  • There's going to be a VORTEX 2. The funding has been approved, but I have no idea what is going to happen and any chases are a couple of years off.

I'm trying to get into the project and hope to get in before it begins.

  • Actually there was a Project VORTEX-99 in 1998-99. They weren't as highly publicized as the original one. They deployed on May 3 but they did not get any earth-shattering data. They mainly circled 'Storm B' the storm that essentially passed west of Oklahoma City and caused the Mulhall tornado. If there's going to be a 'VORTEX 3' that would be awesome. Sign me up!

  • lol, well i hope you know, its happening tomorrow!!!!!! can't wait!!!!

  • I know. I went to the NSSL because I was passing through Oklahoma City on the way to Amarillo, TX to talk to a friend, but they wouldn't let me in because the NSSL, SPC, and NWS Norman is all one building, and it's considered a federal building (probably have other stuff in there). Pissed me off that I couldn't meet up.

Oh, I am chasing, but with 3 others. Not with V2. I'll probably see them out there, though and say hi. In fact, I've been out for about a week.
