That's a nice sounding tele that Nile has - teamed up with that analog stereo chorus from the Roland JC 120 in the back there, he sure makes that scratchy guitar sing!
Oh my, look at Leno, looks so young, LOL. I like this video a lot. I have that CD, don´t listen to it that much, mainly because the drummer doesn´t make it for me, but a nice record anyway. I like this video also for the fact that nobody seems to remember that CD´s used to come in those huge cardboard boxes such as Leno is holding at the beginning of the video. Now I have some proof to show, since I bought a lot of them with these nice boxes...
Can't say for sure. It could be they probably suffered burn out like so many acts. Wanna do something different and don't want to be "typecasted". This version they're singing on Leno is okay but it's kind of hollow without the strings or extra keys in the background. It gives it that full sound. But of course the musicianship was still tops, always!!!
I think their original keyboard player wasn't involved in this either. So the sound is dramatically different when done live. Still love 'em though. . , , ,
I was a bit confused by this also but Tony Thompson (drummer) and Bernard Edwards (bassist) are dead and have been for quite some time. So Leno must have aired this early 80's.
@bladesaint21 thanks for the update. I didn't know that Jay Leno was out in the 80s. Wow... nor did I know that these guys had passed. Thanks for informing me.
Its unreal how note perfect they all are, despite the usual thin sounding tv studio vibe that hampers all live performances the sheer class of this band still shines through. RIP Bernard.
The strings are the thing! Watching Bernard and Nile together is incredible!!

The great Bernard Edwards playing a Sadowsky bass with Chic...it won't get more New York vibes than that. Groovy.

The shortest one out front name is Jennifer Muldrow and I think the taller one name is Silver.

Alfa Anderson and Luci Martin were the original femmes, . . . precious they were. But these girls aren't bad either. Just prefer the orig :0)

Any idea on why Alfa Anderson and Luci Martin were replaced? Agreed I prefer the originals.

I totally agreed when you mentioned that the strings give this song a much fuller sound.

Did you know that John Taylor of Duran Duran has that long Gibson that Bernard usually played? It given to him is Bernard's will...PEACE.

You're wrong. It's a MusicMan Stingray Bass. Legend.

Thank you for the correction. I always thought that was a Gibson. PEACE.
