  • Where can I get this documentary?

  • @snipe1963 It's on the Snakes and Arrows MVI. It was a special edition of S&A released about a month after the regular cd. The high resolution stereo and 5.1 mixes of the album are on there too (which both sound awesome) and several other little things, it's basically a dvd. Search for "Snakes and Arrows MVI". It was intended to be a limited edition so new copies are much more expensive now than when it was new. See the Amazon listing for all the content on it. Good luck!

  • Fuck sake, Neil's a genius with the metaphors, is he not! You can tell he writes books.

  • It's really great to see there flexibility and enthusiasm.

  • You can see how happy Geddy and Alex must be they picked this guy back in 74, and how much they love to watch him play those drums.

  • Rush malignant narcissism

  • Al can play over anything -what a wicked guitarist !!

  • Openly secretly recording on the fly

    /watch?v=oIQ7YCTgtCk&context=C33e4d69ADOEgsToPDskLOBQziMZAF58G2EHn4ALTZ

Yet again awaiting my rat pellet for 2012

    Vacation planning.

  • Man Geddy has a funny laugh 4:51

  • I must have listened to this album hundreds of times. I even now run to this and BU2B/Caravan and I still feel the excitement and energy listening to them as I did when I first 'got' each song. I just can't stop being amazed.

  • 8:32-8:41 and on....look at Geddy....then Alex. it's amazing what these guys do to/for each other STILL......after 30+ years..

  • Awsome,like a fine wine.Better with age.

  • the beauty and creative force behind a noddle! less is more! haha love it! it's all about the mish!

  • 4:48 rush loves facebook, i dont ...

  • I grew up in an environment where everyone it seems got drunk, high, raised hell, and were just everyday irresponsible douches or criminals. I got caught up in some of that when I was younger but decided I wanted to be better. If only I lived around some people with a sense of morality and structure.

  • @steelflame1 If you find That Place let us know as well plz

Hate living with all the shit and scum wasters and nobody's

  • damocles on drums, philosophy of the sun!

  • 4:47 - Mr. Magoo there

  • Hey you, who live in USA, Canada or any country with English as mother language, please tell me what things Alex said at 04:24 and they all started to laugh a lot (I love this part! eheheh). Thank you and hugs from Brazil.

  • @WellMefisto Alex farted and said "There we go,"... "I have to walk now".

  • just killing it now?? or how about for the past 3 decades!!!!! hahahah

  • god damn Neil Peart is SO FUCKING SMART I GET CONFUSED FROM HIM SAYING SMALL WORDS ZOMG

  • that "when the wind blows" drumpart at the end is not quite the one that ended up on the album, no? i like this one here better. more hits on the snare here. but maybe the difference is only a mixing thing.

  • 5-5????

  • Even the GREATEST can be better!! Beautiful lesson

  • Limitations??? Give Geddy a rubber band, Neil a plastic 5 gallon bucket and Alex a strong piece of fishing line.....and they'll make an awesome song with just those items.

  • @michaeld161975 I once played a bass riff on a hammock

  • alex's face motions are priceless lol

  • Where's part 5?

  • Three of the COOLEST guys on the planet!

  • does Neil look like the actor Kevin Spacey or what? striking..

  • Arent they "out of order" in the photo shot at 4:15 secs. into the video? Lifeson goes on the left....Lee on on right if they are facing you.

  • Rush are like the comedians of rock

  • Nice to see Neil laughing that much :) Great band altogether!

  • can u please upload the other parts, im dying to see them after watching these ones so many times. thanks!

  • "The Way the Wind Blows" is my favorite song from Snakes & Arrows.

  • i love how that beautiful four-piece is a "limitation" for neil peart, whereas i would kill to have a set like that lol

  • we'll get the big guy on drums

    love it

  • cup a clap have ya.....end of day smiling....

  • uhuahuauah

    geddy's just great

  • looks like Jaco still had one more song to sing, and who would've been better to do it than Geddy Lee himself, right?

  • I just can't take them seriously when they put on their "American" accents. And all those "candid" shots, shees.

  • the ending is great! i love how they're all cheering neil on. alex's face is priceless, as is geddy's dance/fist pump and "whoo!".

  • geddy's laugh. i was on the floor!

hes sooo adorable! like when hes moving to neils drum beat and cheering him on :D

i juat wanna hug him :3

  • So cool to see Alex and Geddy there with great moral support through Neil's drum tracking.

  • Kudos to Nick for being brave enough to go to a legend like Neil and telling him that The Way The Wind Blows parts he had worked on weren't good enough. Kudos also to Neil for being willing to go back and work on them until he got it right. Amazing how much better the song jams with the re-worked parts.

  • @easttcobb

I agree 100%. I would love to hear what the original drum track sounded like before Nick "nixed" it.

  • @Trekker1801

If you watch the part at 6:37 you get a good idea of what Neil was playing in those parts that got replaced. Just shows how the drums can transform a song.

  • its really cool!!!i have been a fan for 30 years!!!! iplay a les paul too!! and a jazz bass!!

  • I love RUSH :)

  • Yeah! malignant Narcissism! one of the best instrumentals I've ever heard.

  • lol, I've been a rush fan for the past thirty three years since i was thirteen. and i tell ya, they just keep getting better and better every time i see them.

they are so incredible together. and so funny lol. from what i have heard Neil say, Alex is the real clown of the group, and as you can see, has kept Neil busting up like that for almost forty years :]

  • geniuses.

  • Where's part 5?

  • @thericecrispy2 I think this clip is both 4 and 5 combined, according to the title.

  • @kalbi ah nevermind. It's 4 of 5.

  • at least we didn't have to see lifeson in his underwear when he was sitting at his computer in his room in the middle of the night. scaaaaarrrrrrrrrrry.

  • This is why these three are still able to make music after all this time. Who they are transcends the music. And now that I've seen "Boosh" (?), they really need to keep this guy! He's like one of us AND a producer, too. That fact that's he's a fan seems to make him a better producer for the band.

  • The best part about them laughing at the picture they took is that it wasn't even that funny of a picture. Haha.

  • LOL at Geddy's laugh.

  • My god Neil can smiles???

  • anatomy of a rock jewel creation

  • wheres my chicken!

  • "Guys, can we do the album shot now?" God I love Geddy.

"Now who's crying." Neil's amazing, and he looks so happy here, nice to see that.

"I gotta walk now." Alex is just a very funny guy.

  • I really like S&A

  • Geddy's laugh is awesome lmao

  • The Best !!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4:24 just goes to show that toilet humor never loses its kick to the male species. ^_^

Oh, Alex. You just can't help yourself, sometimes, can you? XD

  • @EntustinMeYourLife You're just kind of a stick-in-the-mud, aren't you? :/

  • I was not aware that I was being a stick in the mud, in any way. If I was, I apologize. I meant what I said to be in good humor, poking fun at Alex for being the crazy boy that he is. :p

When it comes to Rush, I certainly am NOT a stick in the mud! ^_^ I'm obsessed with them, and love each member fanatically. Like Geddy has said, "Alex is the funniest man you'll ever meet in your life." :3

  • @EntustinMeYourLife So the indignant little "male species" comment was really uplifting toward Alex (& the rest of us "male species" for that matter) & his brand of humor?! Followed by the cynical little ^_^ face? Crazy "boy?" Are you a manhater? Is every guy who enjoys a little "toilet humor" just a "boy" to you? Toilet humor, while on the whole is much overused,is usually inserted just at the right time by guys like Alex. You don't seem to understand the diff. with sardonic comments like that.

  • Woah...Please, take no offense to anything I've said. I understand the difference. Believe me, I am not a manhater. Especially not toward Geddy, Neil and especially not Alex. I did not mean to insult you, rafro007. Pardon me.

I certainly enjoy "toilet humor," myself, so I have no room to look at guys as "boys" since I have a similar sense of humor. I may be female, I do not look down upon the male species. You are right: Alex used that at just the right time, and it was quite something. :)

  • He is the greatest drummer and the greatest writer, now you can see he is always the greatest person.

  • Gotta admire Nick for challenging a drum giant like Peart to totally change 4 verses he had worked on for months. The finished parts really add a major kick to the song.

  • were is 2 of 5 and 5 of 5!

this is my favorite album since Moving Pictures.

  • Imagine being trusted by these guys to tell them how to improve a song.

  • it's amazing that despite being so structured they still have the desire to just "jam" after hours of recording. Just one more reason why I think they're one of the best rock bands to ever play.

  • 2:58 JIZZ*IN*MY*PANTS! He's even staring at computer screen for the love of jesus.

    <3 Rush

  • Love seeing how they pick their stuff apart...good shit!

  • friend of mine was at that session. word is that Alex puffed. he is a mad man! Rush Rules

  • thats cool as shit

  • Try to isolate Neils laugh from everyone else at 4:50. It's just such a goofy laugh. It kills me every time.

  • Haha excellent laugh....Ged's banshee laugh cracks me up too.

  • @ToungAndGrove The quiet ones are always the funniest ones xD

  • what happened to part 5? IT IS GONE!!

  • This was great..one of the best bass riffs i heard

  • Omg The best pic was on Geddy's Cell lol

  • That bass line was most defiantly cool as shit!

  • The last part of this video is the best part of the whole making of S&A video. Having Neil go back in and make a change to what he had been working for weeks on. To his credit, Neil admitted that the changes requested by Raskulinecz were appropriate and made the song much better.

  • thank`s to Rush, the best in my life... RUSH.

  • Best part of the series.Imo.Lifeson is hilarious on that photo shoot.

  • Perhaps it's due to editing, but you never see these guys pissed off while recording or at any other time. Just three good friends doing what they love. Amazing. That is a rare combination for such a long period of time.

  • If you like to know Neil Peart better, buy his book - Traveling Music -. When he talks about his musical influences and his life in general. Fantastic!

  • Roadshow isn't too shabby either. :D

  • His books are great. I love Ghost Rider, too. And I just read Roadshow not too long ago, and I thought it was wonderful.

  • one more! they have at least 3 or 4 more.

  • Gods never fart!

  • LMAO!!! Oh shit!! HE DOES!!

  • I'd just like to say how amazing it is to see how close they are! I mean they're just 3 good friends making music and there loving every second of it. Neil your my idol!

  • Did Neil say "Fucker!" lol

  • alex: 9:06 SO AWESOME!

  • how old is Neil? just thinking he looks much younger when he playes and he has his little hat on...

  • he is 56, sep 12, 1952. so, there u go.

  • I love Geddy's laugh. And Neil laughing, too. It is great to see. I can't wait for their next album.

  • yea they arent making one.

  • Who knows, really. I think they'll do one more. I recently read somewhere they were in the writing process and about to record this summer. It all depends on how they feel. I think they've got at least another one in 'em.

  • Alex announced they would be working on a new album the fall of this year

  • I believe it was Alex, yes. Which means it will probably be released sometime in 2010, depending on how long it takes to write and record.

  • When Nick was telling Neil "Curious to hear.." Neil was giving him the death look.

  • Yet again, thankyou! It's great to see them enjoying themselves so much. Rush deserve every recognition of being master musicians and rock gods of the intelligent type.

  • Its great to see Neil being able to really laugh after the tragedy he went through. I think making albums and touring is therapeutic for him and it may even be the case that Geddy and Alex weren't crazy about remaining so prolific but because of what happened this would help Neil out.

  • what tragedy Neil went trough?

  • His wife died of cancer and his daughter was killed in a car accident in Canada the same year.

  • Ok, thanks... that's very sad....

  • Wife and daughter died very closely, almost marked the end of the band. I believe the first album they recorded after that was Vapor Trails, so Neil had quite some time off to try and recover from it. Poor guy

  • That bass he's playing with is awesome!

  • the album shot lol

  • it's realy nice to see niel happy in this video ;)

  • "So just four new verses then?......fucker!"

  • I love how Alex maintains his composure for almost the entire photo session, while Geddy and Neil are just losing it.

I've never seen Neil laugh that hard ever.

  • Yeah, that's just the appalachian mountains for you. ged and neil are just so awesome, they are so laid back. alex was so serious during the photo session. i think that he had a problem earlier. that's all i think.

  • geddyleesangel101, what do the Appalachians have to do with this? They were working at a place in the Adirondacks. Alex was serious during the photo session? He was? Really?

  • Why does their producer remind me of Jack Black? lol

  • I had a different tab open just listening to this and I had that exact same thought.

  • Geddy's laugh is highlarious.

  • haha yeah him and alex both. Its also great to see neil being more confident, happy and joining in with ged and alex alot more and just having fun!

  • I love it! So much of Rush's great songs come from the bond and friendship they share. The Game of Snakes and Arrows definitely proves the fact that being the great friends that they are allow them to produce great albums like Snakes and Arrows.

  • this extra stuff on the DVD's is so great, can't get enough of RUSH!!!!

  • This is cool!
