@verono29 its a phrase in powerliting terms you have to press the full weight with a pause if you take the weight down and "bounce" then you have momentum. If you pause you take the full weight the correct tecnique is to load your lats i.e bring down slowly acts like a spring! Powerlifters train to get maximum kinetic energy i.e speed means lower weight for speed one week and assistance and one week heavy (see westside barbell)

@sgtfitz71 At 40 even 45 you should be in your prime. If you lucky enought to avoid major injuries. This is strength world and not speed sports. You need 15-20 years to reach your peak. Andy Bolton broke deadlift record at 42 man. Some guys peaking in mid 20's but than again they going to retire in early 30's. You're right on track to hit 600 pounds in 3 years as long as you stay shoulder and peck injury free.
@m5p944 If you eat right and rest enough you should be able to continue gaining strength well into your 50's. I just spotted a guy at the gym who was 55 and just pressed 575 for the first time in his life. He had been strength training since he was 35. Strength training is NOT a young man's sport. It takes a long time to but size on. If you start too young (early 20s) you will probably injure yourself....late 20s is optimal for long term growth.
