  • Can these planes be painted and what type paint is used for foam? Can enamel be used as well?

  • have a look at his review on the EPO Parkjet if you don't believe me

  • he has one of the dodgiest throws I've ever seen and its not just this video. (do no throw it like him unless you want fingers amputated)

  • This background makes me sick

  • how much flight time do you get from a 2200mah battery?

  • question, do you think this setup...(battery, mototr, and esc.) will fit in/on the skyfun jet?

  • Wow, that's fast. I tought it was slower, especially after viewing a video of it indoor. But it all depends on the motor. :)

  • Does it have all the parts

  • @thehockeyrocks99 no it doesn't come with all the parts. Please have a look at the list of links in the video information bar just below the video.

  • What's the stock motor, a 370?

  • @tenrazo215 there was no stock motor with FunJet. It is a basic kit which includes the airframe and hardware only. The motor mount will accept 28mm to 36mm diameter motors. It all depends on how fast you want to go.

  • @rcFoamFighters thanks. looks like a very good project plane.

  • how much would that exact model cost?

  • @TF141Afterburner it cost about $175 not including TX and RX. Please have a look at the video information bar for links to the FunJet airframe and parts used in video.

  • @rcFoamFighters oh whups, my bad

  • I am beginning the prefitting of the plane parts and cannot find any info on the angle setting for the "rudder fins". Are they vertical or canted a few degrees? Thanks much

  • @rufenit1 mine came out canted to the outside. I just pushed them into the slots and whatever angle they came out to be is what they are.

  • @rcFoamFighters Thank you for the back chat, and information on the angle of the fins. Roger roger

  • cool, i can't wait to get this thing in the air, i will definitely post a video of the maiden...

    Thanks again for the help!!

  • Awesome!

I was worried i might have to reverse motor shafts which is beyond my capabilities.

I will be using the TURNIGY 2836-2350 on the FunJet.

Thanks again for the quick response!!

  • @swarmflyer That motor works great in the FunJet and will get you into the tripple digit club on a 3 cell and 6x4 prop. It's good for some fast fun flying!!!

  • Hey Guys,

Another quick question here, regarding props,

I was at the hobby shop today and i found the right size props i need for my builds,

however the guy kinda confused me, saying i needed a “pusher prop” and of course they didn't have the right sizes in pusher props.

Can i just run the motor in reverse? If so, do i just reverse the connections on the motor, or is that done with the Remote?

Curious how you guys do it.

    Thanks a lot.

  • @swarmflyer on a brushless motor you only have to switch any two of the three motor connections to reverse the rotation of the motor. Some ESCs have a reversing option when programming. Make sure not to put the prop on backards, the side with the prop size on it usually faces the front of the plane.

  • That answers my question, thanks a lot.

  • I have a question. I'm new to the Funjet and plan to get one on the near future. Does the initial package just come with the frame??? Do you have to buy the motor, battery, and controller separate??? The reason I ask is that some place sell it for almost $200+ whereas some sell it for $70. Any help, thanks.

  • @mcluna2 the ones selling around $70 are just the airframe and hardware. The ones around $200 are usually almost ready to fly but check with the seller to find out what is included. It's usually the plane plus the power system without the radio gear or battery.

  • Awesome! Thanks for all the help...

  • Hey Guys,

    Sorry to keep bugging you,

Just a quick question here regarding speed controllers.

I can't seem to find the Amp Draw of the Turnigy2836 2350kv Motor.

Is the Turnigy 60 amp speed controller ok to use with the Turnigy2836 motor and the Rhino 2250mAh 3S1P 30C Lipoly Pack

Thank you so much, and again sorry for all the questions, i'm starting to get all this.

  • @swarmflyer the Turnigy Plush 60A esc is a great match for the 2836-2350kv motor. This combo has worked well on a number of our builds with both 3s and 4s LiPo packs.

  • Cool, thank you so much!

  • Hey Guys,

My awesome girlfriend got me a FunJet for christmas.

I think i am going to go with the Turnigy2836 set-up in Frank's "MultiPlex FunJet - Build - Fly - Review" video.

I am also in the precess of building the Foam Fighters "FB-28".

  • For the FB-28 I want to go with the Grayson Hobbies "Super Mega Jet" set-up.

So my question is this, i am on a limited budget here, so i am hoping i can use the same battery packs for both set-up's (Rhino 2250mAh 3S1P 30C Lipoly Pack)

    Is this possible?

    Thank you so much.

    swarmflyer

  • @swarmflyer cool Christmas present and yes the batteries you mentioned will work great in both planes. Good luck with your builds!

  • Hi, thanks for the great post!

I was wondering, isnt it dangerous to use a prop that doesnt fold in? How high are the chances of the prop breaking when landing? I hope you understand what i mean with folding prop, i dont know the technical term for it :D

  • oOOpIIIqOOo it's perfectly safe not to use a folding prop as long as you shut the throttle down and glide in for a landing. You can break props once in a while if it hits the ground first. I suppose you could use a folding prop if you wanted to.

  • " Ooooooo! how scream like dat!?" :D :D :D

  • how do you connect the ailerons with the wing for that speed? does it have tape or hinges? i'd like to make my skyfun as this...

  • paris635 the FunJet does not have tape or hinges. The elevons hinges are molded from thin foam beteween the wings and elevons. For the SkyFun I would recommend using strapping tape and doing the under and over taping method shown in most of our epp builds. Please have a look at some of our epp foam plane scratch build videos to see this hinge method.

  • What prop did you use for this motor? Did you have to change the prop for 3 and 4 cell? Nice flying!!

  • Flyingskill100 with the 3 cell used 6x4 sport prop and 4cell used 4.74x4.75 sport prop.

  • How much does it cost $150

  • try 12s or higher

  • great tips! great video! like it ;)

  • that right there looks like too much fun !!!! got any tips for hand launching ?

  • pointnozzleaway It's really easy. Just hold the plane with the nose a little up and bring the throttle up till it feels like the plane wants to fly out of your hand, then give it a firm toss. Once you have your other hand on the stick bring the throttle up and climb out.

  • subscribed =) your videos are fantastic. i just got a couple of questions

how do you record the fpv video?

howa re you monitoring the fpv video during flight, goggles or monitor?

are all of the parts on the funjet stock or have you upraded motors esc's etc

i have looked on your website but couldnt find the answers to those questions

keep up the good work =)

  • In what case would you need to adjust the motor 5DEG up/down?

  • thestrugglewithin not sure about that. Maybe no need to go that extreme but it is cool to have the adjustability to compensate for the plane nosing up or down under throttle.

  • @rcFoamFighters

    Fair enough.

I agree. I really appreciate such adjustability

  • FPV that baby, you WILL get hooked!

  • JoeVSvolcano That would be cool! But there isn't a whole lot of room for fpv gear in my FunJet.

  • Nice plane but won't the prop hit the ground and break off when you land it?

  • KingHaggis yes the prop can break if it hits the ground the wrong way but it doen't happen very often.

  • @rcFoamFighters Thanks for your answer. It's probably a n00b question but that's because I am a n00b regarding RC flying :-)

But how on earth can you land the plane without letting the prop hit the ground? The way I see it, the only way the prop won't hit the ground is when it's horizontally aligned with the horizon as soon as it stops spinning. But that's just a case of random luck? No matter how you land the plane will eventually lie flat on the ground and that can make the prop hit the dirt.

  • KingHaggis as long as the prop is not hanging straight down when you land it will rotate when it hits the ground and will not break. So it really doesn't happen too often. Just know that planes like this have been built for many years and they work fine.

  • @rcFoamFighters I see. That's good to know cause I was planning on buying the Funjet since I've had some time to practice with the Easystar and I'm really getting the hang of it. The Funjet will probably be my next plane :-)

  • @KingHaggis

You can get props that fold back though, preventing such damage.

  • @thestrugglewithin ah, that's good to know. I'll be getting a foldable prop as soon as I'm bying a Funjet, then.

For now, I'm having great fun with my Easystar!

  • @KingHaggis

Yea when I get a funjet I'll be doing the same.

Gotta learn to fly first though!

    Then FPV later.

  • Hello RcFoamFighters,

    I love your vids!

I have brought the same setup from hobbyking as you with a 4.75x4.75 prop on 4s!

But i was expecting more speed... Can i use a 5x5 prop for more speed?

I have a datalogger on my turnigy super brain esc and it tells me this:

    36500rpm

    47Amps

    27C (80.6F)

    Cheers!

  • slashyful you can probably get a way with running the 5x5 prop as long as the temperature doesn't get a lot hotter. Just be sure to take it easy the first couple flights and do some cool down laps so you don't over heat the motor. You most likely won't see a big difference in speed. If you are look to go a lot faster upgrade to the 1600watt system I put in my FunJet in one of the later videos. Good for 146mph on 5 cells.

  • hi i want to know if on the 3 cell and 6x4 prop you get unlimited vertical i got the same motor on my stryker but even wit a 6.5x6.5 prop on a 3s 2200 25c flight max it wont give me full vertical ?

  • patdud1979 prop down to a 6x4 prop and you should have unlimited vertical. You are overloading the motor with the 6.5x6.5 prop. You can also try 30c or higher rated batteries for better performance. It makes a big difference, Both Paul and I run 30c or 40c batteries on all of our planes.

  • i just ordered this setup what prop are you using need to know !!!

  • @ThePlaneboys if you have this same Turnigy 2836-2350kv motor it worksbest with an apc 6x4 prop on 3 cells and on 4 cells I used a hobbyking TGS 4.75x4.75 sport prop.

  • Is that completely ruled out flying with a Funjet if you are a beginner?

Can i not just put a smaller engine in?

  • jegrrnilau with a slower motor and a lighter setup this plane would be docile enough for a beginner. I would not recommend it for a first plane because it will not hold up to a crash like some of the trainer planes will. It's the worst feeling to buy a plane put it together and then crash it on the first flight only to see it destroyed.

  • @jegrrnilau if you had this as a begginer plane you would destroy it on first flight thats if you got it into the air they are to fast by nature and to responsive

  • Okay, thanks

  • @ThePlaneboys you have to have down syndrome to crash this plane

  • Hey guys I am confused about the weight of the plane most adds online saying plane weighs 22 oz, now is that without the battery?

And what is the KV of the motor?

    Thanks

  • NoobyRC the FunJet I bought was in kit form. There was no power system or electronics included with it. The weight and KV of the motor is completely up to you. You can put just about any set up you want into this plane. I Have run 4 different power systems in it ranging from 1450kv to 3200kv with the plane weighing from 24oz to 40oz and all setups flew great!

  • might need faster servos to get the roll rate up. I've seen that thing roll like crazy, you're using stock servos i take it?

  • tubsucks I have larger than recommened metal gear servoes in the plane. I just have the rates set low to make things easier for the speed runs.

  • aaaah i ceeee i ceeee :)

  • Great review! What size prop did you have in it with the 2350 kv motor?

  • Thanks Ebuli!! an APC 6x4 Sport prop works best with a 3 cell and a 4.75 x 4.75 works good with a 4 cell.

  • ive been dying to get this plane, nice review

  • Thanks RyanlnSD!! This is a very nice flying plane I'm sure you will like it when you get one. Please be sure to check out the rest of the videos on this FunJet as It gets a 1600watt power system and sets a new personal speed record for us. You can watch them from rcFoamFighters YouTube Channel.

  • werd up, subscribed.

  • Thanks for subscribing RyanlnSD!! Lots more coming!!

  • Quick question: "CA" mentioned at 6:05, is this Cyanoacralate super glue?

  • Coodude that is exactly what it is. The same suff sold at your local hobby shop. The instructions say not to use the foam safe type which surprised me as well.

  • So the instructions are in English, then?

  • Coodude26 they are multi lingual and yes they include an English version of instructions.

  • 3S2200 with the Eflight Six Series 2700kv

and a 5X5 is a nice setup. Don't be afraid to pull some G's on this plane - it can take it.

  • Sounds like a good setup eatsleep3D!! I'm planing on eventually going to a 5 cell setup with this plane. I'm expecting some crazy speeds!!!!

  • funjet made of epp would break at those speeds.. epp is a LOT softer

  • buntcher epp is softer and spongy which helps it absorb the impact of a crash much better than other foams I know of. If you use a carbon fiber spar and cover the plane in a light fiber weave it ends up extremely rigid and almost indestructible. My bullet plane is built this way and flies at speeds to 119mph. I have also had the receiver lock out at full throttle and watched the plane go nose down into the ground from about 400 feet and survive with little damage. That's why I like epp.

  • i know i had about 6 fomies in total, it is a cool that its very flexible, more than elapor but man when i fly 100mph +, plane made of any material would break, personally i like elapor more, cause its more rigid and when u crash, at least it stayed in "some" state (2 to 5 pieces), but with every epp aircraft i crashed was totally destroyed to small pieces that i could not even pick up from the ground. all in all its a matter of how u crash.

  • anyway, nice review man

  • what servos did you use?

  • YourFriendlyMe I used Corona DS-929MG metal geared servos but just about any 9gram to 12 gram servo will fit.

  • well what reciever did you use?

  • I used a Spektrum AR500 5 channel full range receiver.

  • whats the retail on those? great review keep them coming

  • sumaran the FunJet Retails right about $79 for more info please click on the first link I added in the video side bar . The link will take you to rcFoamFighters Blog where you can see the wrte up on the plane and link to where we got it.

  • you should cover it with that mesh and tape to make it bullet proof

  • jeflatt, I thought about doing the mesh on this one before I stared to build it but decided against it. Even though it woould stiffen the plane up, I don't think it would do much help if It crashes at these speeds because the foam is not spongy like EPP. It would just break up under the mesh.

  • That was a great review, keep'em coming!

  • Thanks AnyAirRc!! More videos coming soon!!

  • Please, please tell me you put a meter on that 4.75x4.75 4S setup before you ran it like that. I got a couple of the 3700 KV version of that motor last year, and they rate that thing at 700 watts. Ridiculous. The 2350 KV version you are using is rated down at 480 watts, which still seems pretty high for that small a package. Anyway, if you are pulling any more than 30 amps through that thing it'll fry right quick. Watch yer bad sef, Frank.

  • SomeUselessGeek thanks for the concerns. I have done a watt meter text on that set up but I don't remember it being outrageously high. I'm using one of those black 4.75 x 4.75 sport props from hobbycity which pulls a lot less watts than the APC one. I'll have to check it again later. I have been running this motor up to 43 amps on my Bullet Plane with no problems yet. I usually prop down if the weather is too hot. I'm not to worried about frying the motor as they are only $18 to replace.

  • i belive you have a problem.... speed addiction LOL

  • mxf7010g8k it's not a problem at all since I learned to embrace it, lol!!! Love that adrenaline rush!!!!

  • I like it, even though I'm a Stryker flyer. Gotta' get one! BTY, could you repost the power setup you're using?

  • garyshoaf thats cool man!!! A neutral Stryker pilot, don't let BruceM know, lol!!! I just had to do that, sorry. I put direct links to the motor and esc in the video side bar along with a link to our blog which will get you to Hobby People where I got the plane. I will add links to the batteries in the side bar too. if they are out of stock be sure to click the e-mail notification button. If you get one you should do a comparison video of the two planes. Would love to see it!!!!

  • Nice Vid Frank, Thanks for Sharing.

Man that thing looks fast, I can't wait to see so radar clocks. weather is looking nice this weekend in Hermann ;)

    5*

  • Jon this thing hauls A%$#* especially on a 4 cell. I can't wait to take it out to Herman so I can really open her up. Our park is getting too small for these planes. I'll check with Paul about getting out there this weekend and let you know if thats cool with you guys.

  • Sounds good to me, hoping to have 1 or 3 new planes to maiden this weekend lol

  • Cool Jon!! We'll see you out there this weekend. Looking forward to seeing your new planes.

  • wow interesting to see u with a artf

  • I know what you meanFlyHighRC386. I didn't think I would ever build another kit plane again but here it is happening and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with this one so far. Don't worry though we will still be focusing mainly on scratch builds, but I have to say I've learned some cool things from this plane. Stuff I can use in my future builds.

  • Such a cool plane .... Maybe a Good Grayson Hobby Combo Would go good with this plane.

  • RCFLIGHTHELP I am sure a Grayson Hobby combo would work fine on this plane. The only difference is the motor would have to be mounted on the outside of the mount instead of inside the plane like the one I used. This is because the motor shaft sticks out the other end. I don't think it would be a problem.

  • rc people . net does not come up. do you mean hobby people . net?

  • Sorry wmcneal42, you are right. I meant to say Hobby People. I put anannotation in the video, thanks! There is link in the video side bar for more info and were to get it.

  • Very nice and man and that second flight really did move some ;-) 5*

  • Thanks for the 5* startazz!! This plane really moves with that 4 cell in it. Its hard to believe there are guys out there running it with 5,6 and 7cells. That's my kinda maddness I tell ya!!!

  • how about trying a scratch build of a epp design off the funjet fuselage?

    Just idea.

    GET OUT and FLY!!

    BruceM (BFOAMY)

  • BMFoamy I will be incorporating some of the features I like from this plane in some of my new builds but the planes will still be of my own design. If we did made an epp version of this plane we would not be able to release the plans because of copy rights.

  • If you make it one inch wider wingspan it is nolonger protected under copy rights.

But i do understand your concern. And I would thin you can look at it and make few adjust ments into something that flys more to your style and fun level. I dont cant much for the funjet. I am a stryker guy. But i do like the roomy fuse and the motor mount.

    GET OUT and FLY!!

    BruceM

  • Bruce Is this Stryker - FunJet thing kinda like the Ford - Chevy rivalry or what? Didn't know I was getting into some of that, lol!!! Either way I never thought I would like a kit plane as much as I'm liking this one. I just hope it lasts long enough for me to get it going really fast!!!!

  • Nah not a ford chevy thing. they stryker you buy the fuse for 20 bucks and build it.

The stryker can take more of a beating.

The fun jet comes with more stuff but you also pay for it. Just a preferance theng. Not a comp thing. The funjet is nice but i am cheap so i started building the strykers..anyway you all are doing great job keep up the great work..

    GET OUT and FLY!!

    BruceM (BFOAMY)

  • That's cool Bruce! 20 bucks!!! Where do you get them for that price and what do you get. Might have to do a comparison video later on.

  • Fuse is part PKZ1267. Sells for 20 bucks at any local or fav hobby spot. Is only the fuse/nose. I make the elevators out of my foam, ailerons out of balsa so they last at high speeds.(can buy them from from you hobby spot also but why.You can make them) LIke to save where I can. But like I said in the last note. You get less on stryker. But I build. Not a buy and fly. Stryker air foil is amazing I can even take it way up cut the power & glide with the birds.

    GET OUT and FLY!!

    BruceM(BFOAMY)

  • Thanks for all the info Bruce. I may have to check into this but it will be a little later as I have other projects to finish first. I went to the links to your site and videos you have some cool stuff man!!!

  • sweet, i want one :)

  • Awesome dioncuba!! Please be sure to check out the links in the video sidebar.

  • this is really one good plane man.

  • Wingyip I agree with you 100%!!! I really like this one a lot!! Still have a lot of things I want to try with it to get more speed!

  • yeah.. will wait for ur next video.

  • Great review, thanks for posting the equipment on the sidebar :-)

  • Skydive4ever glad you liked the review!! you are welcome. I will be adding more links to the side bar later.

  • nice thats really cool i like it

  • Thanks for the comment exiledconnections!! Glad you liked the plane. I'm having lots of fun with this one!!!

  • Awesome

    What servos do you use?

    five stars

  • Flyboy258 I used Corona metal geared ones but had to make the servo slots a little bigger to make them fit. The slot is designed to take just about any 9g-12g servo.

  • Hey nice review Humphrey. That looks like a cool plane to fly. But be careful not to get another lock-out at the park. As you said, it's not EPP :)

  • Thanks Mike!! I really like the design of and looks of this plane but the thought of another lock-out is always in the back of my mind. I hope it doesn't happpen cause this plane will be toast!!

  • Nice! I really liked the review of the plane! Can't wait to see the radar on it! 5*

  • Cool sloshays!! Glad you liked it. I will try to get som radar clocks the next time I take the plane out. Thanks for the 5* rating!!
