  • 93-95 no advertising and wasnt much content on web then but irc was awesome in those days

wasnt much porn on web then either

  • lol internet revolution

  • Wow I born in 1993, and I just can't think of living without Internet, thanks to Internet I meet my boyfriend from Netherlands and I'm from Texas. We meet and we are about to get married! I can't imagine without Internet my life could had been very different!.

  • "I can indulge my deep and abiding passion for all things thai" LOL. things haven't changed

  • "Deep and abiding passion for all things Thai" definitely translates into porn/fetish

  • I'm British, I didn't know I love Thai THAT much...

  • i think the "child porn epidemic" is bs. I think its a media stunt that was exaggerated. If you have ever watched a comedian named Doug Stanhope, he explains how he has seen just about every porn there is and not one time in searching for porn has there been an add for child pornography. The internet is a tool, it is neither bad or good. However it greatly accelerates the exchange in data and therefor accelerates the evolution of ideas, culture, etc.

  • @Rockyzach88 I guess you have never heard of 4chan or Tor...

  • @ILLhumanati oh yeah...well ive heard of them but never really browsed either of the sites.

  • i wonder how many people accidently type PORK instead of PORN?

  • Start looking into #bitcoin.

  • 1:47 anonymity!!

    #OccupyInternet

  • HEY, IM BORN IN 1993!

  • Internet is tool of pepole!

  • ASCII-porn!

  • 01:23 richard, may i suggest xhamster, lool

  • I remember the time i still had to learn how to use a typwriter, pff I'm getting old or the internet has developped very fast.Pity the net is used nowadays for evil purposes.(war-money-power-childpornography.)Especially the last one is a horror!! Let them shut down the net and things will change drasticly. All the bs about inportant news info over the net, we knów what goes on in the world and nobody can change it anyway. We are ruled and others decide for us.And those who do are possesed by Satan.

  • Ahhh, I remember the days where the internet screamed at you for 30 seconds before letting you use it.

  • i started off with webtv and i really miss that thing, it was awesome!

  • 3 years later we got the web. If it wasn't for the development of the web I don't think it would have gotten as big as it is today. What do you think?

  • @GamepitDAngelo It's hard to say what could of been and it's a trivial question anyway!

It's like when people say, "imagine if we had not won the war", well who knows? Maybe things would be better? We would speak german, well would we know the difference? If that's all we've ever known?

Anyway there are far more important things to discuss, how about the fact that tax = theft? It's always a good topic!

  • $200/year? I was paying at LEAST 10x more than that for my connections back in '93!

In fact, I pay over $1,100 today!

  • @LaKravenStudios You are getting ripped off then.

  • 2012, the death of the Internet it self.

  • Patty from Canada is sooo right.

  • Mustafa from Somalia: YES! I finally got conne [server disconnected]

  • 1992: $200

    2012: Free

Someone really dropped the ball when they made wifi huh, lol.

  • @RoyalRamirez there was all sorts of free internet in the late 90's ... aol, netzero and more. :)

  • $200 a year?

    hahahahahahahaha....

  • Someday..... just someday .... I know it ...it will be free!

  • "Stein in Oslo" (Capital of Norway)

*Showing the flag of Sweden on the screen*

    Me: *sigh*

  • And the rest is history. The internet is civilization type 1 telephone system. We are civilization type 0.72

  • I had set up a couple of web site when this was broadcasted. Also designed and implemented the network and Internet connection on are campuses at our university.

And the flag for Sten in Oslo was not norwegian, it was swedish.

  • $200! Bloody hell I'm glad that price never stayed.

  • @benthejrporter a year... if that was here today, with the speed that we have today, that price would be amazing

  • @benthejrporter it cost more now, avg around 30/month times 12 is 360

  • I spent a year in South America from July 93 to July 94. I returned to a changed world in the US, where everyone I knew was online. My life hasn't been the same since!

  • Sten in Oslo.

    *Shows Swedish flag*

    D:

  • @kazath It's a danish flag! :P

  • @kazath yea and finally deaf people will quit bothering us with their needs! shame on them!

  • @ballm0use we need to help the ones that dont know how to write......stay off the internet

    +

  • it's really funny that most people now use the internet and think like it always existed,i remember when i was 13 and not many people had an internet connection because it was so expensive in greece.buying a computer would cost at least 2500 euros and internet was so slow that could piss you off.now i have a 24 mbps connection with 18 mbps real speed and i do everything online.those ads its like watching world war 2 videos.

  • The net has become a godsend to most a curse to those in higher places.

  • My family had a computer in 97 with internet. My family couldn't afford it themselves, but one of my uncles gave us one and another payed for internet. And yes I do remember the first and one of the oldest email sites in the usa AOL.

  • Oh god, Peter Mansbridge back then

  • Early internet only connected to Turkey, Peru, Greenland and Nova Scotia.

  • A decade later, one 15 year old boy created a website that sparked the downfall of the internetz.

  • 1:06 is a Swedish flag, not a Norwegian one.

  • This reporter just retired

  • lol, we watching a video about The internet On internet :P

  • may no wonder why fishermen dont like the internet?

because of the fishing scam .

  • "There sharing scientific data" and now what are people doing on the internet?

  • Internet was commercially marketed in 1993 - At the same time i got birth!

  • @TamilRajaPower *birthed* and me too

  • 1:06 - Oslo is in Norway, but the show a Swedish flag :)

  • The internet is not a big truck, the internet is not something you dump on, the internet is TUBES! The internet is Providers, the internet is Consumers, the internet is you and me!

  • Gerardo in Mexico sounds like George Bush.

  • Its funny how a device created to talk with people around the world, share philosophy, culture, news and more, turned into a device used to look at pictures of funny cats, laughing babies, videos of people getting hit in the balls, and porno.

  • wow. it's insane how much the internet has shaped out world. and it's so incredibly new even still. makes you wonder what it will be like in another 15 years...

  • What does Internet mean to you?

    Dan from Chicago: "Porn"

  • @OneWayProduct Yes, I could provide links for Richard from England's deep and abiding passion for "all things Thai", but YouTube would remove it ;-)

  • I remember the sound at 0:43 LOL

  • It's a series of tubes!

  • "Stein in Oslo" *Shows Swedish flag* Silly Americans and your ignorance! =D

  • @ThePTech That was a Canadian show. The mention of Nova Scotia, the accents, and the CBC logo in the bottom right corner give it away. Evidently, the Yanks aren't the only ones making mistakes!

  • @imcustomized Oh, my mistake! Silly North-Americans and your ignorance! =D*

  • NOVA SCOTIA WHAT WHAT

  • 0:45 I know this! IT'S A UNIX SYSTEM!

  • 0:46 I miss those oldskool carrier tones.

  • lol internet

  • The University of Asmara in Eritrea?

  • haha in oslo and thay show the danish flag.. Fail!

  • Oh my god....things will never be the same again.

  • ACTUALLY MADE IT'S DEBUT IN 1992...

  • Crazy isn't it?

  • @1981jilly I remember the Apple 3's in Middle School, taking 'Computer Class' and playing games with green and black graphics... half of them from a tape deck.

  • Comment removed

  • That sound at :46. It hunts me!

  • This inter-net thing is a fad. Snake oil, if you ask me.

  • Wow who knew people from other countries would all have American accents?

  • Oslo and Sweden? Have they mixed up the flags or are they just stupid? (Or both?)

  • And 18 years later? Chatrooms, e-mails, DSLs, wifi, mutiple browers at once, online dating, pornsites, facebook, myspace, twitter, online banking, smart phones with internet access, etc. Yeah, the internet pretty much rules the world....scary! O_0

  • wow and look now how the internet looks

  • Anyone remember Telenet? You had to place the telephone receiver onto a pad in order for it to dial to get on the primitive internet. Was absolutely horrible back then.

  • 1:05 I never knew that Oslo flags for Sweden :O

  • Ah, memories..the sound of dial-up.

  • Ahhhh, internet connecting sound: From MS-DOS to Windows XP.

  • I CAN INDULGE MY DEEP AND ABIDING PASSION FOR ALL THINGS THAI.

  • @Gzero91 I CAN INDULGE MY DEEP AND ABIDING PASSION FOR ALL THINGS THAI.

  • Why did they say "From Oslo" - and then there was a Swedish flag? :P Makes little sense.

  • how did i get here

  • The few developers who had a part in making the internet available to the public posed as 20 year old strippers and chatted with random people across the world.

Thus, rule 34 was born, it doesn't matter what it is, there is porn of it.

  • @SkysWeirdProductions ahahahah

  • and then the porn was born

  • LOL RICHARD FROM ENGLAND

  • The thumbnail says everything there is to say about the internet.

  • Wat do

  • @Gzero91 i lol'd

  • Comment removed

  • SWEDEN!!! YEAH! XD

  • The most striking thing about this clip is the fact that people could actually spell back then! I first 'connected to the Internet' back in 1993 myself, and now, almost 20 years later the technology has advanced but people's grasp of language seems to be regressing. is i rite?

  • @DaithiDublin i dunno lolz, mebbe ur rite. Being serious though, I think it was just as bad or even worse back then. They just "cleaned" it for the news. If I remember right, people were even more incoherent thanks to limited space to write your text (that's how "leet-speak" was born), it was the same with text-messaging. It used to be just quick blurps like "plz call bak" or "any1 d0wnl0ad tat new shar3ware gam3", and I remember magazines printing "guides" on how to write and understand it :)

  • Wow When did this come out? :D ima stop using ms dos and tel net now :P And Wow everyone So happens to speak English too :D :P

  • wtf mexico had "inter-net" back then!!

  • the phenomonon known as "inter-net" sounds pretty dope!

  • 200?!!!

  • Peter Mansbridge looks the exact same still...

  • Im 29 now and im one of the few the had the Internet in 1990 in school and by 1998 i had dial up. i had to tell my mom the internet was the thing i need to do school work, at the same time i learned how to code HTML. Kids today take internet and Tech for granted.

  • windows vista was a tool AGAINST human spirit !

  • Peter had no hair in 1993 either.

  • 1:05 "Sten in OSLO"

    *displaying swedish flag

    facepalm.jpg.exe.gif.pdf.bmp

  • I was born in 1993! The interwebs is amazing.

  • I AM the I AM!

  • My deep passion for .... wait for it.....

    INTERNET PORN! hahahaha

  • @MetallicBill Lmao i was thining the same

  • Could you live without it now?

  • Internet change are world

  • Free Internet for all.(except Mahmoud Ahmadinejad )

  • MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCHMUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCHMUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE.

  • This was back when the phone jack got cancer just so we could use the internet.

  • Only if they knew how big it would become

  • lol... Only if Tower Records could see that few years from then, Napster would be created. XD

  • can you imagine what it would have been like to be one of these people giving testimonials to try out such a computer as some of the $3000+ gaming rigs we use today... to give one of these people an alienware laptop and a custom built desktop machine would be unbelievable to these people

  • its funny, in this he calls it "internet" while nowdays we call it "the internet"

  • @TheBoxOfAwesome i call it the internets

  • just a fad... kinda like electricity

  • I like ketchup and sugar

  • If only they could predict 4chan...

  • Comment removed

  • Color, age, and nationality don't matter? There are plenty of racists sites on the internet and jokes about Soviet Russia all over YouTube. As far as age goes, that's true. There are way too many sites showng porn to anyone of any age.

  • @WebVMan to true about that shit man.

  • Internet connected to phone lines? That will never catch on.

  • Just you wait, pal. In 18 years, it's gonna be nothing but teenagers getting drunk at parties.

  • I can't believe they forced Nolton Nash into early retirement so that asshole could take his job...

A British guy with a passion for things Thai... Oh god, we know what that means...

In conclusion: God bless the Internet.

  • Stop using the internet to upload stories about the internet! It won't be long before it becomes self-aware..

  • I wonder who the first internet troll was
