  • Its the Octavio ...man.

  • douchebags

  • real music has a fucking solo in it :D

  • Great song Kenny!!! I just wish that you were as forthcoming on who REALLY sang the song, as you were with the PROPER way you play the song on the guitar!!! You had me thinking it was you(as in the video???)... Hmmm, If I was the singer in your band, I'd be pissed off about that one....

  • @gothembadboy1 "the singer in his band". exactly, haha. its his band, he writes their material. this is just about the only band where the lead man isn't the singer, let him have his moment to shine man, you realize his father-in-law is mel gibson? thats gotta have sucked since like 2005. let him have a guitar center session...

  • Cant stand the hairdo.

  • Just can't believe how many jealous people have commented on this video. JEALOUSY, one of the seven deadly sins. He is talented and HE MADE IT. You haven't so keep taking lessons

  • his hair cut make him look like a walking penis

  • too ooo ooo much coke dude!!!!

  • this guy is a DOUCHE/ "It's like I've got a drummer in my brain that kicks my body into action where my right handed is so important" fuck you man

  • @johnstangg He's talking about the song not being straight strumming, it's more rhythmic........... douche.

  • New name for SRV = KWS^^

  • that kind of hair just dont look right on a country boy like kws lol

  • great musician - but too arrogant. dont't like him!

  • these guys are absolute douches. arogant pieces of shit who arent very good.

  • This kenny guy bugs me,

  • dont matter if it start on d major or d minor...... still cheesiest song ever..... holy shit....

  • @codehendrix HAHA i agree brother.

  • @codehendrix Can you imagine if you were reading a coment like this, about a song that you put everything into? You'd be crushed. Have a heart.

  • @Fendermadlewis cheese cant have a heart....... maybe a plastic one at best

  • @codehendrix Ha! Dam good answer man! ;-)

  • kenny wayne sheppard probably fucks that guy on his left....... every night..... cheesiest guitar player ever.... so lame.....

  • Comment removed

  • @codehendrix I'd like to see you do any better fuck-o

  • Blue on Black was one of my favorites. I can remember sitting on the hood of my car down by the wayside on a hot summer day listening to it over and over. It had a personal meaning when I was younger. (still does) Ive grown to appreciate Kenny more and more as an entertainer. Back then I was just the young yuppy chic with a crush on a famous guy who might just happen to her town and whisk her away.. I'm gonna learn to play this and post it later. Kenny luv ya and wont post it without a shirt!

  • wish i could afford an american strat :(

  • If any one can teach how to properly copy someone licks its this srv clone

  • Finally! The owner of a commercially successful song clarifies the bullshit in some of these YouTube vids. Thank you very much, Mr. Shepard.

  • Kenny I like your new singer fantastic

  • Kenny is the best!

  • wheres he start when goes in to the solo, what key is the scale he starts jamming out too? much appreciated thank you!

  • @funkrockandroll looks like it's D pentatonic

  • Hey Kenny, since you said you look at these videos, there is a slideshow by Curtis Mitchell, "Play'n Rock'n Roll" and it has a picture of you. His comment is that these slides are pictures of musicians that are the best of the best. I know Curtis and he is originally from Shreveport, but lives in Dallas now.

  • I love this tousled head

  • How could anybody ever hear a high e string playing in this song? WTF, i've never watched this before and could hear how it was supposed to be played YEARS ago.

  • i never get tired of this song,i get i could drive from here to pheonix listening to just this song and still not get tired of it

  • possibly the worst hair i've ever seen. thank God for the song.

  • They're high.

  • Class A douchebag swollen with self confidence

  • @MrJohnyGoatzyn Agreed he is an average guitarist who needs to self promote...to think morons place him in elite staus is a joke

  • it sounds better with a D Major

  • Haha, I'm the shirtless guy he mentions at the beginning. That's pretty funny man. I only did videos to share them with my Dad so when we got together to play he would know the songs. A lot of my recordings are usually right after I run so that's why I always got my shirt off. Oh well! Funny stuff anyways!

  • @cepifer I think the guy he was talking about is DocHolliday (/watch?v=LYS28cbbzfc&feature=related), the one doing a lesson. Either way, I think he's a douche for making fun of guy who is just a humble fan, an amateur guitarist trying to teach the song to a kid who asked for it.

  • @cepifer Oh,I thought you played for a special request for demondawn69.

  • Come on, l hate John Mayer to but he really is light years ahead of this dude. Who the fuck cares if you mute the high E, still sounds like a garage band.

  • sounds like shit with the little e or without it... is this music hard to people?

  • 21 people still thinks the song starts with a D Major.

  • @ilhadi haha

  • @ilhadi schrack that make it 33 people

  • dude he rocks and everything but i bet he watch the john mayer video when he talks about his right hand. make you sure you watch before anyone startas talking shit.

    i'm not comparing them

  • @dnnysrock - If you mean that learned from John Mayer with respect to his right hand playing, this song was recorded 4 years before JM released his first album. I am not bagging on JM, but KWS was a blues star before anybody had ever heard of John Mayer. That being said, I like JM's playing style better when he plays blues.

  • @forre65413 i mean the explanation he gives . there's a video of mayer talking about crossroads .

mayer's playing is on a whole other lever. is in my opinioon he is out there with srv , hendrix etc.. but i don't know i'm just saying thath kws is a good player but he is not going to be a legend or something like that if we just focus on his playing

  • @dnnysrock you are an idiot, Kenny Wayne Shepherd came before John Mayer

So stop going off about things when you don't even know what you are talking about, Why would he be getting pointers from John Mayer? If anything it was the other way around.

  • @peaceskypeace13 i don't much about him he came before? like in the early nineteen's?

but watch vidoes of john and this dude. only mayer technique is much more prolific than kws. you can't deny that

make shure you watch him and then talk

  • @dnnysrock Jesus, learn some English before you start typing like a fucking retard. Your whole point is nonexistent because you are such an idiot.

  • Killer solo! Just can't get enough of it.

  • he could have pointed out a very simple mistake made by basic players with out sounding so patronizing's .particularly as i have yet to see him play this song live any where near as good a she does in the studio.

  • @MUDSHARK111 as most artists don't douchebag. pull your head out. what the fuck have you done lately

  • @jimpage62 "as most artists don't douchebag." most artists you listen to apparently gobshite."what the fuck have you done lately" i tell you what i haven't done lately, patronize other players /or fans who have liked what i did so much they have flattered me by trying to teach others how to play it .you really are a prick .

  • good luck with your crazy ass father in law mel gibson, kenny!

  • awesome!!!

  • Hey check out my cover of this song... Vocals aren't to great but im more of a guitar player

  • NOT A LOT OF CHORDS OR YOUR VOICE

  • I want Noah's Hendrix T-Shirt!!!!

  • Cool guys! Check out me playing Blue on black....add me and comment. Thanks!

  • I think Kenny Wayne needs to cut his hair!! Noah is better looking now than he looks in this vid!!! two very talented players!! Noah's voice is AMAZING!!

  • Kenny sounds so fucking baked!

  • well now i can play it right! lol

  • great song, kenny's a bit full of it and talks too much crap

  • Saw you in Ft Myers FL. Small venue, and it ROCKED! Thanks for posting the TRUTH!

  • gtrjoeles said it all..WORD to that Joe

  • What an ass...making fun of people genuinely helping others learn songs on YT ~ yeah some are good, bad and close. But no one is KWS; so all lessons are educated guesses. Too bad; maybe he could learn few other licks from some YT lessons instead of the same SRV recycled B.S.. I was hoping age/maturity would catch up to him - but obviously that isn't going to happen.

  • @gtrjoeles sounds like you cant take good advice, but sence you seem to know it all asshole play it out of key. what a jerk you are.

  • @gtrjoeles

yeah except when the "lesson" that they are talking about will NOT help players to learn the song correctly. if you're going to legitimately call it a LESSON then at LEAST have the skill to know the song almost verbatim (as well as the skill to know when you're wrong) to the original so that the song that is wished to be learned is ACTUALLY TAUGHT, not just bullshitting similar chords together to resemble the original. that is called a poser; not a musician.

  • He's being candid.. whats there to dislike..?

  • the band should really be called 'shepherd and hunt'.....i really like kenny wayne, but why should he get all the credit when he doesn't even sing his own songs.

  • 7:00 the most stolen SRV lick in the book haha

  • wow three fuckin chords, i cant believe he even said anything about people playing it wrong.. who gives a shit, there are ten kids on my street that can play better than this dude

  • @jclp81 oh really? then please explain why he is one of the most successful blues guitarists in the world and the ten kids on your street are not.

  • @Janesch well i think you know as well as i do its not what you know but who you know

  • So many "celeb" guitar players will not take the time to tell you shit. So I took his comments as a helpful hint, not as being arrogant. Great song Kenny !

  • gimme a break, this kid was and is a prodigy,it has to be aggravating to see and hear people playing your song wrong..........rock on k.w.!

  • gimme a break, this kid was and is a prodigy,it has to be aggravating to see and hear people playing your song wrong.rock on k.w.

  • How many guitarists does it take to change a lightbulb?

    2.

1 to screw it in, and another 1 to tell him he did it wrong and should do it like this..

  • Dude he is great, he is allowed to be full of himself

  • @cvms123 no one has an excuse to be full of yourself i get mad when i hear clapton was arrogant and chuck berry was arrogant b/c thats just really not how a person especially one who is a role model to kids should be

  • i've always loved this song since when i first on the radio around middnight (or even later), and been searching for this since like there is no tomorrow.

  • Hes kinda full of himself

  • @seanshowtime1996 Confidence gets you trim bro.. You'll learn one of these days

  • @SiskNBAS hes a great player and everything, but theres a difference between confidence and being full of yourself. all im saying is i dont like his personality. i mean if i were him i really wouldnt care that ppl are playing my song wrong.but hes a badass guitarist thats for sure

  • No octavia effect for the solo?

  • Trey Parker

  • Love KWS....the man is growing as a guitar player god bless him..!!!

  • Kenny is so blazed. awesome.

  • it touches you because its beautiful to listen

  • hahah... that is so cool that he is teachin his own song...

  • KWS IS A great player but hes kinda full of himself and i think thats why hell never be a legend

  • @leavittobeaver just like the guys from metallica aren't legends. no way. the only reason kenny wouldnt be a legend is because he plays a style of music that is no longer radio savvy...

  • @numenorean7 I agree with you. you don't hear this kind of songs on the radio or any those new bands would play this kind of blues.

  • @leavittobeaver ... u can t say it better men ...

  • Comment removed

  • my lord, noah hunt can sing! what a voice

  • That shirtless guy.

  • Take that Bonamassa!!!!

  • perfect combination.....KWS and Noah Hunt....long may they rock

  • Bonamassa >>>>> KWS

  • i hate guitar center i will never take my thousands back, much less pennies, assholes!

  • what type of pedal/effect, does he use when he plays the solo? It got a fantastic tone!

  • @barekallmeg somethin like tube screamer

  • @barekallmeg on the original song he uses a captain coconuts pedal made by analog man.good luck finding one and if you do there expensive as hell

  • I love this guy's voice. His tone is similar to Hendrix. And Kenny is an amazing guitarist! Seems like a real nice guy too.

  • Very nice! Love it!

  • I finally saw the gross "shirtless guy" giving instruction on how to play this tune the wrong way. He's a legend in his own mind !

  • i love live performances especially when its just guitars

  • Heeelllls yea drummer in his brain

  • These two are both so bad ass! Kenny is a top shelf player! Period! He is one of the best blues-rock guitar players ever! Noah is such a good singer too. His voice is so gritty.

  • What a fucking stud..........

  • this guy is so underrated he can blow john mayer away with one hand

  • @weathered79 ahahahahaha...He's a great guitarist...but to claim he could, "blow john mayer away with one hand." well that is just plain foolish! Mayer is an elite guitarist, I doubt that KWS could play anything that JM couldn't. You might need to listen to some more JM blues tunes.

  • Great song indeed! “song almost didn’t make it” I don’t know what it is or how to explain it, but certainly things like this meant to be. Gonna be a classic in the future. Simple and beautiful: The best blend. F-sharp note in the D chord issue is 100% right!!! It does make a hell of a difference. I strongly believe that when you play other’s music you must respect the fundamentals. Otherwise you distort what the author want to express and transmit. Excellent lesson to the “YouTube teachers”

  • It is his song, he is telling guitarists how to play it correctly, if you are too lazy to do it right then go play your tunes don't hatchet someone else's

  • awesome! thanks;)

  • How does a Dm pentatonic scale work over this D C G type progression? Anyone understand the theory here? If it was a D blues, wouldn't the progression need to be D G A only? It obviously works, just want to understand why....

  • @fishmank27 It's really just a matter of isolating the common tones within the Dm pentatonic and choosing those that would fit into the respective chord changes.

  • I know its probably already been said, but the whole thing that he said about the hight "E" string on on the d chord is kind of funny because you play some of the other videos of them playing the same song. The lead singer is playing a regular d chord. Or at least that is what it looks like to me.

  • No high E thank you man..was driving me nuts cause I thought I had the totally wrong chord!--Did not sound like what you are playing on the CD!--Joni

  • Its so easy a caveman can do it :) guy on the right kinda looks like the cavemen guys from those commercials :) good playing guys :)

  • I wish my guitar was black so you could blow on it and after blewing on black (not to confused with an porno) I could sound maybe close. I think even now you'd be like nice man...now watch this, and then surrender further chops...cause bruce lee's demonstration, demolished me.

  • hmm...very nice. He's calmed down a lot. Good for him. good instructional as well. He points out rhythm playing. important.

  • KWS is a very overrated guitarist!

  • Kenny the right hand is the most important part in playing. No matter what you play.

  • @MusicMedic5150 Untrue, you CAN'T play without BOTH hands, they are equally important.

  • that solo was nice

  • Whis guy is cool

  • Heard this on radio and really caught my attention.Don't know who sang these though. Now I know..

  • man looks damn stoned but got skills

  • @riverdragon666 most of the best and most notable artists were fucked up on something lol but yea love the song killer

  • is that a pack of cigarettes in his pocket guess he uses them to cover up the smell of all the weed he smokes hahaha

  • This guy is still around ???

    Holy CRAP

  • What are the correct chords? was it D5 to start out with ?

Can some one send me an accurate tab?

  • @cwieand its just a D without the F# on the high e string.

  • @Blackoutwalkin

    Thanks

  • yeah, soooo high, heheeh

  • Stoned

  • i love noah's voice its so nice and kennys guitar playing is amazing they just make a great combination of vocals and guitar.

  • Kenny and Noah are the best duo coming into the market of rock n' blues in a long, long time! They float between genres effortlessly and are as down to earth as their music. I have heard them, met them and enjoyed their music for years and it is always solid and incredibly deep thinking, yet fits every situation. Gifted!

  • One of the best modern blues songs of our times. Great tune.

  • whos the singer hes awsome

  • Noah Hunt

  • were you not paying attention?

  • great song

on german: schade, dass er noch nicht auf europa tour ist

  • I was there and WOW love this guy!! never a bad note always a good time

  • I saw him last nite! he was amazing!

  • at the omni? I was there! lol

  • is this quiggly?

  • yeah. its Quigs. lol Who's this?

  • sarah, daves friend

  • this might be his only song that made it big but if you listen to his other stuff its good. Deja Voodoo and Last Goodbye are great

  • It is a fantastic song.....too bad it's his only one. And wow is he impressed with it.

  • have you even listened to any of his other stuff, or are you basing that solely on the fact that you haven't heard it on the radio?

  • No, I've listened to all of his recorded stuff.

The rest (in my opinion) is just typical blues tracks. They're good listening music, but Blue on Black is a work of art that will last forever. (I should be so lucky to achieve one fantastic song) It's an amazing accomplishment.

  • thats awesome how they just prove them wrong i love it

  • geez, he flaired his hair on 4:50, gay.

  • i tink i know dis blond guy...isn t he a member of the backstreet boys??? hehehehehe....boy band rules.....!!! hahahahaha!!!!! peace!!!

  • @ potterman83 r u serious - SRV himself said he stole a lot for Albert King "his mentor". Listen to Albert and you'll hear it. Stevie also said that's what you do: "you take stuff from a lot of different players and incorporate it".

  • hey KWS stop copyng the same fucking licks than SRV, common you´re a big boy now it´s time to get your own sound man...

  • Yeah, he´s right - the right hand is very important. Listen up guitar suckers! Great singer - with an attitude!

  • recommended this to my 13 yr old nephew, budding, next great unknown guitarist :-)

  • music in general is a gift, for all who can actually make it. Not everyone can play guitar let alone n e other kind of insturment. But for those that can, no matter how good he/she may be, if it's from the heart...it's all good!! Shredders included, lol

  • @crispycritterz34 that may be one of the best comments i have read on youtube. summed up perfectly

  • good song

  • Ya know, here on youtube people sit around and cut real talent down. Music is great no matter what level you are at. It all comes from our heart. If you have no heart you know nothing about music....
