Brian Lopes won this race. Lopes ended up outlasting his friend and rival Eric Carter in the final to win the individual event title at San Luis Obispo, but Carter earned the season championship based on this race and previous stops in New Jersey and Utah.

Melissa Buhl won the event title and the season championship for the women.

TreeMunchies, the track is (was?) near the bottom of the southern slope of Madonna Mountain (Cerro San Luis) in that little valley between Madonna and the smaller hill that the Madonna Inn butts up against. It's about 200 yards west of that big white conference center building for the Madonna Inn. I'm pretty sure it's on Madonna Inn private land, but you should be able to see what's left from the road up Madonna Mountain.

hey, i ride Madonna mountain a lot and i was not able to go this this event and i cant find where this track is (if it is still there). Can you tell me where on the mountain this race took place?
