  • I worked on military ships as an electrician/tacker for a year (laidoff).

Torch fumes are horrific in enclosed spaces, it's chokes you, and you feel like your lungs are burning. Any kind of welding or torching on painted walls produces fumes that make your eyes water, and clog up your nose and lungs.

I can't imagine the hell those people must go through in their job. I wish there was something I could do about it.

  • Remember this the next time you go to file some bullshit grievance.

  • wow. Wow. I don't understand how people don't rise up and murder the wealthy?

  • @SOSTacoJohnson

    Cowardice and ignorance.

  • STFU! Jesus Christ! Shut up!

  • Sir, if you do not take what is yours ( what you deserve ) nobody is going to give it to you.

  • all fine and good to supply the worker with the gear but when the owner and government do agree to support this its almost useless.

  • While they're doing this, i'm on the computer arguing with youtubers... HMMM

  • Sooo sad :\

  • OOOoooOOhhhHHhh NOOOOooooOoooo

    THEY DONT HAVE SICK DAYYSS

WHATT AREEE THEYYY GOINNGGG TOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! = O

motherfucker this is a 3rd world country with a huge overpopulation problem, what do you expect

  • @Lucid91 are you kidding me? You arrogant piece of shit. While you're probably drinking a smoothie in your air conditioned house that you mom pays for, these people ( most just age 10-17 ) are working 12 hours a day in deadly conditions doing jobs that shorten there life spans by decades with no breaks or slacking off and only getting paid BARELY just enough to feed their selves and their family and continue to live in a run down shack. And I'm running out of characters so I'm sending you a PM.

  • @Lucid91 You know what I do to psychopaths. right?

  • @Lucid91

I expect their government to not allow this kind of abuse of a worker.

If you can't see how sick this is, I feel very sorry for you.

  • If you have the millions of dollars necessary to improve this process yourself, or an idea on how to better the working conditions yourself, please, they're all ears down there.

  • I'm guessing this guy sells respiratory masks.

  • It is good to bring more attention to wrongs like this and for this reason this is a good video, but I still voted it down for the G20 rant at the end. The G20 are not the only entities using and decomissioning ships and not all (hopefully not even a majority) of them use Bangaldeshi slaves. The responsibility lies with the Bangladeshi government and the entire international community, not just with the G20.

  • Found the coordinates:

    22.244994,91.825189

    in google maps.

  • You can see ant coloneis from space, not a big.

  • GET MIKE ROWE IN THERE.

  • @jfreeman hahaha

  • For anybody who thinks Unions have out lived their use.......

Is your life worth .35 cents a day?

  • @Strikepay What is life worth? Humans pollute and destroy, how much value can such life have?

  • @Strikepay

Unions in America are just mobsters with clubs.

This is not America my son.

This is Bangladesh, a country I was born in.

I know more about it than you could ever possibly learn in a hundred years.

Go eat some Canadian bacon, and FUCK OFF you ignorant Hockey pothead.

  • @Strikepay

AMEN. If it weren't for Unions, we in the U.S.A. would be working under terrible conditions and pay as well. Not that we don't have serious economic problems here.

  • What they do to live is sobering indeed. Economy of the world works that way. The poorest work very hard for little. If the world stopped sending them ships to break, perhaps they might not be able to feed their families at all. Which would be worse?...not sure. If the alternative is no work at all, many will continue to break ships. Too many willing (starving) workers. What alternative can the rest of the world offer? Sad that they don't have even basic safety gear, shoes, hardhat etc.

  • listen fooish half litarate chat gaw ghost ship breaking mohajon this is a warning foren amarican company interested in this sector they will bring robot and use cheap labour you guys if do not bring change never see money in fututer. american investor s r just waiting to control and take over your jungle business with modern technology. only deffer will be they later build steel industry and control all steel market. steel price will be sky high but you guys never see money.

  • BUMP...and tomorrow most of you gona go to shop and buy something made in china imported by Santa with his sledges. It's pretty sad that some of people are surprised by this video.

  • @martiniman34

If we go to the store to buy Chinese made junk it is because we don't have a choice.

The TRAITORS in Washington, D.C. have made this so.

  • So poor. I'm speriated...

  • this is really the truth. appreciate the motto behind this and I humbly request all the Occupational Physicians and ILO to work for the sufferers.

    Dr.Manoj Kumar

    Occupational Physician

  • work or starve. thats our planet.

  • @singas30

EXCEPT for the "ruling class." They don't work. They just kill working people off.

  • This narrator appeared in "The Corporation." He is among my heroes. He goes into sweatshops and busts balls that need busting.

  • just shows how diffren,t western world is but we can,t change the east we just have 2 accept it or we could worry about it spend our lives trying to change what is or carry on with our own lives and take advantage of our freedoms

  • @gtirboy1 BUT "taking advantage of our freedoms" gives us the freedom TO CHANGE the world. Without trying to do so, you are greedily exploiting your "freedoms" while others suffer, and that makes you a usurper of freedom. Come on, we can do it. WE can change the world. One love all~!

  • I've grown up very close to this ship breaking yard. Its just a death trap. I totally support the argument of this presenter. But wht will happen? nothing. Bcs the main problem for Bangladesh, its corrupted government. Most of local member of parliament are some how related to the ship breaking business, bcs its a mine for easy money. So they are busy to make their fortune from it. the Govt. ll not do nything, unless ILO put pressure on them. all the member of parliament are just bunch of B**

    unemployment rate 9.7%

states with double-digit unemployment as of Dec 09- 17

current path- high consumption, low wages, asset bubbles

watch battle in seattle the movie- WTO, free trade agreements, corporations, we have a lot of work ahead of us

  • tragic---

so many oranganizations could find common ground and rally around this and other realities around the globe. human rights, environmentalists, labor organizations, safety and health groups, child exploitation groups, green groups, churches and on and on--- someone needs to bring these groups together to get the word out- i guess it starts here, pass it on

  • What the fuck..wow thanks for making me aware. I have never heard of this. This is slavery. Who ever posted this very good job . This should be looked into..

  • Is this film also in Italian languages ?

  • Comment removed

  • This is a good "To the Point" video about a subject most people have never thought about. It is neither a liberal or conservative , but a fair assessment of the horrors in the far east breaking yards. Like the man says, it has more to do with greed and UN corruption that allows this kind of thing to go on. It's just one more reason why we should be sceptical of the UN and it's organisations that claim to champion labor rights, but all too often do nothing in the face of wreckless greed.

  • @Lex5576 He blamed the WTO and G20, not with a single word did he mention the UN.

  • @cbau338, sometimes people have no choice.

  • I was being COMPLETELY sarcastic. I hope people who voted me down didn't detect it. This is a common arguement people use to defend capitalism.

  • @cbau338, sorry. My sarcasm detector is not working properly ;)

  • @cbau338, are you serious??? it's our money that creates and sustains such exploitation! i guess, after fully breaking these people down, we can then go in to save their souls and convert them to christianity as that also only exploits misery in these parts of the world!

  • @et1074 I was being sarcastic, I do my best to not support crap like this.

  • For what reasons are there no other jobs in that area?

  • 'Sup Capitalism?

  • Once again, the NLC has uncovered labor abuses that most of us have never heard of and can hardly imagine. Thanks for the excellent video report!

  • Have you identified which shipping companies are sending ships here? Public shaming would probably be quite effective in ending this practice if the companies operate anywhere there is a decent internet penetration. If these ships stop coming, then what other occupations might these people pursue? Fishing? While these conditions are awful, these men have to feed their families somehow. You can't take away their livelihood without a superior replacement. A life of farming may be better than this.

  • this is exactly what you get for supporting the rich elitist pukes of the world ... who produce absolutely nothing and they're are truly the CONSUMERS of the world, not we the people ... Wake the fuck

  • The realy good people that create these conditions are the pillars of society.

  • Yea, But at least the rich can get even richer.

  • Excellent report, I had never heard of this issue before
