@maruti22 Labadi beach is especially disgusting. There's an oil rig off shore and every now and then there's this nasty yellow liquid that floats over the top of the water. lol. You have to wait for it to pass before you go back in.
I'm a 42 year old brother from the US me and my lady friend are flying over to Accra to stay we are gonna make Accra our home hello!!! Accra!!! 2011!!!
@Labellefarahjacmel - without ghana there would be no haiti the way you know it. dont make stupid comments. ghana is the originator of many carribeans
i may be going to ghana on a volunteer abroad trip. I'm pretty scared and don't know much about Accra to be honest. I'm most concerned about my safety just because I will be travelling by myself for a little bit.
I keep on hearing that! I am terrified and excited at the same time. I am very ignorant about Accra. Do you know if it's possible to get reliable internet and can I use my unlocked cell phone there?
when are you going? Dont worry Ghanains are very nice. I actually feel safe in Ghana than i do in America. no joke. I am planning on going sometime this year.
Thanks for replying! I am going in a month. Feeling quite nervous. Do you know anything about Accra specifically? What it's like to live there, people, environment, safety etc..anything really, lol.
Well im going this summer, i have friends there in Accra, never been before but i have been told that its very safe and the people are very welcoming, although only drink bottled water, not from the taps thats what i was told anyways, i cant really say much more about the place having never been there, however i feel rather confident that il be very safe when im there and im sure you will have a fab time:) its not Liberia or nigeria so i think you will be ok lol :)
@chiccaboom -Its less volatile than say nigeria but to be truthful, iv heard horror stories. My dad is from accra and tells me that in recent years the country has become very violent. Similar to nigeria there is a growing kidnap and armed robbery problem. I dont want to spoil your excitment, im sure ul be fine, but remember it is still west africa. Especially if you are a lone woman, be vigilant and be sensible
I miss ghana soooooooo much when you live there u make fresh, come back to england now everyting make basa!!! when u see white people in ghana they are shocked at the beauty, prob bcos they only see the nagative.. big up ghana africa and the diaspora peoples. come home..... cool down.
There are some stupid haitians making comments Cant the creator of this short film use whatever music he wants? I also hear Buju Bantons voice maybe it is not haitian but Jamaican music. No one wants to steal anything from Haiti. And Labadi beach in Ghana probably existed long before the Labadee in Haiti. Maybe If all of you put on your thinking caps it could be that during slavery slaves brought from Africa thought the area looked very similar to there home in Africa Kwasia!
Ghanaian music is not from haiti ...... and that the name clause is unnecessary ....... your beach is unknown because Labadie beach knows everyone here in Europe or maybe even the whole of Africa ... ..... Haiti is in contrast to a village Ghana
Sheesh Why so much venom people. The song was a colaboration between a Hatian ( Wycleff Jean) and a Jamaican (Buju Banton). It so happens that both Ghana and Haiti have a beach by that name. This does not mean that anyone stole anything though I think Jacmel was just being jovial. sa ka fet ti mamzelle
We also have a Labadi Beach in the city of Cap Haitian ; Haiti. This song is a compas song from Haiti with a lot of creole words, our maternal language. This is a coincidence.
I love you all my friends and brothers from labardi....from an old abruni (apache) who never forgets what your country did for my mind and how you all helped me grow up and see the true world. E da sein...toy your tein. (sorry about the phonectics..never learnt how to write it properly). My love to you all....charle.
I'm going to Ghana in 1 week, I'll get back to this video just to tell you how amazing it is :)
