@utubeleplague That's because Bjork doesn't bother herself with such constraining nonsense as 'clicks'. She threw the rulebook out the window and grew her own music from the ground. That's true genius - it's like creating a whole language by herself, that only she can really speak, but we all seem to understand.
@Haldered Excuse you? The creator here is MEREDITH and no one else. The things bjork does is putting her ticks on it and a big band on the background to make look like the epic-est shit out there. This last one is also her favorite tick.
This video is unique and important, because there are only two versions of Björks "Gotham Lullaby" on youtube - and regreteable she never released it on track. So at least this is the only usable version. Well done, bjoerkhoerer!
@expander64 Yeah....I wish Bjork record this version on a single. At least release it as a kid's lullaby track on the account she has children herself.
A lot of people prefer this version to the original, but I'm gonna have to disagree. Meredith's range is more impressive than Bjork's (which is no easy feat!), although I do like the strings on Bjork's version too.
@ska2808 i am one of those who agree Bjorl's version is better, in a lot of ways . . . , but Meredith Monk does have brilliant music! Kudos to both brilliant artistes.
I feel Bjork's version is better, well, for one, I am a big fan of hers and secondly, I like her vocal ranges when she does this song!!! I wish she wouls record an official cover of it in a single or album somewhere
this is so beautiful, the song matches perfecty with her voice, it's obviously quite better than Meredith Monk's version, there was nothing left to expect from Björk, greetings from Mexico!
well.... i really do adore the work of both artists.
but i have to say that i like THIS version better because of the strings :-) Björk played the song several times during her vespertine tour and there often with a harp; in my opinion not as magical as both, the original and the brodsky version.
I think you have a misconception of the work... In Meaning.. this is, in basic a congestion against something in modern society, not a gimickal performance, but one of endurance and structure.
this song sung by bjork with the brodsky quartet is going to be included in a new meredith monk compilation coming out on 20 February !!! :DD

why compare? we are all so individual
i am sure bjork is covering a track that she feels so close to - the lonely deep of our own minds, so personal...
thanks bjork, for sharing your appreciation for the wonderful Meredith Monk

Thank you Meredith for providing your Art to this good pop singer. If it hasn't been for you, this woman wouldn't have been singing this.

While I am a fan of Meredith Monk's version, I feel this cover has a fuller sound.

i was so hoping for a studio version of this cover - but no. Hopefully there's better recordings than this one.

Is one not open to opinion!
I believe the original Monk Verse is far more Competent... this verse is like a Vermier reproduction.

The way you completely bashed her was extremely unnecessary.
You're entitled to your opinion, but to go as far as to say she should quit singing is a bit much.

where did you get this song ???
Oh.. so beautifull

Sportyak67 3 years ago
so, what did you expect? do you know the original?
bjoerkhoerer 3 years ago
Well, I'm not exactly the biggest Meredith Monk fan, so I don't know. But it did end up better than I expected.
Sportyak67 3 years ago
@bjoerkhoerer I thought it would be not that good, maybe a little pitchy. But no matter, because it was good.

@Sportyak67 I love this version by Bjork. I wish she she would record in a single or something.
