what causes this? I try to take my headphones out whenever I'm not using the laptop but I have another problem, the volume controls on the keyboard do nothing now...anyone know how to fix this? I've played with different drivers with no luck...thx for posting this tho...
Hey Rashnaoj, thanks for posting the video and showing us how you went about fixing it yourself with the toothpick. Saved me time and money.....I should have bought you a present, if i happened to know you. Many many many many... thanks girl.
I was trying the same thing you say in de video with coton tips, headphones, and other stuff all morning. Then i found your video, i don't know why i gave it a try agin with a safety pin while watching your video..... didn't work... but a few seconds after when i was looking inside the jack with the flash of my iphone, without sticking anything inside, it started working in the exact same part of the video where your mac started working again.
@LupenRules The Macbook's headphone jack switches between optical audio and normal analogue via a switch. When you insert the mini-toslink adapter into the headphone jack, this switch gets pressed and tells the macbook that optical audio format should be activated. Unfortunately, sometimes this switch sticks for no reason. By putting the toothpick into the headphone jack and moving it in a circular motion, you can manually release the switch and switch back to normal audio mode. Keep trying!
@dizzle2633 Eek! Be careful using metal! As unlikely as it is to get a shock, it could cause a short if it bridges a circuit wherever you're poking it.
can some one help me well i was playign a game it asked me to run it on safe mode i said no so i got a black screen pressed option+command+ESC failure it when wurse i was playing music Eminem -When Im Gone. i waited till Battery died .turned computer on every thing seemed ok i played music and BAM no music no sound nothing PPL i need music PLZ HELP ME im new to the mac WORLD HELP
@saiwankurdi I think the audio problems in both Macbook and Macbook Pro are the same.. try to do the same thing that I did in the video if it doesn't work.. I'm clueless :S
