one of my favs from this album. But from what i read when they did this cd with the change in sound fans didnt really like it then. but grow to like the cd now.
Even though I didn't know this song until the 2000's, the sound and feel of this song really takes me back to the 90's. ^_^ It's also one of my favorite songs and videos by Def Leppard. :)
Slang was awesome, ticks me off it didn't get the credit it was due....even lots of Def Leppard fans blew it off. Slang is one of their best and I wish Def Leppard would of recorded more like it.
@dadthemaster Yup, It really should've taken off better, but was ignored by most media because of the name def leppard, and then fans who couldn't accept the change. Wish they would've stuck with that sound, maybe they would be somewhere instead of where they are today, stuck being a nostalgia act on tour playing nothing but the hits and touring with the same bands (They are touring with Poison again this year...)
i love this band, love this song, love the people themselves in Def Leppard.. my damn dad wont let me see them tomorrow... i had the money for the ticket but he refuses to drive me.. FUCKK
@TheBeatlefloyd I'm so sorry to hear that. I had similar luck for the past 4 years. But this year I finally got to go. They'll be back in two years. You'll get another chance. I got my fingers crossed for you. : )
@kimvorell I dont think Phil ever sang Two Steps behind, I have pretty much every alternative single/b-sdie. There is a version of Miss You in a Heartbeat that Phil sings. He wouldnt sing TSB since Joe wrote it, he would sing Heartbeat cause he wrote it.
this kind of music should and must be the one which has the right to be shown or played in the airways not the commercialized beaver kind which should be censored.
Beautiful band ..beautiful song..I feel truly blessed to have spent my adolescence, my high school years in the era of Def Leppard and all of their contemporaries.. 80's music was food for my soul....
Woah, i could never imagine Def Leppard with an alternative, droney shoegaze sound. Reminds me of My Bloody Valentine. Oh well. "Hair-ternative" at its best!
It's pretty bold statement 'total rip off'! -I would agree that there is a similar sound/influence with the reverb on guitar which carries through the song but that's it! The melody, vocal pitch, lyrics are is completely different! If they were influenced at all by the Smiths then it's hardly a bad thing! Jeez! Work it out is a good song in it's own right.
I thought this was done in 95. I watched the DVD Rock of Ages and they did the Slang vid the next day in the studio next door. Maybe I misunderstood. Oh darn I will just have to watch that DVD again. I am REALLY going to HATE TO DO THAT! LOL
