Ubuntu 8.04.1 64 bit + Compiz Fusion

I love everything about ubuntu, but ever since the system has updated to the latest 10.04 10.10 11.04 builds, well, it no longer works on my machine very well, i get package errors, gnome desktop crashes and when i login to ubuntu, i get nothing showing on my desktop and need to force shut down the machine :( - And when i install my video drivers, my nice login screen turns to low resolution or horrible text :S - oh ubuntu... Anyway, nice video :D

i've been meaning to install linux (ubuntu). but haven't had the time to.

the compiz fusion is deninitely nice eye candy.

i may install this once i get some free time at home and on my old laptop. (currently using macbook + bootcamp).

is it possible to get a pm of the most useful apps i.e. open office, mozilla, a mp3 player etc etc. cause i'm really wanting to install this. also in terms of drivers installation. do i have to download them all separately?

i have a problem in my resolution im stuck in default resolution (800x600) this is the highest resolution it have.....then i decided to install the nvidia then it said that i should reboot the system after reboot whaaa! im stuck in 640x480 resolution all things are so large...im currently using nvidia geforce2 mx/mx400 im really a newbie 2days trying to troubleshooting it but nothings happens....ur reply is greatly appeciates....ty ASAP

edit: i want to have 1152x864 resolution

Glad you enjoy! That version was from over a year ago. The new one (9.04 Jaunty) is a bit more stable and more powerful.

1gb DDR PC3200, single-core 2.2ghz, 80gb 5400rpm hardrive, ATI 9600/9700 video card. :)

Now I have 4gb ddr2 pc5400, 2.8ghz dualcore, 320gb hardrive, nvidia 8500gt. I will probably try to make a new video soon, I am just having a bit of fun testing (and trying to break) Jaunty Alpha 5.
