Pop'n music. There are nine buttons, but You can start with a five-button mode. The reference to rock band isn't far off, as both were made by the same company. Unlike The two songs however, the controller is just nine-buttons on a board.

Yup. Pop 'n Music is made by Konami and not avaliable in the USA. I so badly want Pop 'n Music!! The first time I tried it in an arcade, I ended up spending 20 bucks worth in tokens on that one machine.

By the way, is there animation of the tune of the name "hora de verdad" in the animation that you have? Can you up-load it by all means in case of being?

The genre name of "hora de verdad" is said, "Cyber flamenco".

There are certain ways to get around a US region code, although I don't support them since they aren't exactly legal. If you're dead set on playing Pop'n on a US console do a bit of searching around on Google and you may find what you want. :)

as far as I know swap magic can only remove region protection for ps2 games and not ps1 games, so I'm kind of wondering if best hits just contains the PSX songs.

Best Hits is a compilation of many of the most popular Pop'n Music 1-6 installments. It's the cheaper/more sensible route then hunting down the PSX games.
