@Hitmanfan91 i agree but not with Trash Metal part, thats acceptable! But unfortunately i feel that most of the population is begining to lose the interests in the amazing classics!
@alphare3 Spot on mate. Every kind of music from the most fluid jazz fusion to the most complex death metal deserves respect as the players have put their time into creating something for the fans. Music critique is and always will be an opinion, with none being more or less important than the next. Cheers ;)
brother you are blessed with such an art appreciative child! lol great great video.... (ps. i auditioned at Berklee with ACCESS DENIED by weckl and got accepted. i say that with much humility of course just sharing weckl magic and love lol)
sorry guys but having all the "ingredients" doesnt really make you the best chef. Difficult doesnt automatically make things good right? Weckl's music lacks colour i find, dont get me wrong i am a drummer myself and i loved Weckl when i was young but now i cant bear it! everything he does is so similar! same notes same structures, same chops, same sound zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ahi tienen a un gran Futuro baterista con muy buena cultura musical felicidades al padre de este nene tan hermoso por mostrarle y darle muy buena cultura musical
haha, im a weckl fan too! at 14 yrs, firs heard of him when i was 12. but have been listening to this stuff since coming out the womb. haha love it :)
@Hitmanfan91 My soul dies a little when I see somebody who likes Dave Weckl as much as you stating that Metal is just noise. Some metal musicians are in a way far better technically than jazz drummers, as much as some jazz (or of any other style) drummers have a finesse and a groove some of them just can't dream of reaching. All styles of music deserve respect, as long as it can convey something, and because you do not like it doesn't mean it's not worth being listened to. Cheers. :)
@Alphare33 Just because I think most of it is complete noise does not mean I don't appreciate the musicianship, such as the guitar work. Metal drumming is not hard technically. The only thing you need to learn to play most of the metal around today is double pedal and the blastbeat. For you to even suggest Chris Adler is technically as good as Weckl is laughable, if I were on a Lamb of God video talking shit then fair enough. Forgive me if I think this kid would be better off with this music...
@Hitmanfan91 I'm not particularly found of Chris Adler, I was thinking more about Gavin Harrison, Mike Portnoy, or TesseracT's drummer. But trying to compare drummers is getting away from the point : music operates at a very personal level, you and I can agree on this. Many people consider metal as "noise" because of some bands that only know 1 scale and 2 forms of blast beat. This genre is as complex, diverse, dynamic and immersive as any other if you know how to find the interesting bands.
@Alphare33 Well I know how to find the metal bands who don't scream and don't rely on double pedal, which is why I'm a huge fan of Iron Maiden.
When I listen to Jazz i hear huge diversities in all the things you said between its subgenres, from Louis Armstrong to Dizzy Gillespie to Weather Report... but when I listen to today's metal (not ALL metal) I just hear too much screaming and too much double pedal. I don't consider anything but the guitar complex, and the dynamics are all way too loud.
Curious to know, what happened to that class of OJ at the end.

This is the type of music kids need, not that sleezy rap and club music crap going around, or that Trash Metal noise.
Loved it when she said his name, he's one of my drumming heroes I would love to teach my kids to say his name someday too.
