@izzzzzz6 Sorry, I don't know, I only tried it with 30-50W max. However, a very similar antenna (Solarcon 5.4 m, 1/2 λ, fiberglass) can take up to 2 000 W of power, so in theory 600 W on a Black Pirate should be no problem.
@FUNNYTOM10 Hello, FUNNYTOM, I use it in strong wind and in electric storms - in my current configuration, the antenna rests flat on the roof when fully folded.
Thanks, I also have the impression, it is quite sturdy and still it is flexible enough to withstand wind (probably due to the fiberglass/laminated plastic body). Regarding the tuning, it works best around 27 MHz; it can also go as high as 30 but with higher SWR values. Your Avanti Sigma is pure aluminum, am I right?
Yes, it is a 5/8 Black Pirate. The point? Strong wind and lightning. I have a flat roof with no lightning rod and the 5 m sticking out during an electric storm does not give me peace of mind...so i fold it remotely.
hi, do you happen to know the power handling of this antenna? i have one and want to try it with a 600W linear, thanks.

that is borderline useless.

Can u tell me how u wired the coax wire on antenna? Thanks
CCSinventions 9 months ago
@CCSinventions I used a standard 9mm PL male connector and soldered it to the coax cable. The PL connector connects directly to the antenna.

very good job

Excuse me but what is the use of moving this antenna around?

Wow pretty neat. I suppose you could do the same with a small rotator and a 90 degree elbow.

Can one still get that antenna?

Hi, as far as I am concerned, I bought used it in a local CB store - I assume they are already out of production.

Ok. Well it looks like a great antenna. I use an old Avanti Sigma 5/8 myself and love it.
