@dogband1 in Fallout 2 on enclave oilrig a scientist from enclave that was a part of Vault Tec tells you how actually the vaults were simply an experiment of social matters. vault 69 with population of 999 women and 1 man vault 13 where the Water chip was fragile . vault 15 where power failed. 87 i think had a box of puppets and one man. another had normal population and a panther in it. vault 1 was full of scientists. but none of them survived as they were like infants at household... many more

Actually, Vault 101 was open for a short period of time, but when Overseer Ass took over, he closed it entirely for fear of everyone leaving, except for scouting missions. Then after the lone wanderer was in (dunno what date) they stopped the scouting missions and stopped enirely. So if there was ever a nuclear blast, I would want 101. :P
