureaucrats spend is not theirs. Politicians will be successful so long as the statistics look good, bureaucrats are not paid by commission related to the well-being of the toiling multitude, surly the efficiency let along the impact on general populace of the spending they direct won't be take into account unless people can't even make ends meet and finally realized there is something wrong.
To be fair, I don't think Krugman was being serious about the alien invasion. He was merely reiterating how he sees fiscal stimulus as important and how it wouldn't really matter how we achieved it. I'm more on Peters side, but he is attacking a bit of a straw-man, or at least bringing to a head what Krugman is saying.
Peters point would work without harping on the alien invasion metaphor, and I think he does himself a bit of a disservice here.
The bigger problem, which unfortunately you did not address, is that the Keynesianism is literally voodoo economics. The Keynesians conflate inflated fiat dollars with real wealth creation! To the Keynesians, their little numbers games do not just reflect reality, to them they ARE the reality, in much the same way that the witchdoctor believes he is manipulating reality by manipulating the voodoo doll.
Hey Peter the chances of 'aliens' invading are actually very high! as crazy at it sounds its very possible!
If we have the technology to scare a population into believing that 9/11 was a real terrorist attack and not a staged false flag event to get illegitimate justification to attack countries becuase american pay masters demand it, then I say its easily possible.
Most americans are dumb enough to beleive most things on cnn or fox news

@jeffiek But the first one is rather odd. On what exactly do you base such a statement that nothing new can be created? And even in some weird universe that might be the case, what makes you think that violence would be the only way to change that situation? So because your alternatives aren't defined correctly, your whole argument is now invalid.
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic "On what exactly do you base such a statement that nothing new can be created? "
A five-year old can figure that one out. Unless this new item appears EVERYWHERE and in SUFFICIENT quantities, SIMULTANEOUSLY, this new item cannot be introduced without switching to my second claim ( which you already agreed to ). Maybe you know of a non-violent way to stop people from creating new items, I don't. PRESENT IT.
Your ignorance does not invalidate my argument. Especially coming from a liar.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek youre so stuck in your materialistic world you cant imagine a world without it. you keep thinking in old ways that were taught to people in a total different world. All that Mises and free market economics stuff might be the case an age ago, but we can now see and very well observe that this capitalistic system is seriously outdated. And please don't give me the free market speech, and how the US hasnt had a system like that in 100 years. If RBE is utopia than what is a "free market"?
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic I just realized you might be right. You're supposedly a physicist. Maybe you know of some new state of matter that simultaneously exists in both sufficient and insufficient quantities. In that case you would be right, I would have missed a condition.
However, I typically dismiss MAGIC from my logical proofs.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek on a final note. I know my last post to you did not contain very useful arguments, but it just would be very time-consuming to explain my thoughts about the matter in a short comment. That's Why I suggest we for now just agree to disagree. I think time and new world events will eventually decide who's right and who's wrong. Until than at least try to think in terms of solutions so we can make this world a better place some day. Does at least that sound good to you?

WarrivarNeo 6 months ago
To sum it up. Money is worthless, Gold is worthless. Only Energy is natures true currency. We have to harvest all kinds of energy without destroying the ecosystem. But Austrians and keynians dont like ecosystems. Money and investment are of higher value to them
pcuimac 6 months ago
@pcuimac
Money and gold have market prices; they can't be worthless.
Xasew 6 months ago
@Xasew They are as worthless as faith. But faith has consequences for your behaviour and so has money. As economists say: they have no intrinsic value.
But the main problem I see with money is that we made a big mistake by converting money from a medium of exchange into a "good" and sometimes even a "god". If you allow money to be made from nothing with the promise to pay it back with interest in the future you open up pandoras box. This opens the door to exponential growth. And that is a bad.
pcuimac 6 months ago
@pcuimac
All value is subjective. So a good economist would say that nothing has "intrinsic" value.
A medium of exchange has to be a good by definition.
"If you allow money to be made from nothing..."
I wouldn't allow that.
"...exponential growth."
Is exponential growth bad? Is interest the cause of this growth? Or just interest combined with fractional reserve banking(money out of nothing)?
I've seen similar arguments before. They are confused and worthless.
Xasew 6 months ago
@Xasew There is nothing inherently wrong with fractional reserve lending.
What's wrong with today's version is that the ( 1 - fraction ) that is lent out is just funny money. Created out of thin air.
Were it actual money, there would be no problem. Banks would simply be acting as a "loan consolidator". People loan them small amounts, they consolidate it and loan out big amounts.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek
"Created out of thin air."
Fractional-reserve banking combined with demand deposits automatically leads to the creation of new money by the banks. So in my view if the creation of new money by the banks is seen as a problem, then one should favor 100% reserves on demand deposits(and economically identical deposits). At least that's my position.
Xasew 6 months ago
@Xasew
Fractional reserve, demand deposits, no money creation.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek
Xasew 6 months ago

pcuimac 6 months ago
@pcuimac Energy has no more or less value than anything else. Labor is the root of all value and wealth, all else stems from time and effort expended (labor) to gather resources and turn them into useable products. What gives energy its value is that it allows humans to produce more by utilizing sources of energy to in effect produce even more labor.
mersk100 6 months ago
@mersk100 Humans are produced by a process called evolution and selfreplication far from the equilibrium. So we all are alive because of energy and natural processes driven by it. The energy comes mainly from the sun.
Ask any physicist. The main driver of "production" is energy dissipation and the rule of increasing entropy. Decrease of entropy like humand bodys are only possible if somewhere else the entropy is going up. The sun gets that entropy increase. Human labor is not the main factor.

@dilic You're kidding right? TZM is a collectivist dream land. It will lead to tyrany like every other attempt at such utopias.
mersk100 6 months ago
@mersk100 Tyrany?... Dont talk to me about tyrany. I bet all those people whove been through war (including myself) think this current system pretty tyrant.... So please try to understand certain ideas first, before you write them off right from the bat. It's always very easy to criticize something, but its much and much more difficult to come up with a solution for something you might think wont work.
But in your case I even doubt you even have really contructive critisism.
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic Well, I understand that BOTH this system AND TZM are tyrannical.
The current system we can observe. TZM we need to predict, and this is easy. Simple proof by contradiction shows it cannot succeed. How it will fail is unknown. That it will fail is guaranteed.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek
"simple proof by contradiction shows it cannot succeed." Hmm, now we're actually talking. Please enlighten me. What kind of contradictions exactly? You apparently have done your homework. However, you can't possibly tell me that a resourced based economy would be worse than the current one. In that case I really can't take you serious anymore.
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic "...you can't possibly tell me..."
Enjoy your fantasy.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek well excuse me for my broken grammar sometimes. English is not my first language. But to get to your point, how do you know my mind is closed to objective and rational arguments when you haven't even come up with any? I'm a physicist, if somebody is open to objective proof than most certainly I am! So what about those arguments? You're not backing out now, are you?
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic Either:
1) Sufficient supplies of EVERYTHING will be available. Nothing new can be created ( newly created items are limited ). However, the only way to stop change is with violence.
Or:
2) Insufficient supplies result in people with different posessions. Trade (money) is the result of such imbalances.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@dilic "how do you know my mind is closed"
You told me so - "...you can't possibly tell me..." , but since you responded...
TZM asserts no money AND no violence ( either is possible, but not both )
No money means no trade ( by definition, money is the most commonly traded commodity ). Goods will be distributed by (and returned to) "distribution centers".
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek I wouldnt call that a sign of a closed mind. By that same logic Einsteins mind is also "closed" because he concluded it is not possible to move faster than the speed of light. He had very good arguments to make such assumptions. The reason I say that a resource based economy cant be worse than the current system is because of coldhard statistics. Every day 30.000 children die from hunger and easily preventable diseases. 1% of the worlds populatioon owns 40% of it;s resources. (part 1)
dilic 6 months ago
@jeffiek 40% lives on less than 2$ a day. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to understand that something is very fucked up here. You can either ignore all this horror and povery and continue on the same road with the same sets of values, or you could try to think in solutions to makes this world a sustainable and better place for all human beings and animals. Whether that it through a resource based economy or monetary based economy, I dont care. If you prefer the monetary one, (part 2)
dilic 6 months ago
@jeffiek than try to make it sustainable through finding solutions. Because like I said earlier, its always very easy to critisize something or somebody. But to come up with solutions or constructive crisitism is a whole different ballgame. To deliver solutions or constructive critisism you actually have to do research and push yourself to the limit. I also understand that the most people dont have time to do such things because of their busy lives, work or children. (part 3)
dilic 6 months ago
@jeffiek But the least you could do is offer support to the work of people who actually are putting their time in finding solutions. In my opinion that is a form of respect. If I would at my job bash peoples work without solutions or constructive critisism, I would get fired the same day and I would damn well deserve it. (part 4)

dilic made four replies to me. Even a cursory reading showed three logical fallacies. But that's life. Like I said, some people believe in invisible men in the sky, some that the stars control them, and some in snake-oil salesmen.

jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek Almost forgot, with all that excess verbiage, dilic NEVER REFUTED my proof by contradiction.
Guess he accepts it, but continues on with his fantasy.
jeffiek 6 months ago
@jeffiek That's a typical tactic of these fruit loops. Their forum is full of suggestions on how to debate online. Ignore things, throw out the thought stopping lines, change the subject. Same tactics cults have used for years.
mersk100 6 months ago
@jeffiek you claim that: no money AND no violence arent possible to coexist. Without proof of such a statement thats no argument.
Furthermore, no money means indeed no trade. But who gives a fuck about trade? You're not thinking out of the box. The only reason trade existed was because there was a lot of scarcity. In an abundant society Why would somebody want to trade? The last two so-called contradictions were problems communism dealt with. RBE is not communism.
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic "Without proof of such a statement thats no argument."
I did give proof. It's called proof by contradiction. So you're clearly a liar. The physicist bit is still open.
"no money means indeed no trade."
Therefor you agree that the second alternative in my proof by contradiction is TRUE.
Now, its up to YOU to show how sufficient supplies of EVERYTHING is possible, or accept the TZM is crap.
jeffiek 6 months ago

It's just neo-Marxism.
joepeeler34 6 months ago
@dilic Tyrany? Look the first thing you do is try to tell me what to say LOL, how typical. TZM is a collectivit ideal. It has nothing to do with liberty, has nothing to do with commodity based monetary systems. It's a rehash of the same old utopian crap that has been floating around for years.

Haha liberty! Please don't make me laugh, what kind of fucked up idea of liberty do you have? (part 1)

mersk100 6 months ago
@mersk100 I've lost your credibility and respect for what reason exactly? Instead of calling me names you could instead try to enlighten me with your conclusions about the many "debates" you've had the past year. That's what civilised and educated people do in a discussion, instead of throwing insults at me and calling me "cult boy" when its obvious you don't understand the definition of it. Let's let the amount of thumbs up decide whos right and who's wrong.
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic Because you're a TZM cult member, spouting the RBE fantasy. As for why I don't bother to debate you, because I know you'll just throw out the same old TZM/VP crap that has been debunked numerous times.
As for the thumbs up, LOL, give me a break. A bunch of thumbs up from the anonymous internet means nothing. I'm sure you'll run off to the TZM forums and ask for support.
mersk100 6 months ago
@mersk100 you call that a legit reason to refuse a debate with someone? If your English teacher would found out about these kinds of fallacies that you're using, I think your high-school diploma wouldn't be valid anymore. You like a true American believe in the "free market" and the American dream, right? If you don't believe a RBE would work, than what are your thoughts to solve all our current problems? I mean, somebody who's so anti-RBE, must at least have a better solution, right, right?
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic Yes, it's a legit reason. All I have to do is read what you're posting in this thread with others, to see that you use the same stupid arguments the rest of the TZM fruit loops use.
As for a free market, yes, a truely free scociety and market. The US has not had a free market for nearly 100 years now. Of course if you knew anything about economics other than what that charlatan peter from TZM told you, you'd know this already.
mersk100 6 months ago
@mersk100 And one more last thing, I think you should look up the definition of "cult", it only makes you look even more dumb. Yet it another example of your namecalling that shows how uneducated you are. Start reading for christ sake.... Speaking of Christ and religion, now that is a true example of a cult. I bet that's more your cup of tea... ;)

mersk100 6 months ago
@mersk100 Getting up every morning to sell dumb pointless shit so you could pay off your mortgage? Is that really "liberty"? If that is so than I don't want it. Instead of thinking in terms of old outdated values, try to think out-of-the-box for a second here. 100 years ago some group of conservative "scientists" wrote a report and concluded that it would be physical impossible to get a man or aircraft flying. You think that that impressed the Wright brothers?(part2)
dilic 6 months ago
@mersk100 I don't think so because they didn't let old grumpy men get to them with their pessimism and emotional arguments. Guess who you are in this story, and who would you rather be in 100 years from now? A fresh mind with an outofthebox attitude or a grumpy old guy with an attitude? Calling me names puts you immediately to the second, because at that point you are not objective and rational anymore but rather emotional. Think about it. (part3)
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic You are setting up a false choice between today's economic systems and TZM. Austrians don't like the collectivists systems currenty in place either. TZM is just one more collectivist system. We don't have anything approaching a free market in the U.S., nor is there anything like a laissez-faire system in the whole western world.
The problem with central planning is that there is that planners can't calculate. There are no feedback mechanisms. It will end in a totalitarian state.
joepeeler34 6 months ago
@dilic
TZM still can't deal with Mises' calculation problem. So even if we ignored all the practical problems, it still couldn't work.
Xasew 6 months ago
@Xasew The calculation problem of Mises' Huh? That shit was written almost 100 years ago when we didn't even had 1% of the technology we now have, so by that logic Mises' Problem is a false argument.
But of course he concluded that it's impossible to distribute products and services efficiently and equally to the people when the source of its resources was always an issue. To prevent this in the future is the reason Why RBE promotes a global and central harvesting of all the earths resources.
dilic 6 months ago
@dilic Saying that something was written 100 years ago isn't an invalidation. Ideas like freedom of speech/assembly, representative systems, etc. are all far older. There has been an incredible amount of scholarship built up over centuries and real world experience to validate it showing that central planning fails.
TZM's are always talking about technology. That doesn't invalidate prinicples or objective truth. If it were simply a matter of technology we shouldn't be in a mess now.
joepeeler34 6 months ago
@dilic ROFL for someone that is going to run around talking about logical fallacies, you sure do like to use fallacious arguments, right here you are using the appeal to the new, formally "Appeal to Novelty".

@kessass83
well I'm not jewish, I was just stating that Peter is.. you are a stupid racist cunt!!
xMaXiMuSx 6 months ago
@xMaXiMuSx Yes I know, & I prefer his ideas rather than racism But to be honest with you I hate them more than you can imagine. Not because they hold power but personally I had bad personal experience with them without any reason. To be honest they are the criminals #1. Not good, but when someone starts to bring anti antisemitic topic, that just make me sick from that. fraud.
kessass83 6 months ago
Damn. Peter makes jokes about that Jew, but that what's going to happen. You will see many strange things in the near future, some miracles, or wonders. People will assume that it will be some kind of aliens. Europe Union already created alien department.

I also recommend the latest Zeitgeist film. It's called Moving Forward and is on youtube. More than 8 million views in about 6 months
.
Someideasandstuff 6 months ago
@Someideasandstuff Zeitgeist portrays more ignorance of economics than any political movement I've ever seen since like the 1920s.
s0beit 6 months ago
@s0beit okay, then name two things from Zeitgeist Moving Forward that you claim to be ignorance regarding economics. Just two
.
Someideasandstuff 6 months ago
@Someideasandstuff They want to do away with all forms of money and they believe they can manage resources with a super computer.
That is basically the biggest economic no-no you can ever commit.
s0beit 6 months ago
@s0beit that's the second half of the film which I don't agree with. The first half explains why capitalism is inherently flawed
.
Someideasandstuff 6 months ago
@Someideasandstuff No, it explains why fiat money and a cartel of central bankers is flawed, mixed with a bunch of Marxist talking points. Nothing at all to do with capitalism.
s0beit 6 months ago
@s0beit don't give me generalizations. Name two things from the first half of the movie that you don't agree with in Zeitgeist Moving Forward
.

Here's a good article. Check out Krugman's article from the New York Times about Rick Perry and Texas. You can google for it: "The Texas Unmiracle"
Rick Perry is a BAD IDEA
.

He is Satan. Pure and simple.
decapitatespammers 6 months ago
@decapitatespammers religious bullshit. You americans are all brainwashed by evangelical hate mongers.
You Americans spend 5 times the energy China spends with only a fifth of the population China has. That´s insane and destructive in the long run. But you are right that Krugmann is talking bullshit here. Keynsianism is bad for the brain it seems.
pcuimac 6 months ago
@pcuimac
Nonsense.. There is plenty of energy, the rest of the world should be consuming more.

There it is again.

Someone posted that CNN clip and I saw it. Wow, Krugman is fucking looney! He is just ape shit crazy.
We need less Keynsian economics and more Austrian economics. And we need politicians who will do that, we need
Ron Paul for President 2012!
a4finger 6 months ago
This is beyond pathetic. Mr. Schiff, you should consider it your personal responsability to inform your congress leaders, and republican potential candidates to the white house, of where things stand. All you would have to do is write, once a month or so, letters informing them. Although it would cost you some money you should consider it an important PR campaign, otherwise, they might play the 'alien invasion' gamble on you. Obama and the democrats are crazy too.
vamoslemingada 6 months ago
Krugman's crazy as fuck. Get out of a depression by preparing for an alien invasion? Jesus Christ. Why does anyone listen to this guy.
Inflation is "anathema to Washington?!" Look at the monetary base...
Peter: Did you see Krugman's Keyne's memorial lecture where he says he just started studying macro a couple years ago and that nobody on the left even understand what Keynes was saying? Ha.

Great video! I agree; if the so-called experts really understood the issues they’d be able to suggest solutions before the downturn events. Of course, they never do…instead they come in after the fact with their egos overflowing and offer their 2-cents. I’m not trying to mean, but you could train a chimp to come in after the fact and spew suggestions. lol

@BlackCatSaloon or the experts are just the mouthpiece of the elite who have to lie! duh its pretty obvious

Someone should tie "Economics in One Lesson" to a brick and throw it through Paul Krugman's window.
AndrewLLFrazier 6 months ago
@AndrewLLFrazier Yeah then he could stimulate the economy by getting his window fixed lol. After all, he believes in the broken window fallacy.
xtreme1002003 6 months ago
@xtreme1002003 He'll probably thank you for it.
AndrewLLFrazier 6 months ago
Krugman - the new Orson Welles - LOL.
BRINK00 6 months ago 9
@BRINK00 Of course they wouldn't care whether or not the spending is efficient, the money bureaucrats spend is not theirs. Politicians will be successful so long as the statistics look good, bureaucrats are not paid by commission related to the well-being of the toiling multitude, surly the efficiency let along the impact on general populace of the spending they direct won't be take into account unless people can't even make ends meet and finally realized there is something wrong.

I am tired of all these talking heads
thanks for your videos Peter THEY ARE GREAT
fortherichbytherich 6 months ago
To be fair, I don't think Krugman was being serious about the alien invasion. He was merely reiterating how he sees fiscal stimulus as important and how it wouldn't really matter how we achieved it. I'm more on Peters side, but he is attacking a bit of a straw-man, or at least bringing to a head what Krugman is saying.
Peters point would work without harping on the alien invasion metaphor, and I think he does himself a bit of a disservice here.
slipcurve 6 months ago
The bigger problem, which unfortunately you did not address, is that the Keynesianism is literally voodoo economics. The Keynesians conflate inflated fiat dollars with real wealth creation! To the Keynesians, their little numbers games do not just reflect reality, to them they ARE the reality, in much the same way that the witchdoctor believes he is manipulating reality by manipulating the voodoo doll.
deepfriedsammich 6 months ago
Hey Peter the chances of 'aliens' invading are actually very high! as crazy at it sounds its very possible!
If we have the technology to scare a population into believing that 9/11 was a real terrorist attack and not a staged false flag event to get illegitimate justification to attack countries becuase american pay masters demand it, then I say its easily possible.
Most americans are dumb enough to beleive most things on cnn or fox news
