  • Beautiful and relaxing.

  • sink sink sink

  • If you would film your ship from a better wiew and put more realistic sound on the video, i wouldn't see the difference between your rc boat and the real one

    greetings from switzerland

  • i am gonna try to start a club that makes these and arms them with bb guns like the ww2 rc ships that engage in rc naval combat.

  • i've got a few guestions about her: How does she handle waves thats 3-5 cm high?.

and how strong does the wind need to be before she falls? (or whatever you can say)

'cuz i think i will start to make a rc sailship, which can handle greenlandic lakes...

  • She's a pretty ship, how would you compare her handling, to say, a schooner rig? Tried nothing but sloops before, but this little baby intrigues me! Is that main controlled by a winch or just a pre-set?

  • The main sail is winch controlled, the foremast rotates by servo control.

I have only sailed this and yachts - never tried a schooner - I will pm the links to you

  • A stunning ship which no doubt pleases the fortunate onlooker, well done!

  • i want a good easy one i am starting out any reccomendations?

  • is it motor powered??

  • No it is powered by sails

You will notice there is no prop wash

  • very nice

how long did take to build it

  • Very nice !

  • what wood would you recommend as I am planning on making an rc boat in wood working?

  • Is balsam too light a wood to make an rc boat out of?

  • Balsa is very easy to work with but it is easily damaged - you would need to glass over it to strengthen and waterproof it. If you build light it enables you to have a low center of gravity which is very good on a square rigger. The weight of the craft will depend on the hull shape and waterline desired.

  • The truth is I keep coming back here to watch this video and every time it impresses me. This is the type of sailing ship you don't only build, but you dream about it every minute of the day. The video response on top is also quite impressive, but the ship in this one is so much more pretty, it has a demanding personality. Whoever built it transfered a lot of humanity to it.

  • Thank you very much - I enjoyed building her and she still needs a lot more work on the detailing. I think it will be an ongoing project as the detail is endless.

    Best Regards

  • I know how that is.. how did you find the rigging of the squares to go? Ive so far stuck to schooners for my RC sailers, i'm totally anxious about taller square rigs!

  • The rigging detail and method used to control the sails is detailed on the RC Ships page of my website - it is too complex (long winded?) to explain here :)

  • what's the website for the plans?

  • read info on this video for the site - follow the links on the home page for RC Ships

  • thats a really cool ship

  • Is this scratch built or a kit?

  • It is scratch built - free plans available on the website

  • is she wind powered?

  • brigs ftw!

  • makes me want to convert my RC Schooner...

  • Trust me this is my Dads video really!

  • the ship looks so graceful and the ship is beautiful.

  • Until a bigger ship rams it out of the way. HAHA!

  • Wonderful ship, wonderful pictures how the ship is sailing on the lake. I like it very much.
