    jimi hendrix n billy cox left the band in 1965 , he wrote purple haze xmas 1966 and it was given its public debut with the experience in sheffield england in january 1967 and released in march 1967 , it got to number 3 in the uk charts. its famous octavia effects

    this version , ( king casuals) was released in 1968 (brunswick) and also in (i think ) 1976 ( as it was popular on the northern soul scene) j jones plays on this, not hendrix
