Here again Paul Washer says: "Someone had to drink down that wrath. Jesus Christ on that tree bore the guilt of HIS PEOPLE and stood in their place." Who are his people? Well of course, the elect only. According to Washer, Jesus did not drink down God's wrath against the sins of all mankind but only that of the elect. Hence the fact that God's wrath was against the sins of the elect only and not of the non-elect.
@lessingtom Now I get it. You just troll all of these videos that you don't agree with. Why don't you focus your efforts on 1) Studying God's Word 2) Evangelizing 3) Attacking false prophets, not Godly men who proclaim the truth of Scripture.....
Does that mean Jesus never prayed for unbelievers? What about "Father forgive them for they know not what they do" or did He pray that prayer for the believers as well?" When He said that He did not pray for the world He meant that He could not pray that particular prayer for the world. Some prayers are for unbelievers only and some for believers only. Surely you know that, don't you? You can't pray something like "Sanctify them through thy truth" for unbelievers, can you?
@lessingtom Lol No We should always pray for unbelievers. My point was that he did single out the elect who are special to him. what is the deal with you on here anyway. Christians don't need to be arguing. :) Liz
Then you agree that Jesus did not only pray for the elect, as you say, but also for the non-elect whom He predestined to hell even before the foundation of the earth. Now, that's what I call real love. I'm not arguing, I'm just trying to get you to think for your self instead of following people like Paul Washer and his Calvinist buddies like a parrot. They all use the same old verses to strengthen their own agenda of election.
10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
(Isaiah 53: 10)
Truly, truly Gods wrath was in that cup in the Garden when Jesus asked God if he can pass up this cup. Go look back in the bible on matthew 26 and flip back to Isaiah 53..
Jesus was depressed or miserable was because of all the men and women who had no idea what sins they were doing against God, he was afraid of God's wrath on man's wickedness!
The wrath of God couldn't have been in that cup. Think about it. He said to James and John, "You will indeed drink the cup I will drink." So, if James and John would indeed drink the cup, that would mean that the wrath of God was not yet satisfied.
Let me explain. I didn't say that Jesus died to stop suffering. I did say that Jesus suffered worse than the rest of the apostles suffered.
Maybe I'm just being nitpicky, picking at the details. I'm not a big fan of Paul Washer but I loved hearing him on dating. Watch those videos. They're super deep.
If the cup that Jesus drank was merely sufferring, then who drank the wrath of God for our sins?
The cup he shared with his disciples has to be a different cup to the one that Jesus was thinking of in the garden of gethsemanae or he would not have prayed "let this cup pass from me".
I prefer hearing the preaching of the gospel than specific applications. Though I agree the specific applications are good. The gospel though is the joy and delight of the christian.
Who said someone had to drink the wrath of God? lol.
I concede that I cannot prove biblically that the cup was of suffering, but I cannot see it being the wrath of God. I haven't examined the particulars yet, but if we assume that the cups were the same, then I can't really think of anything else.
If we assume that Jesus drank a different cup, then there is a world of possibilities for which Jesus would sweat blood. One of these possibilites is separation from the Father.
If the cup being talked about in the garden is the one that he shared with the disciples, then he would be a coward as Paul Washer says in this video, the discples went unflinchingly.
And if it wasn't the wrath of God, then how can we stand right before God? If God's wrath has not been propitiated we'd still stand condemned.
I got it!! James was killed and John was exiled, right? Jesus was both killed and exiled.
Killed- crucified, lamb led to the slaughter
Exiled- separated from His Father.
Think about it. Who asked to sit at Jesus' left and right hands? James and John! Didn't they both drink the same cup?
It's a possibility, yeah?
Anyway, I think this seems like kind of a silly thing to discuss, don't you think? But it's always nice to get a different perspective. Thanks a lot for your insight, Rhuanjl!
@MtelH do you have a brain? guess not by your reply. ames and John! Didn't they "both drink the same cup?" are you kidding? read and study your bible. thats is you read.
help me! what i dont understand is say that my father owned a company, and his workers was rubbish.. and i worked for him.. i wouldnt get sacked for them just so they would sort them selfs out. does anyone understand
Many Christians have give their lives for Christ through the centuries and yet we modern christians complain if we have to go through any trials. Great message.

@lessingtom Christ himself said " Father I don't pray for the whole world, but for those you have given me". (elect)

Suffering, I believe, was in that cup.

Different context. Nothing in scripture tells us that Jesus died to stop sufferring. The cup has to be God's wrath.
Rhuanjl 2 years ago
I didn't say that. I said that Jesus, James, and John drank the same cup; the cup of suffering.

Steve Anderson? Sanderson1611? You can't be serious.
Paul Washer is brilliant, but Steven Anderson preaches eas believism and kjv-onlyism and various other things, but not the gospel.
