but not 100%. They had a lot of emotion in the original, and even more emotion and movement in this version, but I still didn't dig the whole package. I still stand behind these guys 100% though because regardless of a few vocal or instrumental dislikes, they still average out "Bad ass" to me. Maybe not to YOU, but to ME, Periphery is a Yes!
Taking screaming out is usually to bring in a more broad range of new fans. Namely the type of people who don't typically listen to heavy music or screaming; They hear this and buy the album because they think "Oh, this heavy stuff isn't that bad after all." Then they get the real deal, which still would seem rather acceptable to most people in my opinion. Periphery will likely still perform the old version live, unless their management or label advise otherwise. I like most of the new vocals,
if you guys were all true musicians and shit, yall would stay opened minded to it because good music is good music, let alone if it has screaming or not, periphery is a amazing band, and spencer sotelo is one of the most open ranged vocalist, and if you were all truly periphery fans, you would accept the new version and listen. it all has a meaning behind it....
I love this version! Stop hating on it cause they're is no screaming. Big whoop. There's still the version that's on their album, so go listen to that if it bugs you that much.
Oh dude I know all about it, I grew up with Sleeping Giant and XDeathstarX When I say christian rock I mean like skillet and Jeremy Camp. I do like Periphery but It just makes it feel like its missing the intensity without the heavy parts. I feel like all the screaming made the song hit harder and stay in my mind more. You know? Its still good but just ok to me.
If you guys would be in Periphery...you would understand why this sounds better than the one on the album. And I mean, you have to have a song without screams. Besides Spencer is getting better that way.
I expected the video to have some sort of anime in it. Like Final Fantasy style. This version of the song is amazing though. Surprisingly, my favorite part of Periphery is probably their melodies and this song is full of it.
@Tapout474 "And what of this illusion, Ive come to know it's not the same. Holding back the distant memories we hold. Presently I've found I am not alone, In a world of Infinity sewn."
Wow, I'm really surprised. Misha hasn't tried to plug his new drum patches, guitar lessons at upcoming shows or brown nose any other musical project for a whole 4minutes and 27 seconds.
Spencer has definately improved as a singer. I'm glad he's not as whiny as he was on the debut. As for the remix itself, I like it, but I just wish they would have left in the screaming bit. The video itself I hated at first, but it kind of grows on you. Still, it feels too much like some emo band video.
But oh well, it's still great. Can't wait for this EP!
I think many people would agree that Spencers vocals are a bit too loud in the mix. Still, Spencer kicks ass with his vocals on this. Looking forward to the EP!
@SuperchargedXX I always took this song as kind of showing Spencer off a little, you know? This tune is not difficult instrumentally, making it a perfect opportunity for Spencer to show off his chops. I enjoy the changes, but everyone develops their own opinion, so it's no big deal :)

this is undoubtedly the best song I've heard from periphery so far... Too bad all of their songs aren't as good as this one.

why does everyone always take the screaming out? Screaming takes talent too. It totally brought the intensity down. Sounds like Christian rock now.

Holy shit. They remixed this song and re-recorded some parts. This version is pretty sick. Though, I wish they left the screaming after the solo.

Hello, This song is amazing.
The video made me feel like I was watching an "MTV Hard Rock" video.
I liked the graphics at the end.
Spencer's voice is incredible, but it overpowers the musical talent of everyone.
This version is weird, I don't like how it's cheesy.
Oh yeah, and everyone's playing really slowly and they look corny.
Misha Mansoor is the man, I just wish I could hear him better /:
he's so cute too lol.,
