  • You should go back to that mall and ask people if they see dawn of the dead then tell them that zombies were roming around the mall

  • nice one... best zombie ever

  • Dont try to slide dowqn the escolator, now they have pegs that will tear yur ass to raw peices

  • Wow i cant believe he didnt talk about the corny music

  • I watched the original DotD when I was 6, I had nightmares for a long time.

But it's such a badass movie!

  • holy fucking shit i never knew this mall was used for the movie...fuck thats right near me

  • So how many people were there? I'm guessing 53,592...excluding James himself.

  • love your sagat shirt!!!!

  • Monroeville is outside of pittsburgh. About 20 mins outside of it. I should know. I grew up there

  • No, that can't be the Dawn Of The Dead mall because Frank West wasn't there.

  • !!!OMG!!! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THIS IS ?!?!

  • @HughJass370 monroeville .. I think it's somewhere outside of pittsburgh..

  • Interesting ! Absolutely interesting !! :)

Well, I've seen the film on a rerun more than just several times and always wondered if this Mall still existed.

    Arigatoh so much for the video ! And...someday, if I ever visited the place, I would like to enjoy "that" famous tour of Monroeville Mall which I heard is conducted by David Emge aka Steven ! :}

  • wait avgn was by the mall near me i cant believe i missed him

  • im from there

  • 1:05

  • What's the address for this mall and the remake mall? :?

  • Comment removed

  • really want to go to this mall someday. thumbs up if you agree

  • If I recall that is one of the few first indoor malls ever built. Great video!

  • dawn of the dead = kick ass

    dead rising = kick ass

is it even possible to go wrong sticking zombies in a mall? fucking genius! lol

  • Next should be a visit to the Lone Pine Mall from BTTF!

  • Wow. I grew up going to that mall...

  • Your videos make are amazing. If nostalgia was a drug you would be its number 1 dealer.

  • They look like they're having fun. I wish I could have fun like that.

  • 2:02 Just walk in, dude. The worst they'd do is ask you leave that part.

  • I'd have slid down the escalator.

  • I didn't know it was still around, for some reason i thought it was torn down ages ago. Great video.

  • I'm willing to bet that 9 out of 10 shoppers that go the Monroeville Mall know what was filmed there. If you aren't some gawking tourist you're parents or someone your parents know was in that movie.

  • nicely done lads,im amased its still pretty much the same after 30 years brilliant.im a massive fan of the film myself .i enjoyed your little tour.

  • cool the mall still standing after all this time

  • Durung Christmas this year i'm going shopping there with my grandma.

  • Who ever said that "nerds" are useless?

  • i really like how you guy's match up the Scene"s of ya favorite movie's to actual location's , hope to see more in future :)

  • been there

  • You guys forgot to find the gun shop.

  • @Anonymousnonexistent gun shop was never in the mall. it was shot elsewhere in the area and edited into the movie.

  • I hate things with zombiea, but is strictly drawn to things with them, is that normal, era jävla dumbommar?

  • there is a toy store there with a zombie museum you can walk through for free in the back. If your there again you should check it out.

  • OMG! This vid is so awesome! Jealous and proud....Love it...thanks Nerds!!! **kisses**....btw...which mall is this?

  • @Elizar777 It's the Monroeville Mall in Monroeville, Pa.

  • Cool video! Good Roger impression too - "we got this by the ass!!"

  • I live 15 minutes from there. I go there all the time.

  • Some day I will go there. Dawn of the Dead is my favorite movie

  • I remember watching endless amounts of AVGN reviews last year...then I realized I already seen them all, so I went to his other homemade videos, and when I noticed that he made a video about one of my favorite movies of all time (not just zombie movies...film in general)...I swear I had a nerdgasm.

Sometimes I want to visit Pittsburgh JUST to feel the atmosphere of their chilling Autumn. George Romero captured that feeling so well that it stuck with me forever. Malls now look like shelter to me.

  • WHERE DID THAT SEVERED HEAD THING COME FROM LOL!!!

  • Also the VW Scirocco driving inside the mall to shut the main doors. Unfortunately, the VW got crashed during the filming.

  • Hey i go to that mall of the time. I had no idea that anyone even film a movie there than the classic dawn of the dead. cool

  • You guys rock keep it up and I'll keep tuned. Your loyal subject joe matarese

  • they should of asked random people if they knew dawn of the dead was filmed there :P

  • I drove to that mall today just to look at all the sights in that movie as well, and then went to the Zombie Walk they hold in downtown Pitts which was insane! Had to drive 4 hours just to get to PA. Went to the Night Of The Living Dead cemetery and house as well and that was equally badassed.

  • Nice Tiger UPpercut shirt!

  • one day... one day i will visit that mall. dawn of the dead is a pure masterpiece, man. i got chills all over my back when i saw this video, i gotta go there, and when i do, i will listen to the dawn soundtrack.

  • i went there and all i could think is... "i wanna slide down the escillaters...."

  • One of the greatest films of all time. I'm moving back to Pennsylvania in a month and you bet your left nut that I'm gonna visit the shit out of this place. Satan.

  • omg peter the swat guy in this was such a boss.

  • what is the song in the video, It Sounds Like It Is From The Opening Of Dawn Of The Dead

  • Comment removed

  • No gun store :(

  • What I love about Monroeville Mall is some things in the mall, i.e. the marble columns, fountain, etc are still exactly the same 30 + years later.

  • @scorpioeddie84 really most stuff is not the same in this mall, its very different the lights and railings, stair cases, and several fountains have been removed in 2003

  • Awesome job guys!!! Great Roger impersonation b.t.w.

  • i actually slid down the elevator just like he did in the movie, i busted my face when i hit the bottom though.

  • In the corner of the mall just aside a enterance, there are 3 framed pictures about the filming one of them is a picture of George Romero. I have it on my video on my YT channel.

  • We got this man. WE GOT THIS BY THE AAAAAAAAAASSSSS

  • 5:45 is really funny XD

  • the movie is like left for dead

  • @madison1801 You mean Left 4 Dead is like the movie.

  • what's the newer one, where they leave on a boat??

  • @shrek740 Dawn of the dead remake 2004

  • 0:12 classic!

  • i saw george romero's dawn of the dead and those scenes are not in it

  • @OutridersGhost awww

  • Where is the mall

  • @Gamerking29 Monroville Pa

  • @thelivingstikfas I KNEW IT! I live 20 min from that mall and I love it!

  • what if zombies are real but ever time we survive the goverment eraise our memores???

  • @metrostationhottieXD Yeah because that is logical.

  • I love malls. I do, one time, i was in this mall up in Atlanta and there where these guys and they where like dancing for money and like... Ellis, is now the time?

  • umm...you guys are wandering around the mall too.

  • It was a sexy movie and these two guys are sexy guys for looking into the locations.

  • Sex on legs

  • wow. havent seen this. i gotta watch zombie movies.

  • This was so much better than the tour that was on the official "Ultimate" DVD set. Your video was not only great for me as a fan of this movie, but also as a local Pittsburgher who went to Monroeville Mall countless times in the exact era the movie was made. I loved the comparison between your current footage and the clips from the film.

  • @VamporthGaming uh... no. Respect some dude that plays games and fools markboys like you into buying his lame shit. No thanks fool. Keep playing sheep. His fame will fade. A one hit wonder fad that's long got stale and unfunny. Fuck that attention whore. He milks you people dry. It's pathetic.

  • amazing!! I want to go there.

  • i have to see that movie ive seen the 2004 remake but not the original O.O

  • @Dogfire45 shame on you

  • This looks alot like my mall.....where is this?

  • @thelivingstikfas Monroeville, PA

  • i wonder if the gun store is still there???

  • @Thranduilful There was actually never a gun store in the mall, those scenes were filmed somewhere else. I think the actual gun store in the movie was in downtown Pittsburgh. It's long gone, wherever it was.

  • Mike Matei ftw!

  • i think the only reason i did not like the remake, was because the lady had a zombie baby. need i say more

  • @liamrocksmysockstm The problem with remakes is that they took things too far

  • Awesome big fan of this movie

  • Superb, well done love the video

  • Nice job guys.

  • Dawn of the Dead and the remake of Dawn of the Dead are the best zombie movies ever.

  • this one of the only movies where the black guy DOES NOT die

    incredible

  • @poesidon2323

Good thing they changed the ending

  • @poesidon2323 same with day of the dead and land of the dead. its like romero tried to work against that cliche

  • @poesidon2323 LL Cool J in Deep Blue Sea. Of course Samuel L. Jackson ate it pretty bad.

  • @poesidon2323 Deep Blue Sea, shark movie, black religious Chef, he make shark go boom

  • @stephanbubbly well, in deep blue sea there are 2 black guys and one of them dies

  • @poesidon2323 well THAT one was an idiot for standing next to the water, in this case, the white people are the smart ones

  • @poesidon2323

I'd argue the original Night of the Living Dead, because it has an "everybody dies" ending.

  • @poesidon2323 but one does

  • I want to see the Willamete Mall...

  • Wow this is so cool. I go to this mall all the time. I been to all the places you pointed out. It would have been awesome to see you there.

  • This mall is now the mall home of the AVGN.

  • The remake mall is Yorkdale mall in Toronto

  • regular mall at day, zombie hang out by night

  • Where is that mall?

  • FUCK I wish I knew you were there! I live like 5 minutes away!

  • god damnit. i go there sometimes, i wish i would've seen you there

  • THAT SEVERED HEAD SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!

  • Have you ever been to ZombieFest? It's held in Pittsburgh in honor of the Monroeville Mall and the horror culture that Pittsburgh is known for. We're known as "Zombie Capital of the World." :D

Unfortunately, the event is no longer held at the Monroeville Mall, like the previous years (since we had so many people the mall couldn't hold us all!). It was located at the Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh for 2010. Awesome fun for all zombie lovers. :)

  • We got this men ... we got this by the ass !! Lmao that was too funny and he got the line very well too .

  • woooooow my favorite movie XD

  • Man those guys were lucky, I wanna do that someday.

  • Thanks everyone, this one's a really story, kind of match-mixe wrap up story, that is Y!U!C!K!

  • was at that mall today, more specifically the convention center on the side for the pittsburgh horror film convention. got the first zombie that appears in night of the living dead's autograph

  • Where exactly is the shopping mall? Awesome video btw :)

  • @Gamegodz76 Pittsburgh, i live right near it.

  • awesomeness!!!!!!!

  • i missed original dawn of the dead. i added it to my netflix que. Thanks James.

  • The glass doors would be accurate... it's still JC Penney.

  • can anyone tell me where avgn lives?

  • OMFG. I have been in that mall! OMG!!!

  • @CristineAng15 There's a store that serves as a museum there, its awesome.

  • it looks like Dead Rising

  • @TheToiletpaper101

Doesn't every mall look like it?

  • I wonder how many people have been thrown out of the mall over the years for attempting to do the infamous Roger sliding down the esculator trick. lol

  • @TheZombieKiller1983 I'm surprised they haven't installed those round things you usually see between escalators to prevent that.

  • @TheZombieKiller1983 apparently at least 50 :P

  • Next time I go here I'll have to look for this, never knew this before

  • what i wouldent give to be a zombie in a romaro film

  • I was just at this mall last weekend!

  • thumbs up for zombies with mullets!

  • God that music brings back memories...

TOM SAVINI ROCKIN THE FUCKIN MACHETE!

  • "WE GOT THIS BY THE ASS!"

  • @zZiiAndrewZz hence his name -_- besides he gets paid to do this

  • I hate Call of Duty: Black Ops but I am soooo psyched for the new zombie map because you can play as Robert Englund and and Danny Trejo PLUS THE ZOMBIE KING HIMSELF George Romero is the "zombie Boss" of the map. Like WHAAAAAAA??? I get to fight the father of modern gory zombie flicks??! Sign me up

  • I have been here so many times the first time I went here was when I was six and I was so excited to go I asked George Romero a few questions about it because he Is my grandpas friend because my grandpa met him in moon township Pennsylvania it's like 45 min from the monroeville mall and when he met him they were filming monkey shines now where it was filmed is a meadows horse racing thing but I did not know they filmed monkey shines 5min from my house it is so cool and he is from Pittsburgh

  • 80 People couldn't get to the juggernog

  • What's the song name?

  • 1 word EPIC

  • We got this by the ASS!!!!

  • to be updated in 2042

  • What a spin-out! Hardly anything has changed - even the fountain, and the Naturalizer shop, for God's sake. I'd offer that if you were to delve into the indoor garden, you'd find a lower intestinal tract, maybe a machette or three. This mall should reallly capitalise on the theme: have a Dawn Day, all-you-can-eat sausage sizzle or something. Naturalizer shoes should have two lifetime gaurantees, just incase you end up coming back, banging your mummified Converse pumps at the window. Good stuff!

  • There are many places- especially malls- that were once concentration camps w/ and w/o public knowledge.

  • what song are you playing from the start to 2;06

  • That's the mall for the 2004 dawn of the dead or 1978 one?

  • @102293 >> Likely the first, because they're not comparing anything from the remake. I'm going to guess the remake was made in Vancouver, but I'm just not that familar with.

  • @van8ryan yea probably

  • @102293 Did you even listen to what they said?

  • @102293 1978 one.

  • @NITEOWL1982 7. 7 people were kicked out because they slid on the escalator.

  • Yeah! I just bought Dawn of the Dead on BluRay 2 hours ago!

  • We got this man

WE GOT THIS BY THE ASSSSS!

  • Just watched Dawn of the dead for the first time yesterday amazing probaly my new favorite of all the Romero films I've seen.

  • honestly, its kinda creepy to say "hey dude from youtube, i could walk to your house!"

if i were james and i read that i would be creeped the fuck out 0.o

  • Definitely my favourite zombie movie , I wish I could visit that mall one day, but it's a little far, you know.... I'm from Italy! :D

  • thats awesome, i live in a small town outside of pittsburgh and i never knew it was filmed there

  • consumerism

  • I knew you were from Pittsburgh! That accent and all the rolling rock you drink.

  • That severed head effect at the end was kinda lame, but still good vid!

  • i thought you were going to the other mall in that one dawn of the dead movie from 2004
