as the morning sun rose recently i softly sang this to my girlfriend who is full blooded cherokee, while running my fingers through her hair, she woke with a smile and a tear leaving her eyes. she wrapped her arms around me and hugged me what seemed like forever. she was blown away that i surprised her in this way, even though i am not native american myself this musical piece has made a profound and deep impact upon me.
@officialgmusic you TOTALLY need to give class's in romance man.. I cried when I read what you did. :) I am not native either, but feel the same as you about this song - it speaks to my soul. I truely believe its because its in praise of Gods majesty and His power - being thankful for his creation and the life he has gifted to us, you can feel those things in any language-this one happens to stir my sould more than any other. Praise God! Thank you for this day and my wonderful life! Praise God!
I'm looking to get 'We n' de ya ho' tatted on my arm with the heptagram of the great seal. Could anyone help me out with the correct spelling? As I've seen it written all sorts of way (A we n' de Yauh ho; for example), or even if you could help me spell it properly in the original Sequoya alphabet itself that would be awesome ! All comments greatly appreciated !
This song I used to play when I was pregnant with my daughter Lyra but unfortunately she is up with the creator now and though it hurts to hear this song I listen to it to give me a peace of mind and that I know my daughter enjoyed this song.
I look white, but on my dad's side there are rumors about us having cherokee in us. I look much younger than I am. I can see the cherokee in me and my mom has sioux in her but we dont know her past since she was adopted. but we met a native american and she could see a lot of sioux in us. trying to find out our past. beautiful song, walela is very talented. :)
The first time I heard this song was like a deja vu experience. I have some Cherokee and Shawnee on my mom's side and Sioux and Choctaw on my dad's. It must be some connection I have to my Native ancestry. This is the perfect song in the morning to wake up to.
I am small part Cherokee, sadly never knew my parents as i was adopted, however i would like to find out my Mothers side as she was part Cherokee also and see who I may have been related to.
@davidw0603 Did you check the adoption registry for your state? and with the freedom of information act you can find someone pretty easily. if you know her name, try white pages and a city, state.
New adoption laws require adopting parents of NA keep the cultural natural parents in the childs life.
Remember when I was in USA and was with my native american friends at the tribe gathering in Missouri. In the mornings we stood gathered in a big loop singing this song to the sun and the new fresh morning. How I wish I could do that every day. But its a long way from USA to Sweden and I only have the memories left.
I'm not Native American, but my mom is a painter and would listen to these songs when I was little. This song especially holds great feelings for me. It makes me feel quite nostalgic, actually. Very soothing. ^^
Yes it is a shame that some can not get past personal dislikes and listen to the words and the beauty within these words and the wonderful voices which bring them to us. It is a real shame that some had such hate within their hearts that they did what they could to silence such beautful voices singing such wonderful words. I only hope more will hear the truth of the words and find the inner peace within so that we can one day live as one and respect Mother earth and all her children
This song gets me up in the morning. I feel refreshed and ready for the day when I hear this song. I take pride in being a Cherokee Native American. Thank you <3 :)

Our Native Americans have such a connection to The Great Spirit, God, who created
this beautiful planet. I think that is why all of us from different cultures connect with this music. We feel the reverence for God's creation.
Modern America has trashed the planet and should shamed into restoring God's living canvas of wonder.
