Did some-one forget to factor in the altitude when calculating their weights? or perhaps using the Australian method of weight computation... she'll be right mate..
Over-torqued. Those stunts break things on the machine. "throttling it" really is not a an option as most turbine helicopters operate at full throttle or very near it. Torque and rotor speed are more critical and therefore the management of the energy of the rotors or disc detrmine how much can be lifted given all sorts of factors like altitude, temperatures... In otherwards this guy screwed up and may have damaged the chopper.
All he needed to do was get some slack on the rope then throttle it. He'd be able to carry it with momentum that way. But instead he went too easy on the throttle. What a tool. Basic physics bro.
Seriously, that is an amazing bit of flying...it may not seem like it, but that is not easy to keep control when the aircraft is not doing what you think it should.
Em, isn't it alittle obvious an egg couldn't carry that much? But that was indeed some fantastic flying and I'm not suprised he landed right after, he probably needed to shake that off.
its clearly because the tail spinner thing isnt even moving so he cant lift as much duh your all stupid. ive played fsx for ages and so i know this stuff
@TheWhiteOwl23 No, you´re stupid. the tail spinner´s rpm is the same as the cameras fps, thats why it appears to be standing still. the tail spinners only job is to counteract the main rotors rotation. play some more fsx or shut up
He is trying to get some airspeed up as he snatches it off the ground. If the helicopter can get enough speed up he can fly away with it. And if it's too heavy it settles back down and no harm done. Probably would have worked if he had a long line. That's the sign of a real helicopter pilot. I bet he's a logger.
Why would a pilot ever decide to "take more weight than he can handle"? That is stupidly dangerous and reckless. Seems more likely that the slingload was built with disregard for weight limits and the pilot was unaware of it. I actually flew aboard this very helicopter when I worked for MFBRP we all thought the pilot was a little crazy anyway.
@falcoperegrinus82 If a helicopter can get some forward velocity going it can carry much more weight than it can in a hover. Helicopters with wheels do this by rolling down a runway, helicopters with skis can do this as the pilot was trying to do, but usually with a long line, or if the load is internal, by bouncing off a cliff or getting some airspeed while still in ground effects.
well he ditched the load, it could had been large and lite or large ant heavy ,not liked the way he sprung himself foward to get it airbourn that could have triped the heli
your hopless at using a camera

4000 more hops like that and he made it!
He then tries to tow a broken down boat right after this...

Shouldnt you weigh it first........i mean ...your only risking the chopper and your life.!!!!!!

If I was the pilot I would have fired the JATO packs and made sounds like a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Wrong helicopter used. Hughes 500's are just Ferrari's of the sky. Send in a Bell 222ut or UH-1 at minimum.

Lack of flite planning, people doing the job not even trained properly
not only the pilot put himself at risk but everyone around him
imagine the cost of what would happen if he crashed?..., worse cost is "Fatality" Safety first! take along someone who is trained to help sling load.
