I just got the 1545 for X-Mas as well, I hate Dell with a Passion I always loved IBM. NOT LENOVO (LENOVO IS NOT IBM, IT IS CHINESE MADE SHIT)

Anyways, I had always used old IBM ThinkPads like the T21 which was made by IBM before it became lenovo (aprox: 3 years before).

Anyways, The 1545 is alright, I took a good look at the insides, has decent components, Dell learned to give good amounts of RAM from there mistakes they have made in the past. I would use my own home built pc's but low money.

im on mine right now really a good laptop i love it and i think that if you liked the ispiron 1525 then you will love the 1545 even more i got this one for chrismas and mine is blue and my bro go a black one. i really recomed the laptop the only thing that isnt my fav is that where your hands sit it get figer prints really easily but if you just get a clouth it will come right off

Getting a 1545 today, I use an M1530 due to my need for 1080 res screen. I love em. Never had any real problem but drivers that took me maybe 3 mins to find, install restart.

The glossy surface on the inside makes it very easy to mark with fingers or whatever... Same with the screen..

Only issues I saw:

The F keys are the hotkeys; to use them, you have to hold the function key.. Kinda unconfortable for some games... But you can "invert it", somehow... I don't know HOW, but I read it somewhere xD

Volume and caps lock indicators are on-screen, so you can't see those stuff when you're using a fullscreen app... I sometimes don't even see the caps lock when i use it without any fullscreen app :P

OK... you said you wanted a virus free laptop... windows isnt going to be good for you unless you know about antivirus and stuff... you can play games on the laptop but nothing too intense because laptops dont have the best graphics card in them but you can take vista off of it and put on a clean installation of windows xp

Personally i would go for the dell... compared to the Macbook its better value for money and you get a better spec laptop for the price... I love Apple and all but i feel compared to the Macbook you are only paying for the software and the glowing apple logo on the back... if you could... try installing osx86 on the dell and dual booting it with WIndows XP. You should get an Inspiron 1545 because you can get a 4 GB mamory, 320 GB HD 1545 for only $749! On the other hand, A macbook has only 2 GB RAM, and 250 GB HD.
