  • Sounds good kid, keep practicing, practice holding long notes with vibrato.

All the best and keep up the great work!

    Peace~

  • i love these books, recognized the etude the second I put it one. Never heard the flute one, who plays on that one? For sax I think it's the great Eric Alexander, he phrases the best I think.

  • keep on jammin. love the flute : )

  • PORSEAAAAAA

  • How long have you been playing for?

    Just wondering :P

  • bananaanna.. have you ever seen some GREAT flutist playing? flute straight is sooo classical. there are no rules for music. i never do it to be honest! Fluting freely is the way you really get the vibe into it ;) No rule .. just you and the flute! Carry on!

  • I should first introduce that I've been playing the flute for close to ten years now. Just a little advice to you, Try holding your flute up. You will deffinitly notice a difference in your sound and in your tone. Also, You want your head to up straight. Kinking it to the side restricts the air flow which is causing other problems in your sound. You also have a strong tendency to play sharp. Try working with a tuner to solve this problem. On a positive note, your rhythm is good!

  • that´s very cool =)

  • your thumb up at the end of the tune is really ridiculous and pretentious looool !

  • sounds way better on the sax

  • hehehehe I'm a spanish sax player and also started playing jazz with this methode; althougt I think the Aebesolds methodes are better but it's only my opninion. You play so good; I like it, keep it on

  • eyyy i got this book for sax! i love the music in there - its pretty catchy and not too hard

  • thats awesome! :D i got the same book as you, i tried recording that song but it wouldnt upload for me, i have one of me playing "birds backyard" its pretty cool, youre good

  • hey well done i am impressed, i am 15 and have been playing for 8 years. there is one thing hold your flute up im sure you will feel the diffrece, it was so hard for me to keep it straight but when i start to feel the song i tend to move about anyway and express the song through my body, but it helps tone. good luck with your flute

  • Oh I LOVED IT!!!!~_^***

  • wow! three months! seriously, thats INCREDIBLE for a flautist who only played for 3 months.

  • i actually think your tone is great! put a little more feelin in when you play! and stop tonguing every note!

  • hi! you are doing an excellent job with notes, but your sound is a little "tight" i recomend opening your throat, standing up, and using a stnad instead of having it on the desk.good job though. you sound good. maybe try a little bit more of a technical piece. keep up the great work and i hope my advice helps!

  • Hi, I think the technical sound quality is not so good due to your webcam microphone, but you played nicely, and I do not think that your posture is bad. Go on!

  • hold your flute up higher and sit properly to get the greatest and clearest sound. i am 14 and i've been playing for 4 years and know how it is. i get to be with all the ladies, so it is pretty fun. this is probably one of the first jazz flute music i've ever heard. i might try doing it and posting a video as well. sorry for telling you what to do, but it will help you. great wrk.

  • Thanks to all commenters! I have improved greatly. Posture, tone and soul. ^.^ Unfortunately, I don't have the time to post anything new. :( At the time that I posted these vids, I had been playing only about three months. :) Thanks yous to everyone!

  • very bad

  • Three months? Then I'd say that you're doing terrific!

I hope you've kept improving then. Just support from your diaphragm, take bigger breaths and have a fast air stream, relax (drop) your jaw and lip. Tightening lips and pushing them into an "ooh" position only makes notes crack or go sharp.

Just keep practicing. You're doing well!

But like Rightboss said, there isn't a need to tongue every note like it's a staccato. but I definitely couldn't play like that after 3 months!

  • i agree with most of the other comments.. and i`ll add by saying that i can assume you haven`t been playing long. sit up straight, keep your shoulders back, don`t slouch. your tone needs some work, but overall i think you can do much better.

  • The name's Bessie's Blues.

  • yea terrible posture song is way to easy and boring i dont really like it sorry

  • I dig it.

  • I'm a jazz alto saxophonist and I played that song b4. Sounds good!

  • Fellow jazz flutist here. Just want you to know you are doing the right thing. Keep up the good work! Just remember that everyone commenting here did not come out of the womb playing jazz flute. They had to start somewhere.

  • HORRIBLE posture. Along with a not so good sound. This isn't... jazz. Jazz has soul. Jazz has life to it. You have neither in your playing. As a Jazz Flutist myself, I must say, you've got a long way to go before you are REALLY playing jazz flute. Practice.

  • Not the best sound. And the sound isn't right for jazz.

    There's no coloured tones,just straight.

  • hey baby you should let me rub your titties while you play that. it may affect the rhythm in the song. just kidding. sounds good. keep playing

  • But it seems to me that the song you're playing wasn't originally written for flute- so it doesn't sound very good even though the writers of the music book adapted it.

You seem to have natural talent for the flute though, so I'd reccomend you leanr some more about jazz style on the flute- cuz jazz flute sounds very cool (cool as in cool the way jazz musicians say it lol) and you have natural fluting talents :D

  • As far as playing the song written in the book, you definitely know what you're doing...

  • no virbrato? , really air-y ur hole in ur embouchure is too big

  • I'm a saxophonist, but I guess that's no excuse. I taught myself how to play the flute in 6 hours. I've had no actual instruction. At the time, I had been playing for a short period of time.

  • @shibihuntress epic...

  • @shibihuntress GO SAXOPHONES!

  • i rekon it looks more jazzy and freestyle and groovy with the head tilt thing, but the sound quality is better with better posture

  • hi. really good job. I currently learning alto sax and play the same easy jazz jim snidero number (track 1) :-)

my next number that I'm working on is number 5, ROCK ON

    Klaus Jensen

    Denmark

  • :DDDDDD okay, maybe a little bit more life in your playing will improve overall sound of your jazz :P

  • oops i just realised that you've discussed and sorted that problem on comments on a different one of your songs. sorry!

  • That's okay. I recently played in a Jazz Bar with The Oakville Jazz Ensemble and I fortunately remembered to tilt my head properly. It makes for a better sound. :) Yeah!

    Thanks for the comment! :)

  • i´ve been playing flute for maybe ten years now. then i started on tenorsax but i started introducing the flute to my jazzcombo now.

i played those song ages ago- but on the sax. they´re fun, but i found myself a bit bored after awhile...

charlie parker omnibook is more like it ;)

  • hey, that's really cool :D flute is the best! hehe

good playing ^_^ only thing i'll say hehe is (im not being one of these people who go around telling people how to be better lol just a thought =]) maybe it would be easier if you leveled your head and your flute up, instead of leaning down =]
