Here it is BAMMM And you say, Goddamn This is the dope jam But lets define the term called dope And you think it mean funky now, no Here is a true tale Of the ones that deal Are the ones that fail..
Lol, Flav cracks me up when he tells Sherelle Winters 'you ain't gon' free um', an you ain't gon' go see um', you know what I'm sayin', lol, Flav is comical, smh...
Yo them S1Ws was real.. I went to a PE concert back in the day and some guy tried to get on the stage and a S1W round house kicked his ass right off the stage outta view.. lol . Homie just did a pinwheel flip outta there. It was hilarious.
@BrownMumba UM NO SHE'S STILL PUTTING OUT MUSIC AND SEEMS TO BE DOING GOOD. SHE CAME TO MY SCHOOL AND SPOKE LAST YEAR AND SHE LOOKED GREAT. SHE SEEMED TO STILL HAVE IT TOGETHER. SHE HAS A TWITTER IF YOU WANT TO KEEP UP WITH HER.
love this group, and the S1W'S with martial art skills and militant just set a new bar of how African descent people in America should focus. The realistic knowledgeable style of Chuck D there will never be anyone like him or that group they stand alone in their own corner! love PE!
Bad news folks: today's disparaging state of society is no worse than when this MASTERPIECE came out. Why else would Chuck D have to spit w/such venom umpteen years ago? Why else would KRS say, "Rap is like a setup, it's like a game. A lot of suckas w/colorful names...it's all just w' w' WAK!"
and how is it that Regan messed up everything? 1980'S CRACK HIT THE STREETS HARD....WELL REALITY IS IT'S HITTING THE STREETS HARDER MORE NOW THEN EVA...!!!! THAT SHIT WILL KILL YA!!
@winggoddess well actually being HipHop i can tell you that Hiphop is the Movement and lifestyle Rap is the Musical art produced by Hip hopers. hope this clears up the confusion set in place by media. And no real hip hop has a distinct sound and has actual meaning and lasting content.
@bornwisedistruction okay, i see what you're saying. but if that's true, i don't know why all the rappers just can't call their music rap. if hiphop is a lifestyle not a music genre, then no music should be called hip hop. and exactly what kind of lifestyle is hiphop? ghetto culture? cuz i'm sure that rappers get rich once they're established/famous, and then they wouldn't be living in the ghetto anymore... so then their 'hiphop' music would no longer be of the hiphop lifestyle....
@joanofarcenciel Ok (Rap), to talk with a certain cadence like spoken word poetry you wouldn't call it singing its just talking and it sounds slick, when you talk to some one to get them to under stand what you are saying its called rapping to them and this is where the term comes from as for the Hip Hop life style it consists of Breaking Graffiti DJing and Emceeing respect for your self and others as well as your personal style of dress. Not who you hang with or how you act.
@bornwisedistruction i gotcha. but that still doesn't explain why "hip hop" is considered a music genre. i hear people saying "this is rap," and then another person says, "no, this is hip hop." and they're talking about a song, not a person's clothes or personality or opinions or lifestyle. i guess they're just using the term "hip hop" incorrectly? and so are the rappers who claim that their music is hip hop?
@joanofarcenciel It's just conflicting views from people who don't clearly have a understanding of these things and mislabel one as the other you cant actually break the two there inseparable but the easy way is to think of it this way "I am Hip Hop" and i encompass all these things so its the good with the bad the bad being commercial garbage that leaves you with nothing and doesn't teach any worth while lesson you hear it feeling as if you took nothing away from it which is labled as Rap
@joanofarcenciel And then you have the Ideal style that tries to enlighten uplift that serves as a warning, It's closer to the essence of Hip Hop and that's why groups and artists such as P.E. MOSDEF, Tailib Kweli, KRSONE, A Tribe Called Quest, Leaders of the New School & Big Daddy Kane get labeled as Hip Hop because its true to the roots as "HIp means to be smart or intelligent Hop is to jump or move and together its Hip Hop an intelligent movement" To quote the Teacher KRSONE.
@bornwisedistruction but if hip hop only means to dance around with music that is intelligent, a person/singer/band could do that with rock music too, so would that make any song of any genre fall under "hip hop" just because it's intelligent and danceable?
@bornwisedistruction And no real hip hop has a distinct sound and has actual meaning and lasting content. OR And no, real hip hop has a distinct sound and has actual meaning and lasting content? Which one?
