I, for one, like the shitty recording, the fact that the melody isn't easy to follow, etc. To me sometimes those aspects can have aesthetic quality. It's not for everyone. A lot of people like Varg's music, so in a sense it can't be objectively bad. But if you don't like it, that's perfectly fine.

lets make one thing clear, if youre looking for racism in black metal, look to poland and east europe, not norway. they used racism as a gimmick thing and in someways its related to the far right, but the newer generation is more of a non-political thing.

A majority of the bands from the Norwegian black metal 'scene' aren't racist.
Some of them are nationalists, but that's a different thing.
And metal have always been violence, and similar subjects. ( Minus glam metal, nu metal and metalcore, either which is hardly metal IMO.)
You will see the same violence no matter where they come from geographically, especially if you look at black metal or death metal.

And heathens are pagans, but pagans are not heathens :) A pagan is someone who does not believe in the abraham religions and a heathen is someone who follows ethnic traditions/religions that do not pertain to the bible (jewish christian). Therefore heathens are pagans but pagans are not heathens.
