my budgie was just like casper.... i got her last week and she was completely healthy... i hand tamed her... took her out of the cage... and fed her from my hand... this morning when i went to uncover her cage she was dead... im still crying
my favorite bird sweetie was my best one when i got him he jumped right on my finger the first time i hand fed him seeds because he was new to it and wouldn teat sweetie died the next day i cried a lot i loved sweetie :'P R.I.P
I watched the video this time and i cried!!! i couldnt hold it in and i tried so hard to. i am an extreme animal lover and even tho i only saw this bird 3 times, i cried still. the song just made it harder. i am so sorry for your loss!!! D'x
the reason why the budgies die so soon is because of the food the fortified bull shit that the birds dont need just a cuttle bone and seed and millet and fruit
I'm really sorry for your loss...yes its really hard for the average person to find out when a bid is ill, very pretty looking parkeet..:) he wont be gone because you will always rember him..he will be in your heart :) Tony
My budgies don't really like me - I have an old male and a young female. I've gotten the male to stand on a perch that I put into the cage, then I pull it out and let him fly on top of the cage or where he wants, but the female won't do it...the female doesn't bite or anything, only nibbles, but the male tries to bite me when I put my hand in the cage.
I'm not criticizing or anything! But its bad too have distractions going on in the background. Birds get distracted very easily... Btw the bird is soo cute ;D
How did you manage to do that? What methods did you use? My Budgie is 4 years old now and is untamed and I really want to tame him but nothing seems to be working... Could you give me some advice please? Or anyone reading this for that matter...
There are several ways to gain a birds trust. One is by trying to get them sitting on your hand by putting some of his favorite seeds in it. Or place your finger-hand near his feet. Eventually he will step on your hand. Even if it is just for a second or 2. Keep trying it and you will succeed. My parents have a buggie like that too. They key is patience and talking to it like he´s a 2/year old.
try taking the food out of their cage for a couple of hours, birds eat about 20% of their weight a day so it won't take long for it to get hungry, then just put the food in your hand and wait for them to come to you. it takes a lot of patience and persistance but its well worth it. i have had up to 5 parakeets at a time, right now its just one tiel though
Hi!, just wanted t tell u that it is almost impossible to tame an adult budgie-you have to buy the bird when it's a baby!, you can tell if its a baby when:
1. it has a small spot on it's beak, near the point-it's REALLY young then-that's great!
2. if the bird has horizontal striped lines on his forehead starting right above his nose-as they get older, the horizontal lines recede and they get a plain pale colored forehead.
my cocatoo flew out the door when my mom came home. i cryed for three days my friend she has a parrot its an afrecan gray and she told me that a birds first instinkt is to fly up. i was about 7 when that happend i thought that the bird kept flying up and into space. lol his name was sunny. he was all yellow but his cheaks where red i had him given to me he loved me when i walked out of the room he cryed for me to come back. he couldnt talk though shame.
he died?! omg! i'm so sorry! my boyfriend and i just bought two parakeets. and if they died, i'd be so sad. we love them so much, we call them our babies!
me too every time i take him out he clamp on to my finger with his beak..and he flys to something high and when i get him down heel bite me for a second..i think so he dosent fall...idk..i did this training for months and now he likes to come out..and it was my sisters budgie..he had it 4 5 years and never took it out of its cage,,it was so sad..so i took it...and even though hes a maure bird i still tought him to be nice..im so proud of him..amigine bein locked in a cage ure whole life!!!
My baby budgie does that too. I notice that the more I handle her, the less frequent the bites become. Reacting with agression doesn't help. Gaining trust is key.

A four yr old budgie is, unfortunately, too old and set in his/her ways to tame.
