  • I YouTube searched for "drum circle" and saw nothing but nauseating hippie sameness and random playing. I YouTube search for "pennsic drum circle" and suddenly I'm seeing and hearing actual danceable rhythms with a definite sense of musicality. This baladi-boy can't wait to someday go there in person with my darbuka, to have a front row seat to the best of the music and dancing!

  • @rmcdaniel423 Aye, we are blessed here to have such talent. Have you nothing like this where you live?

  • @DarbukaGirl Sadly, even though I'm only a beginning drummer (IMO), who doesn't yet have the skills to even do a proper solo or improv, at my local events I am often the "best" drummer around. There's an incredible drummer (an SCA Laurel, actually) on the other side of the state, but I seldom get the chance to see her.

After grad school, I'll be able to play more and travel more. I can't wait! And thanks for sharing this video.

  • this drum beat just seems so enticing. i hope i get to see something like this in real life

  • i miss estrella so much. hopefully i wont be deployed for this next one

  • I like this..it seems so authentic & real!...reminds me of going to festivals where they started drum circles & you just let the music take you and it's such an amazing vibe!

  • That's pretty much how it happens, most of the time. That's why I keep going back for more...

  • Awesome, WAR!

  • 2007 war sneaking up on us
