Was not staged, I was in the box with the sound guys when it happened, working man was not suppose to be played either, so that was a throw in to make up for the mess up, right after the explosion alex lost the guitar, this is why the road crews are there to get the ball rolling! Great show!
@247firerescue based it off the CT show where they didnt play it,or so I was told. but I stand corected anyways they alway put on a great show and if they have to recover from a mishap they do it gracefully!
I was sitting loge on the side where geddy was playing, only 13 rows up, and it was clearly a guitar problem. I could see Alex saying to Geddy and Neil that his guitar wasnt working and he was talking to the sound guys trying to get it on, but it was hilarious with what they improved due to the technical failure. Either way it got fixed and it was back to epicness. 10/10 on the show!
This was absolutely *not* staged, but if you know anything about Al & Ged, they are all-about "the comedy". His rig went down towards the end of "Far Cry" when the pyros went off... not sure if it was related or coincidental to the pyros. Far cry finished w/ just drums & bass - no guitar. I can say with 100% confidence that the techs were NOT delaying things for comedy - they were scrambling to get his H&K rig back up. It's just a good thing Rush has a laid back sense of humor.
@odawg65 ... yeah, I felt bad when his delay was on the wrong setting/patch for the beginning of 2112. "Oooops!" - Keep in mind, this was their first night back from a long break, kicking-off this leg of the tour.
It didn't seem staged in any way to me. I was seated right about mid-floor under the scoreboard. The guitar dropped out halfway through Far Cry and Neil/Geddy finished it by themselves. Then when they came back for the encore Alex still had no sound. He was trying to get Neil and Ged's attention and when they noticed him they went into that polka-thing. I've seen Rush about a dozen times and this is the first glitch I can remember.
@bankser@laplut@RealDragonHawk - it's great to have your perspectives, although I coudl get the video, it was hard to tell what was going on in the detail you saw. Great night - glad you all enjoyed it.
I was seated stage right, about 80 feet from the stage and had a great view. The "no guitar" part was an act somewhat. Alex had some slight issues with his guitar, but I believe this was staged. The techs were queued to come up an make it look like they were trying to resolve his "guitar issue".
@laplut - I was seated around the same area (house left, 14th row) and when Alex came over to the side at one point, he yelled at the techs and he seemed pretty earnest. So I don't think it was an act, per se. But they could have gone/stayed backstage while they worked on it, so I suspect they played it up a bit.
@RealDragonHawk, I did see Alex yell out to the tech, "This is awful", and may have had a legite issue, but I think they played it up as you said. I was stage right, loge 13, row 7. Great view! Great concert!!
i was there last night and im so glad someone has video of this, thank you! the whole show was amazing but i just love the fact how they can just mess around like this when shit goes wrong and still be amazing. long live rush
The chant down front was awesome! "Still no guitar...still no guitar". Alex: "I have no guitar." Ged: "That's Awesome!". Ohhh...I have...wait...."Still no guitar, still no guitar". Regardless, that show kicked ass!
Alex's rants and improv alone are worth the price of admission!

I just love how they can be so tight and professional - at the same time as keeping their sense of humour! What a band

It was definitely NOT staged...I don't know how anyone there did not notice the guitar cutting out in the middle of the song immediately prior
