Lightening won't do more than just cosmetic damage to a plane, as shown in this clip. People are afraid of it, but planes are designed to detract electricity away from the plane so even if the worst does happen, it should only put a small dint in the outside but it won't affect the flight, it's minor.

planes have something called a static wick which is basically these rods which connect electronicaly to the body of the plane dissipating any electrical charge which might build up. they help to keep away electrical charge from reaching the fuel tanks. planes also have shielding and surge suppressors to protect their instruments from being effected

Although a plane getting hit my lightning isnt such a big deal, Some airlines moslty in Europe it stats that they must land at a alternative airport because a lishgting strike and do damge to the fuselage. As you can see in this video the planes builed as done its work by redirecting the lighting back down to the ground.

Because of eaither high wind, Cross wind, Visibility.. there are a couple more reasons a airliner may not be able to take off... but thats all i can think of right now.

Airplanes get struck by lightning thousands of times a year, it's not dangerous to the passengers, and it does not cause the plane to crash. Unless of course you don't have your seat back's in the upright position, tray tables stowed, and all electronic devices turned off... then we could be in big trouble...

A plane, and especially a helicopter can pick up high voltage just flying. Never reach for a landing helicopter. Strike you to death.
