I have to say that I'm not a great fan of late Scott, as one might call it. But this song is incredibly beautiful and matched by a lovely video. Congratulations!
Tilt was one of my favorite albums ever, but the Drift is even on another level for me... Too bad there are such huge gaps between albums. I don't want to wait another 10 years for another masterpiece...
Well the puppet is especially developed in Carbon fibers, Kevlar, Silicone, new rubber tybes to make it analog... - cost a fortune, - but may be you like your favourite stockings with eyes? - or the Muppets?
Questa dolente superba composizione mi porta alle lacrime, mi dà autentica sofferenza. Eppure è tra le cose più alte che abbia mai ascolato. Scott Walker è un uomo grandissimo.
Oh dear, it seems like I'm the only one who didn't like this video. The song is one of my favourites, absolutely superb. And the puppetry is very good, if you like that kind of thing (I don't, I'm afraid). The problem is, they don't go together IMO. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, but it didn't. It was utterly boring. I only kept watching because I love the song. The puppet is gorgeous, though. Phwoar!
It seems like I'm in the minority, though, so don't be upset.
actually I didnt care for the puppetry either. the song stands on its own IMO. its not that its inappropriate necessarily to have puppetry, but I didnt care for the gestures or the setting, which seemed trite. I mean, it looks like its in a museum(prolly the one in new york which I cant think of its name at the moment)
- Well it is right guessings, it is a museum and it is antique statues and a newly produced and evoked carbonfiber, silicone, kevlar puppet/statue. The statues in the video is Egyptian, Roman e.g. you name it. Not in NY though, but in Copenhagen - called Glyptoteket. Founded by the father of the brewerie you may know Carlsberg!!!
I was struck by the silence of the puppet, statues and museum, contrasting strongly with the sound. The beautiful song fills the space, and reverberant voice sounds like it was recorded in such a stony place. Bravo.
I'm glad whenever I see someone who captures the truth of this music. This song probably has different images in each listner's mind. As for me, this film has something in common with my feeling; it makes me recall the days when I kept waiting for and then gave up 'my only dream'. years ago I heard my heart breaking with exactly the same sound as the puppet's breaking up here...
Your film has nothing in common with the images I have had in my head since first hearing what almost immediately became one of my favourite songs ever (and one which, like This Mortal Coil's "Song to the Siren", causes goosebumps on every listen( but you've captured the beauty, inscrutablity and timelessness very well.
A puppet with an existentialist crisis? Interesting symbolism. Scott Walker's piece deepens the feeling of 'not belonging somewhere' ever more. Thanks.
Thanks for posting this..maybe we're all creating our own universes that somehow will co-align with our cosmic central, well hell, just a spinal reflection o mine..listening to one of my favorite songwriters and singers..thanks one more time..;-)
Danke für das Video, das ist das beste Video, dass ich bis jetzt gesehen habe, das Album von Scott auch!

I think you'll find that he's alive and well and more influential than ever. The man is an original, and that matters more than ever these days.

No, I meant late period Scott, as in his oeuvre. And since I wrote that comment I've really got into Tilt.

cool, my mistake.Parts of the Drift are exceptional too.

I feel the same, he is one of the very very few musical artists, that is actually creating ART and new art as well... no not 10 years more Scott!

This is one of the best videos i've seen. Just one video like this is enough to justify Youtube...

Critisism is constructive and I use it in my work a lot. So far lasted 30 years in stagearts and it doesn't seem to end and you, not personal?

extremely odd. The song itself is odd, but this is almost surreal.

I was expecting some laughs but saw instead a very beautiful video. This would have been famous in the 80s or early 90s, no doubt.
