  • Rise Against:D

    looove:*

  • It feels really late at night but its only 11:15 A.M. Weird

  • @FiftyPoet i read this at 11:20 and i was just thinking that. are you my uncle? 3 weeks in the future thinking what im thinking?

  • @Equallymoveable Yes yes I am.

  • what did super9maddog say?

  • @xfactor3210 Click View All Comments, then Ctrl+F and search "super9maddog" couldn't be easier. Omg when will people learn to use basic computer functions ._.

  • @Radiscool1 Well, whenever I do that, I get told there are no comments under the username I choose. Every time. No matter what.

  • oShit that failed

  • We don't sleep very much These triggers ache for the touch Where's the strength we relied on? Here alone, like a crutch Maybe that's what keeps us up All the night with the light on... Glowing screens simulate Ads that no longer take place Can this be what we've become? Paper-thin, overweight Pills to arouse or sedate Still we don't know we want We can't let go! Can't you see? To lose control, Is to be... Finally free! There's the first bit with a bit better lyrics :P
  • @XxTrIcKsHoT37 nope

  • I hate it. I own the cd like hard copy... now time to buy it on itunes lol

  • @SalvatoreAlBoin Hate "it?" As in this song? This is my favorite song by Rise Against :P

  • Rise against has the best meanings. Love them.

  • Awesome song. Such a shame that it is a bonus song that you have to buy the whole album for it. Not that any songs on Appeal to Reason are bad though.

  • @Davesbusiness1 buy the whole album its great!

  • someone call the cops...I just raped the replay button.

  • this song reminds me of rise against

  • @sam4059 Oh gee, I wonder why? lol

  • @sam4059 This comment made me lmao

  • @sam4059 Me too, it's interesting how some bands can have such a similar sound to their own music.. Simply blows my mind

  • It would be a pepper, rebelling against ur digestion leaving some damage for sure ;D

  • *PUTS ON GLASSES*

    Why am i here?.....

  • @ad1170 Cause you got a good music taste?

  • @KevinioHD Yes that was it

it rise against was a food what would it be ?

  • When I first heard the intro I was like "damn, another slow song from ATR"...

Unbelievable what it had turned out to be.

  • This song is absolutely "Amensia"

     :P

  • The only thing I don't like about this song is that it isn't on the UK version

  • Kotov Syndrome is my favourite off the normal version of this album, but this the BEST off of ATR. It's simply amazing.

  • First a spark then a flame then a fire WE EXPLOODDDEEEE :D:D

I feel so awesome when listening to this on my ride to school xD

  • how can i get this song :O?

  • @Devel1001 Piracy, buy the album with the track on it, rip it off youtube with movie maker, just to name a few

  • @ChaosDragon018 cant find the album on itunes or eny online shop :/

    plz help :O

  • @Devel1001 the song was exclusively put on the american cd. To get it find a hard cd with the track on it. But you can use something like frostwire to get it.

  • @ChaosDragon018 ew never use frost wire just convert the youtube video to an mp3

  • @justice5150studios to late already got over 300 songs with it (most of which are bad religion :P)

  • @ChaosDragon018 yeah sure but i like to buy music from a store xD

  • Where can I download this song from? Im from the UK so I didnt get this song as the bonus track for Appeal to Reason! And I cant find it on Itunes or Amazon :-(

  • Fahrenheit 451 is a great book, but I don't think this song is based off of it. Sure, they have elements of fire and of giant, controlling TV screens in common, but the song portrays fire as the liberator while the book portrays fire as the enemy and destroyer. Pretty strong contrasts for one to be based off the other.

  • @Volvagia0slayer seems more like aldous huxley's book (Brave New World) influenced this more than 451. Although i've nvr read huxley's

  • every rise against song is nothing short of pure poetry <3

  • Super 2 Leuten gefällt die Schrift nicht!

  • You didn't hear this from me, OK? Look in the description if you're into The Unraveling.

    And keep it a secret.

  • correct me if im wrong but i think the title is supposed to be "selective amnesia" not "elective amnesia".

  • @gears2fan888 Nope it's "Elective Amnesia" the title is right.

  • @gears2fan888 The title is a play on words. Selective Amnesia is a real thing. Elective Amnesia is something RA made up.

  • We explode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with everything comes a price!!!!!!!!!! This song by Rise Against is so fucking awesome !! it's talking about the presidents ! First a spark, then a flame, now a fire... What they have done to us ! Spark Flame And A Fire ! That is so fucking incredible ! We don't sleep very much Presidents voice at the main line the first verse! Then Finally Free! They have been free to control us ! To lose control is to pay ! Fuck ya dude ! I think you can now understand !!
  • Fuck yes. The description gives me pure happiness. Thanks for that, chicken.

  • i love this song, i wont ever understand why someone would dislike Rise Against or any of there songs. they are the best and i support everything they 'Rise Against'. :)

  • We Explode :)

  • Great song. Second best off the album.

  • i disliked because the song ends

  • @Tomluvsmusic1 I liked it because I found the replay button...

  • The most intelligent band ever does a song based off of one of the most intelligent books ever. Makes perfect sense.

  • @sbrcs564 what book?

  • @rockydino96 Fahrenheit 451. Look it up if you want :)

  • @sbrcs564 You're right, it is based on Fahrenheit 451! It always reminded me of that book, but it's really based on it? That's sick! :D

  • @Audifan8595 I know, when I read that book, I thought "Man, this sounds like something deep enough for Rise Against to talk about." And then, what do you know, that's what this song is about.

  • @sbrcs564 I didn't know Rise Against when I first read it. I found out about them about a year later. But every time I hear this song, I think about Bradbury's concept of us becoming addicted to fantasy to a point where we can't face reality.

  • @sbrcs564 No WONDER I always think of Farenheit 451 when I hear this song!

  • i LOVE this song..very very very very nice work RA!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha in the description. Nvm

  • Also I'm confused as to what cd this is from. I have all of their CDs and don't understand why today is the first day I heard this song. Can anyone help me out...although I suppose I could just google it

  • Rise against = awesome

  • best >_<

    yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

  • Is it possible to marry a song? >.>

  • Probably tied for the best song on ATR with From Heads Unworthy IMO.

  • @sbrcs564 Personally, I say its a tie from Savior and Whereabouts Unknown, but that's just my opinion. :)

Btw, Every song by Rise Against kicks ass, so there really isn't a need to favorite certain ones lol :D

  • @SkullcandySteve1 Agreed haha. I love all of RA's stuff too, and Whereabouts Unknown is definitely near the top of this album for me, especially the first minute. What do you think of Rumors of my Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated (off Siren Song)? I wouldn't say it's my favorite since it's like a 10 way tie, but it probably stands out the most to me because of the truly beautiful lyrics that I can relate to and killer chorus.

  • i cant beside between this song oor behind closed doors there bost insanley good

  • in what area does trhis song appear on the album?

  • @00Powell nevermind itunes exclusive i found out.

  • who´s the one who dont like this song?!

  • I just yelled at someone i dont know :P

  • this is so fucking gorgeous!

  • I really wish i could have bought this on itunes, made me really sad that i couldnt :'(

  • LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!

Thanks for all the lyrics°!!! Rise Against's just AMAZING!! <3

  • @Super9Maddog Good for you.

  • @Super9Maddog And thats the only dislike it's EVER going to get.

  • @Super9Maddog why are you proud over you dislike a song?

  • @Super9Maddog this song is awesome i feel proud 2 give it da 125. like i spoiled my ears.... just my opinion

  • @zerooh u have the same idea of me ahah

  • @Super9Maddog Your not right in the head! Hope you know mr.Donkey diks

  • @Super9Maddog P.s If you wanna bitch on here, you may not want to listen to rise against songs, cause we fans have very very strong opinions

  • @Super9Maddog LEARN HOW TO SPELL YOU 7 YEAR OLD ASS!!

  • @Super9Maddog im honestly in utter disregard, i truly cant believe anybody would feel so badly towards this song, its amazing.

  • @Super9Maddog Yes, and I'm sure the band feels just horrible at hurting the ears of some little shit with no literacy skills.

  • @Super9Maddog

Why is it that the people that make these kinds of comments type it in unintelligible textspeak (not even worthy of being called any form of English)?

Oh right because only premature kids that are just learning how to spell go around bashing on other peoples music.

Unless of course the person you're bashing lives right next to you and is blaring their music at high volume right as you're trying to go to sleep.

Then a good old "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" is always welcome.

  • @Super9Maddog If u think that... Just wondering... ahem... WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU HERE?

I can imagine it sounds bad to you cuz it can for anybody, thanks for expressing you're opinion but you don't have to bitch about it like the hateful little nugget you are.

  • @SkullcandySteve1 lol. best way of handling that dipshit

  • @Super9Maddog *cough* eh-hem. learn 2 things ok? 1. learn to spell/type. 2. learn what good music is.

  • @Super9Maddog I'm writing this because I want you to know people still hate you over here. Here's some more hate posts from the people who know what good music is.

  • @Super9Maddog Your grammar and spelling hurt my eyes. Go back to the first grade, please.

  • @Super9Maddog fucking retard. go listen to rap. its the genre you deserve

  • @Super9Maddog Congratulations... Do yourself a favor, go take a spelling/grammar class...

  • @Super9Maddog Cause you are a gay who love pop music, you should clean your ears !

  • @Super9Maddog If you dislike it there will be 20 people who will like it ! :D

  • @Super9Maddog then why the fuck would you look up this band? Just go move out of your mom's basement and learn to spell, dumb ass.

  • @Super9Maddog Oh my god somebody who fells the same way as me! lolo1lol101ol. *snort*

No. Rise against is awesome. This song is made like Leonardo Da Vinchi made his paintings. and rise against makes masterpieces with every song .

  • @Super9Maddog I bet you listen to generic rap, and feel hardcore even though you grew up in an average neighborhood but still call yourself "Gangsta". Seriously, you can barely type, get out of here.

  • @ShinylipsRevolutionI think he's a 10 years old, rich as hell kid. form Malibu that thinks their life sucks even though they get a damn lambo for their fucking seet sixteen.

  • @aniharman100 dude, not every god damn 10-13 year old likes rap and pop and is a bratty idiot. i'm a rise against loving 12 year old. you were 10 once

  • @aniharman100 Very true, my bro.

  • @Super9Maddog Instead of disliking videos, maybe you should take an English class =]

  • no dislikes, no surprise

  • After this song you wouldnt DARE to touch the dislike button....like evryone else.

  • "GLOWING SCREENS simulate lives that no longer take place can this be what we've become...." You know like Internet, T.V., Video games. Get it?

  • Tim is a "Hero of War" when Joe has "Elective Amnesia" and Zach is stuck with "Kotov Syndrome" and Brandon has "Whereabouts Unknown" but they all have "The Strength to Go On" and they "Appeal to Reason" when we are on our hands and knees to see if they will make "The Dirt Whispered" some of their new songs on "End Game" but we are all stuck "behind Closed Doors because we cant wait for their new album! They really need to "Fix Me" because I'm Having a "Nervous Breakdown"

  • It´s lights not lines :3

  • AMAZING RAPE

  • @zairales that was the most random but awsome comment ive ever read.

    CHINESE CRYSTAL ELDERY FISH!!!

  • @jsh020 /facepalm... because words cannot describe how lame that was.

  • @themightychickens thank you sir.

  • one of my favourite song by rise against =)

  • I'm in America and I still didn't get this song!!!!!!!!!

  • @thelinkinparkmaniac Depends on where you buy the album...

  • @themightychickens Well I bought it in America!

  • @thelinkinparkmaniac It doesn't matter in which country you were in when you bought it smartass, it depends on who you bought it from.

  • @themightychickens I didn't mean it like that, I bought it from Best Buy, though!

  • @thelinkinparkmaniac Well apparently the only way to get this song now is by buying the Itunes version. (that was 2 minutes of reseach)

  • @themightychickens itunes has it

  • yeah how bout them New York Giants!

  • this song is awesome so just shut up and enjoy (:

  • im lovin it

  • This has to be fav ATM by far

  • <3 this song! also the quote "Most people are awaiting Virtual Reality; I am awaiting virtuous reality" really links to this song for me..

  • ha finally not a single dislike on a good rock song.

  • Very oddly I always think of 'Island' by jane rogers when I hear this, maybe because she has panic attacks. That girl Nikki black is pyscho. Can't wait for the movie though. Great book though.

  • "These triggers ache for the touch" That's the best part! I really don't know why I like that part. Probably because I have seen so many people commite suicide since I was very young and they put it so beautifully.

  • "Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out."

  • In the Sufferer and the Witness inner cover, Fahrenheit 451 is in the suggested reading list, thus proving the book has significant influence on Tim. Several blatant connections can be made between this song and the book, such as the lyrics about sleep pills and glowing screens. More specifically the lyric "First a spark, then a flame, now a fire" may relate to how in the book Montag seeing the old lady perish in the fire with her books sparked a fire in Montag's brain.

  • @okok986 I was hoping someone would make that connection. very good song, very good book

  • i like this song very much \m/

  • this song is awesome,...

especially the chorus,..first a spark, then a flame, now a fire

    WE EXPLODE,..

  • i love this song, but i cant get it cause i dont live in U.S....(thankfully)

  • @waabooz08 Well you could use limewire or youtube downloader...

  • i think this is one of my favorite songs by them

  • wow im not ment to listen to this song XD people keep bothering me!!! lol

  • I just went on google earth and found the Faroe Islands. That sucks dude. How far off of mainland UK is that?

  • "Fear alone like a crutch"

Makes more sense. Just go with fear people.

  • 0:39 i swear it isn't "lives that take no longer take place" its "adds that no longer take place" this makes more sense as well because the song is referring to the influence of the media

  • @ProLemZzz Well it would be Ads then, not adds. And second, no you're wrong. And if you've ever read Fahrenheit 451, lives that no.... makes perfect sense.

  • @jmelbo17 well unless your hearing is impaired... then i can't understand how the hell you get lives... Oh and no your wrong, it doesn't make perfect sense seeming as "Elective Amnesia" and the song both refer to the media's influence so why the hell would they sing about screams and lives... yea mate don't think you know make sure you get your facts right before you present an attitude (y)

  • @ProLemZzz the song is about fahrenheit 451... lol what are you talking about? in the book people stop living and just watch TV's that show what life is like. jesus go read a book dude lol. owned.

  • @jmelbo17 ummm what makes you think that this song is about Fahrenheit 451...? ummm because if it does mate... explain how elective amnesia has anything to do with a fireman.... and don't say owned unless your point is confirmed... otherwise you just look stupid, although it doesn't take you much to appear that way.

  • @ProLemZzz other than Tim saying it's about the book and all of the references that you can pick up throughout the song, you're right, I guess I don't really have an argument. If you went out and read the book and actually understood it, you'd see it's a very easy connection to make.

  • do listen to it here alone like a crutch maybe that's what keeps us up

  • No, its most definately FEAR alone like a crutch...

  • Man, I LOVE this song! It's like I find a new "favorite" song from rise against from time to time. They're all favorites!! lol

  • no disrespect but shouldnt it be here alone like a crutch other then that awsome video :)

  • It's is most certainly NOT here alone. And if you think about the lyrics as a whole, that makes no sense. So until Tim directs us otherwise, let's sing it as fear alone.

  • @jmelbo17 It is fear.

  • this is an AMAZING song!!!

  • Where are you from chickens? - small countries... :]

  • The Faroe Islands, a bunch of islands north of the UK. Population: 50k.

  • small town in ohio. 2.5k

  • @themightychickens Awesome! That makes you.. A bit danish, correct?

  • @TheNordbjerg no... ?

  • @themightychickens Hmm. OK.

  • @themightychickens Wierd, because one of your national languages is Danish. And you share the same queen.

  • @TheNordbjerg So you would argue that Canadians, Australians, South Americans and Indians are all in fact part British?

  • @themightychickens Wow, relax. You have a problem with Danes? And no, because they don't share queen and king, but Denmark and Faroe Islands do. And there are differences in English, American, Canadian and Australian at some words too.

  • @TheNordbjerg *sigh*

Why do I even bother arguing with ignorants like you.

Queen Elizabeth II is the queen of 16 sovereign states, including Canada and Australia, and is the head of all Commonwealth nations.

The countries I mentioned all have English as their official Language, they merely have different dialects. Just like us Faroese have Danish as our second language, but with a very different dialect.

  • @TheNordbjerg The Faroe Islands are an autonomous province of Denmark, and are a part of the Danish Kingdom (among with Greenland) and have been so since WWII. That does not, in any way, make us Danes.

Now I don't understand why you would think I have some sort of dislike for Danes just because I live by factual information, but I would appreciate if you would stop making such ridiculous assumptions.
