@xtremeboy91 How would a simcity movie make sense? Simcity has no story or ending. It's a completely open ended game series where you create everything yourself.
Tottally nostalgic, i really miss this kind of game...it wasn't because we were young, but they are really good, so much better than the games from today....
Though I'm sure most of us never made it past basic city (before having bowser stomp through the place) these were some of the happiest gaming hours of my life. While most other SNES games just wanted me to kill something, SimCity made me use my head... and I've never forgotten the feeling.
This music brings back memories of a time when video games used to be pieces of cultural expression. Every game was unique in its own sense and interpreted by developers as well as the community. Precious memories... Ironic how it still has that melancholic tone, as if it was a prediction for the future of gaming where it's all about profit.
@Craidren My good fella from youtube... Don't give up fait!
Of course, they need money to survive, but it's not like that! There are tons of good games from this crysis generation, you just have to look on the right place.
Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, Nethack.... Lots of people do games cuz they like, and thanks to the internet, they don't need fukken publicity.
@Craidren LOL, Maxis isn't - Maxis is -dead- ; EA bought maxis and helped them find new jobs outside of maxis and pretty much just uses maxis to release the sims/dark spore and spore games now - Dont blame maxis - Blame EA ; Only reason maxdis let themselves get bought out is because they were on the brink of bankruptcy.
@Craidren No kidding! Now gaming is designed to be an addiction. Kids believe their hyper-customized characters actually matter. They're immersed in high-production-value, single-player environments that give them instructions what to do. Tap OOO to get out of the jaws of a dinosaur, then you win a medal for it. What happened to innocent gaming that relaxed the mind, and just chilling w/ a can of coke? Or multiplayer gaming that wasn't stats-obsessed, but for the sake of fun and laughter?
Hehehe, I never made it far in this game, ever. I just liked to build up a bunch and then have bowser and other shit destroy it :P Mind you I was 6 the last time I played, but still, it was fun. :D
unfortunatly that perfectopia is dead and sold out - ea has RUINED maxis and has even let a completely different COMPANY make the most recent 'sim city' game - it WASNT in ANY WAY/SHAPE or FORM made by or under any direction of maxis or will wright at all.
essentially - we will be lucky if we ever see another TRUE sim city ever again. EA bought it out and killed it.
R.i.P Sim City - also will wright announced in april 2009 he was LEAVING Maxis/Ea.
Sim city ended at Sim City 3000 Unlimited IMO :/ I'll miss the good ol' days. I never really cared for Sim City 4 or Societies. It got a tad too complicated.
IMO The "Real" Maxis games have Heart and Emotion + Feeling in them + in how they were made- (sorta like how home made is better than store bought) - i feel like sc3000 was the last one to have that maxis feel. after that sc4 was a lot less meaningful and such - almost like it was made more for the marketplace than for the player. complicationwise - it wasn't to bad outside of the fact going bankrupt was a hell of a lot easier in sc4 for some reason - outside of that it seemed more plastic.
@KaiXi333 same i dnt complain ea. IM A WORKER OF EA. Man. Will Wright Last Game Was Spore. He Stopped Making Spore Expansion Packs Before Leaving Stupid Fun CLub.
No fuckin doubt man. I remember getting my SNES on Christmas 1991, and borriwing this game from the guy down the street. 18 years already..Christ! No better time in gaming however, then the 16 bit era . Especially as it came to a close with games like Chrono Trigger, DKC2, FF3, so we're rocking these amazing games and having our minds blown by the incoming Sega Saturn and Playstation. 1994-1996, what a time Itll NEVER be the same in gaming.
@rattlehead1999 No kidding! Now gaming is designed to be an addiction. Kids believe their hyper-customized characters actually matter. adorava ligar meu snes e jogar esse fantastico jogo, lembro que competia com meus vizinhos quem tinha a melhor cidade! bons tempos que a unica preocupação era se divertir! ahh saudade...
this song,,, hmm.... is so nostalgic for me... maybe because i spent half of my childhood playing games like this one.. and sim city makes me remenber the time that i just didn't think in things that i have to do, problems with work.. stress... ohh... a time that will never come back again...
I honestly think Facebook ripped off sim city when they made cityville.

Oh shush... Stop complaining about EA!
Sim City 4 was a FANTASTIC game when properly modified and rigged. People are still creating stuff with it AFTER SIX YEARS.
Although Will Wright won't make any more city simulators, he inspired a GENERATION of citybuilding games and simulations in general.
We'll stand on his shoulders in the next generation...
New citybuilding games are already coming out... Don't be so damn glum!
