I agree your voice is very good but you sing this song a lot more expressively than other people I've heard sing it...that's nice it feels like you're more passionate about the words...thank you
Jonnie had this happen to him many years ago and wanted to share the story. He hoped the guy who helped him that night would know this song was for him. Barbara
This was a great song. My daughter attends a clinic several times a week. This song content was used as a teaching tool. Thanks for a very encouraging song. pegpeg
I make my living writing songs, and this man influenced me as much or more than any other songwriter. I can remember how much he put his heart and soul into every word. I think of him, miss him and will remember him forever....particularly at six a.m. Ruth Ellsworth Carter
I am greatful to get a chance to see my cousin Jonnie sing this wonderful song he wrote. I am a strong believer in what he meant by these lyrics. Am I biases to prefer to hear Jonnie over Clay singing Chain of Love? There is no more important time in history when treating each other with loving kindness has been more needed and important. Merry Christmas cousin Barbara, I love you and thanks for the video.
Jonnie was my uncle and one of the most amazing people ive ever met. he wrote the most amazing and inspiring songs, i just wish more people knew about them, I am a singer and it is my dream to get these songs noticed because they are so wonderful. R.I.P Jonnie Barnett Kaye, i love you and i miss you
Jonnie Barnett, Dobie Gray, Keith Floyd and Rory Lee appear on this site through the generosity of Rama Jama, host of a weekly public television show in Monterey, Calif. and on the internet titled "All Things Creative". Check it out each week.
I first knew Jonnie as Johnnie Kaye. I introduced him to one of his idols, Don Gibson. I went on to become a Nashville artist, my last hit was "Bedroom Eyes" in 1978. I introduced him to his wife in 1969. She was an airline stewardess at that time. If (waterdancebmi) is this lady, let me know. I'll be checkin' into this same site to see if there's a response. I have an hour tape, great condition of Jonnie singing with his guitar. Remember "That's My Kind of Grease"?
Yes, it's me, Don Drumm! I didn't know how to get in touch with you and am so glad you wrote.
Jonnie and I moved to Nashville permanently in '84 and he died in '02. I miss him terribly. My book about him is being sold at a local bookseller and I have a book signing Jan. 5th. The old town school of folk music in Chicago also has a copy. I retired in '06 and am keeping his music alive. I hope you are well and where are you? Please keep in touch, love, Barbara
this song is so touching. Jonnie reminds me of my dad. this is definitely my favorite version of this song. :)

Jonnie was my husband and passed away a few mos. after this video. The song touched many people and it represented the way Jonnie felt
about helping others. It was recorded by Clay Walker in 2000, and then by Charlie Pride.
