  • sorry for multiple comments but i had problems with youtube

  • last ninja saga is wonderful!especially the tunes

  • I remember, when my cousine showed me this intro first time i had to hide in the bathroom, because i was crying.

  • @4nnanda

Crying out of joy? Or Crying because it scared you? :)

  • @djsmithy Crying because of coolness of this intro. I have never seen something so wonderfull on my computer before. I couldn't belive that this is possible on the commodore c64. The other reason was the pride, that i own such a great machine, wich on you can watch so magnificent masterpiece of art.

  • i used to load this intro up loads and i loved the music and intro too ultimate c64 classic, im so proud that i owned one of these classic machines

  • SID forever

  • OMFG!!! i exploded

  • C64 forever ...

  • this is 8bit legend shit!!!!!!!!!!!

  • masterpiece of music on c64 :)

  • one of the best songs and intros on c64

  • The intro itself wasn't that impressive back in 1991, after all the Amiga and other computers looked more impressive by this time.

However, the music completely blew my mind and still does today. They really squeezed the absolute maximum of the SID sound chip.

The Amiga version of the intro was nowhere near as epic sounding.

  • pure fucking sid sound

  • Why the animated sequence is not there in my cassette?

  • The Best !

  • listen to the Remix of Mind In A Box (R.E.T.R.O.)!

  • Simply great. One of the best computer music ever!

  • pure masterpiece

  • The look at these pictures, I guess it would be cool to make an animation film on Commodore 64. I would be the first person, who pay for the ticket !

  • Commodore 64-ever! =D

  • It gives me shivers when the melody sets in and the bass starts pumping :-D JUST EPIC !!!

I have to do a remix...

  • this is a great game for the C64

    i like 2 more

    but this still kicks ass

  • Lovely! :-)

  • @ReynOuwehand haha. you WOULD say it's lovely! but yea, the music is amazing. completely sets the mood.

  • @ReynOuwehand You're the man, Reyn! Thanks for your wonderful music! :)

  • this is FREAKIN EPIC! that music is AWESOME!

  • chit i miss my C128!!!!!...good old days!!

  • ohh the nostalgy

  • I will never forget this! It blew me away as an 8 year old and frankly it still does.

  • this is awsum intro.....a true classic !

  • Classification: perfect :D

  • incredible!

  • What a nice Intro and beautiful epic music track. I remember my old good days when I was young. Is there a "remix" of this track - well I mean that the same notes but better quality and a littlebit more "modern". There is for example a "modern" version of "The last ninja 1". But over all this INTRO is one of the best I ever saw. Old day 4 ever! LOL =)

  • An epic intro especially considering the technology.

  • It's really good!! I don't understand just one thing = if graphic on C64 is obsolete (Amiga & Pc graphic was better in early 90's) why music on C64 was better and has beaten this on Amiga an Pc???And did Amiga is successor of C64??(8 bit for 16 bit)

  • good question ! The SID tunes were very unique and powerful...and so was the composition of game soundtracks.

Best example: R-Type , Thunderblade (very cool soundtrack) and of course Last Ninja 2 and this one...

  • C64 was basically a continuation of the already quite venerable PET line (and still partially compatible with them), while the Amiga was a ground-up redesign by entirely different people. C64's sound chip (SID) was definitely groundbreaking - incidentally, designed by Rob Yannes, who later founded Ensoniq, another famous maker of sound hardware.

  • Of course C64's graphics were obsolete by early 1990s - C64 was released in *1982* and was a notch above many competitors at the time =) Amiga actually had technically better sound hardware than C64 (though not necessarily always better composers =) but PCs lagged behind a long time because everyone thought PCs were expensive "business computers" for "serious use" - few bought them for home use, few bought games for them, people who wanted multimedia and sound processing used Ataris and Amigas.

  • if you want to see what the c64 is up to these days .. check "edge of disgrace booze design" and also " Pearls for Pigs Xenon" both on youtube and many more .. there is life in the old breadbin yet =)

  • This is just awesome - I've just become addicted again after all those years!

  • Best C64 Intro ever...

    and ZackMcCracken

  • awesome! great vid and epic music -)

  • WOWOWOWWOWOWW...

  • One of my favorite C64 tunes. Among the best with Dylan Dog!

  • Sounds familiar! :P

  • Hey! Great work on the soundtrack, one of the most memorable and evocative pieces I've ever heard on the SID.

  • I remember I could never finish this game hahaha

    but Ninja 1 and 2 I did.

  • i remember when this game came local Finnish compute magazine gave 98% ...comments were they taked maxium out from old C64 maybe best game in C64

  • Believe me, I know someone who is working right now on a game, that takes ALL out of the C64. Yes, you will see possibilities from which you never thougt C64 could do this. He is building the levels right now. And there will be a new demo ready on this christmas.

Yes, you understood me right. It is a new C64-Game. Not only A game, but THE game!

  • Isn't it a little too late? I still have my C64 but I dont think I would ever open it again... Not to mention that I had great great great time with those C64 games back in late 80s or early 90s...

  • Late? For what?

The C64-community is smaller than in the 80s, but still alive.

  • Well once I tried to play C64 games again and I opened my C64... believe me it doesn't feel the same anymore. It was great even super great at its time, I wish I could get the same joy even now, at least for me doesn't feel the same.

But still, in my whole life I didnt enjoy any game as much as I enjoyed C64 games.

  • The C64 was that time hightech and I think you must find the right community around you to get that feeling again.

  • with 64kb 1mhz and marvelous SID chip

  • Cyberdyne Systems, who did Armalyte (Delta II) did this, it's pretty damn amazing considering it's in 64k. Totally puts the 512k Amiga version to shame, along with every sluggish, unoptimised game made ever since.

  • I went to see a friend (who was working on a game for them) at the s3 office one Sunday in Harrow ... Robin's paper art was up on the wall.. was really cool. great games, but I doubt you'll find many who have anything nice to say about working for the company.. Other friends did music for them and never got paid and they weren't the only ones.

  • This is soooooooo awesome! I still remember when I bought it and how my jaw dropped when I saw this.

Man, back then programmers knew how to squeeze the very last drop out of a piece of hardware. Now we have to put up with unoptimized garbage that needs a 3ghz+ CPU and a 8800GTX to just roll the freaking credits.

  • This version of the intro was so god damn much better compared to the (technically superior) Amiga version it's not even funny.

The composition of the music and action + the dramatic buildup to the song are to die for. Not to mention the tune itself. Bejesus it's awesome.

  • agreed!

  • What a fantastic game, and what a great intro! The C64 was an extremely dated piece of hardware when this came out...yet the C64 version was every bit as awesome as the Amiga version IMHO.

  • A like this intro! It is fantastic, i like guardian on wall a ninja runing behind him, really awesome, music is incredible! This Game rocks! Like a C64, roll on!

  • Truly one of the best C64 had to offer and one of the greatest game intros.

  • This is the best game intro on c64 I ever seen!

  • the intro music is soooo awesome!!!

all last ninja themes are fucking great, but the third is very understimate i think.

  • I play this an obsessive amount of times, I really do.... superb stuff!!!! A 1982 computer as well- incredible!!

  • Pwned the Amiga version, in my opinion. Composed and 'directed' much better. The tune is an absolute classic.

  • i remember it when i was 8 years old!!! Love it! The year was 1992:)

  • WOW, this is the best Commodore Intro ever!

  • the shadow of the beast 2 intro has better grafics and animation. but this intro is still awseome. specially the music.

  • this was the best intro of all times, genius atmosphere......

  • BEST.COMMODORE.64.GAME.EVER! Nuff said

  • yes, it was impressive what was all possible with the c64 in the early 90s only with 1 Mhz...

  • I love this intro... Is one of the best on C64. Unfortunately, the saga on the C64 finished a long time ago.

Me encanta esta intro. Es una de las mejores en la C64. Lástima que la saga en la misma haya muerto.

  • It was game with best graphic in it's time! Hard to imagine in 1600x1200 in 32bits isn't it?
