I think what's holding you back is the social aspects of Islam. Fear that people will think you're weird for not drinking, gambling, fornicating, etc. Islam is seen as an Eastern, exotic religion when Muslims know it is universal. By accepting Islam, you think you're changing sides somehow and that your place in Western society will be compromised.

My advice: read the Qur'an. That will be your sign. Something will click in your mind in'shallah.
