Typically, airsoft means that the guns fire plastic pellets 6mm in size. The powers of the guns are lower than your average BB gun and are non-lethal even to small animals (rats+).  BB guns are usually mainly metal and usually fire a steel/aluminum 4.5mm round. They can be (not always) more powerful than an airsoft. The smaller pellet size coupled with the heavier wieght, mean that BB guns are lethal to animals such as squirrels and rabbits and can be used for hunting them as well.

I dont know about where you're from, but in Australia (not sure about UK where this was filmed) BB's are these plastic things that are shot. Airsoft is using metal pellet things, sorry I cant give a better description but there is a difference, possibly just a regional thing with terming what Airsoft is

@AkatsukiEmil I can't say for this site but many people use grenades, you can buy specially made pyros and flashes that shoot dried peas (so you know you've been hit) or you just agree on, say, a three metre kill radius. You can buy 40mm grenades to shoot from a grenade launcher, which launch a whole bunch of bbs out of them on impact. again sites have their own rules for them, they're generally referred to as 'Moscart'.

The bullets are either fakes, or spent rounds that have had a new tip fitted to look like new rounds. They are used to hide the BB feed tube, and to make the gun look more realistic.

For casual airsoft-ing, I was set on getting an full size M14, but now I see the merits of the socom version. Is the trade off of a shorter barrel worth it? Although, it would take away from the classic M14 awesomeness, in my opinion.

@DiscoDude82 inner barrel length is pretty non-consequential in airsoft. The hop up and weight and quality of BBs are going to have more of an effect on accuracy and range, the TM M14 hop unit is considered one of the best. But like you said, cut down barrel and polymer stock < full length and wood stock *glazes over, drools*.

GBB Pistols will be between 0.6 and 1 usually, AEGs, shotguns etc are limited to a maximum of 1.1, and sniper rifles are limited to a maximum of 2.3.

The reason those numbers sound strange is because we set our limits based on FPS, not Joules.

@willezxz yes the AUG is a great gun to use because you get the accuracy with the long barrel ( caused by the bullpup design) and the compact design ideal for CQB scenarios( check your field velocity limits) it takes lots of time to get used to the bullpup fonctions considering i used an m4. To conclude aug's are 5 stars

@willezxz as long as you know how to reload bullpup magazines correctly, they're pretty good.

my friend had one and i decided to try it out once, not a very sturdy gun especially if you get the plastic model (manufacturer escapes me) of it, but it's pretty cool. you can't switch between single and auto though, instead it works like the P90. squeeze a bit, single fire, squeeze full and it's auto fire. pretty good gun. just remember how to reload from the back it helps alot coz it's hard to do
