  • I think this is epic, very inspirational. Can i ask, did you use C ++ ? ?

  • Thanks for the positive comment. It's actually coded in C#. The development kit is completely free for Xbox 360 Independent Games. You can download the compiler "Visual Studio C# Express" and the extra gear you need to make games is "XNA" (also free).

Most games would be coded in C++, but this development kit uses C#, which is easier to use (with a marginal loss of performance - not that you would notice this on most indie games, as they're not massive 3D worlds!).

  • Can i have it if i promise to be your friend? It looks really cool.

  • Hi Jedus. Thanks for the positive comment!

  • great music. who did it?

  • This was my first foray into producing music - and it had to fit in around the coding! We ended up with 7 tracks in the end, but I hope to do more before we put the retail version out. Garage Band is a powerful tool with lots of loops - especially as it came free with my Mac!

  • so that funky beat and guitar riff off the beginning is a pre-recorded loop? that's what i loved. i just thought it was all original. the music is still rocking regardless. i'd like to do my own music in one of our games sometime, too. i'd love that challenge.

  • I'm afraid that it was just a recorded loop. I have a Yamaha keyboard and a MIDI to USB connector so that I can record my own loops using MIDI instruments. However, I didn't have much time for that for Dream Build Play.

  • Look awesome. I like how your bullets are big and easy to see. Makes it much easier to see what's going on

  • Many thanks. We tried to make all of the enemy bullets bright green (apart from one or two special bits), so that it's as easy as possible to see them!

  • Wow guys - this looks really really good. I can't wait to get my hands on this when it comes to Xbox! Who did the design work?

  • Jackson did most of the sprites, hud and menus. I did the space backgrounds and a few of the bitty sprites and such. We're very happy with how it looks, but know that we've got more potential for future projects!

  • Dude, this is incredible! I had no idea you were so talented on the gaming front! :D I hope this gets you a win or at least some success!

  • Many thanks for your kind comments!
