I personally think if you bought a 380,000 Lamborghini and then compared it to a Honda S2000 for 35,000 and poured close to 100,000 into it wouldnt it be a super car as well? do we compare cars by HP? or Pricetags? yes but a supercar is a car that was made with turbos and such. not haveing to up grade it to make it a supercar, you can drop a 100g's into any car but its not a ture supercar if you have to do so. it would be called a tuner or a supertuned car.

It's the level of engineering and craftsmanship that goes into building a car that make's it a super car. The 2004 Ford Cobra SVT came with a supercharger, and the Nissan 300ZX came with twin turbos, but they were not super cars or exotics. They were performance coupes.

And these cars do have a tendency to be more expensive due to the engineering and quality that goes into each and every one of them. You could put $100,000 into a Corolla and make it faster than some of these super cars, maybe even more luxurious. But it still would just be a Corolla, not a super car.

The way I see it, there's only one tier of supercars or exotics (which would be the one classified as a 3 in your scale), these include the SSC Ultimate Aero TT (world's fastest production car), Saleen S7, Buggatti Veyron, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Ferrari Enzo, Ford GT, Dodge Viper, etc. The rest Ford GT500, Ford Cobra SVT, Nissan 300ZX, etc. are just performance coupes. Not sure what category the NSX falls under, since doesn't quite have super car performance from the factory...

@dodge69874 i agree with the svt but a kenne bell? you do realize that a roots style blower increases the air temps more than a centrifugal style blower and slicks would totally suck on a highway due to soft sidewalls unless you used road race slicks which have pitiful ride due to too hard a sidewall. x-pipe is good but do an open exhaust instead of mufflers
