i noticed the rear lights come on upon unlocking... which lights come on in the front (headlights, parking lights, the rings around the lights, a combination of those, etc.)?
You have to get the OEM alarm modules, install them, and have them programmed by your dealer. If it's not beeping like this, then you don't have an alarm system. If you have the red LED under your rear view, then your car is prewired for the alarm installation
You can get the beeping preferences programmed at the dealer. I think it runs about $50 but if it's still under warranty you might be able to coax them into doing it for free at an Inspection I or II.
The beep sounds like my moms BMW 530i

all years can get them, but they are not standard, but are optional when you buy they car or you can install it yourself. ($250)

I love this siren, every year BMW's sound gets more technical and clear. I like this better than the Benz sound.

i think the alarm sound is the same, however when locking/unlocking is nothing but the lamps flashing, 3 times lock 1 unlock

It is possible, You need to get the alarm modules, install them and have your dealer activate it's features.
