  • welcome back sera! i love your vids and you are one of my favs on youtube! you inspire me to grow my hair super long like you grew yours! i always wanted waist length hair since i was about 7, but you give me no excuse to grow my hair to my waist and longer! keep those vids coming :-)

  • @hevinamber

    Aww, thanks I will. :-)

  • @Sera2544 great! cant wait! :-)

  • OMG YOUR HAIR IS AMAZING! how often do u straighten your hair? how often do u put it in braids/ twists. i am of the opinion that our hair thrives when in traditional african styles (sans fake hair & not too tight) like braids. i think i'm going on a hybrid journey bc i started texlaxing & now figure what's the point? if i want it straight i have 2 use tools anyway. i'm going to maintain my textures 4 natural/texlaxed/relaxed as long as possible see ? happens! thanx 4 inspiring me & hhj!

  • @fanatic709

    1-2xs per month....

...my hair thrives with braids & twists but right now I don't have the patience to braid my hair besides chunky braids....

I hope you have a healthy hair journey as well. I guessing your texlaxed text shouldn't be too different from your natural texture so maintenance shouldn't be too crazy as far a taming the textures as long as your chemically treated hair is not fraile. Blessings :-)

  • @Sera2544 thanx.... that's what i'm thinking.. abt the texture differences. my texlaxed hair is like a buffer between the 2 extremes. so i'm not setting an end transition date & keep it going indefinitely... see if it's really true what they say abt whether the textures can coexist or not & trim as usually. yeah braids & twists r time consuming. i'm on a twist reg right now of 2-3 wks on 1 wk off. i enjoy watching your journey & hope my hair is as long as yours someday soon!

  • it completely baffles me that you dont have more views! your vids are so inspiring

  • your hair is so beautiful :) love your videos<3

  • I'm trying to grow my nape also can you please tell me what you've found helpful in doing that.

And of course your hair is beautiful

  • @luvncurlz

Massaging & making sure to condition that area well (often overlooked in my case anyways) & also not tying my scarf too tight. Hope this helps. :-)

  • wow my hair is similar to yours: has a crazy way of shrinking when wet lol! I'm trying to find a way to keep my hair detangled. its in simple braids of 15 now almost WL. how often do you detangle? weekly, bi-weekly, monthly? I love the outcome.keep it up!

  • @ManiSimone

Bi-weekly. Congrats, waist length is just around the corner! :-)

  • how often do you flatiron your hair?

  • BEAUTIFUL....TRULY AN INSPIRATION.

  • @shikster9

    Thanks :-)

  • Glad to see you back.

  • @WellnessVerandah

    Thank you!

  • Do you prefer the maxiglide? I used to have a sedu, but it did nothing for me. My old maxiglide broke.

  • @natrlchallenge

I actually prefer the Sedu. :-) (my Maxiglide broke too...)

  • Happy New Year! Great to see u back.

  • @kharyzma4u

Happy New Year to you too! Hope all is well. :-)

  • @godschildyes

    :-) thanks.

  • You hair is beautiful. I never thought of straightening this way, thanks for sharing.

I like that the end result wasn't bone straight either.

  • patience is key

  • GOSH, You Have Some Beautiful Hair!

I Just Went Natural A Few Months Ago... You Inspire Me!

  • Wow! are hair is beautiful... so how many inches of hair do you have and how long have you been natural... I am a year Natural with about 6inches of hair...:)

  • Thanks so much. I've been using the Now brand and applying it every night. You're definitely right in that I was layering it. Thanks. I'll try your suggestion to apply on clarified scalp only. Truly appreciate it.

  • @Jamdown1990

You are very welcome. Glad I could help. :-)

  • This is not related to straightening, but I have a question about castor oil--I know it's one of your staple products... I use it on my scalp and while I like it, it somehow causes flaking. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I just put it on my fingers and rub it into my scalp... Love your hair by the way and you're quite the inspiration for me (9mths post big chop--while a labor of love, I'm enjoying my hair).

  • @Jamdown1990

What brand of castor oil are you using & how much? I use Black Jamaican Castor Oil & I section my hair into 4 sections & use a drop for each section apply with my finger tips, lightly massaging. I haven't experienced flaking so I would suggest using a different brand/less castor oil& also make sure your apply on clean scalp & not layered on with other hair products youmay have already applied to your scalp. HTH :-)

  • @Sera2544 How often do you apply the castor oil to your scalp. Do you apply it everyday or a couple times a week.

  • @ebochica

    1/wk

  • I just love your buns!!! Gorgeous hair!

  • @ThatDoll25

    Thanks! :-)

  • Look here...I am so excited to see that you have posted a video, that I "liked" the bad boy without even viewing it yet, lol!

  • @lanicert

    Aww, thanks! :-)

  • i so feel u on the thin ends...our hair is about the same n i am wl and me ends r horrible...what r u doing to urs?

  • @simplyblessed05

Babying them & taking off about 3/4" of an inch whenever I trim (as opposed to 1/4 an -1/2"inch).

  • Gorgeous Beautiful Hair... I see so many Black Woman with Long Hair Now.. This is sooo Awesome..

  • Where in Africa are you from again? it is nice to see you back.

  • @cumensu

    Sierra Leone ;-) thanks.

  • @Sera2544, I'm from the DRC.

  • @cumensu

Cool, Central Africa! Go Congo! Lol

  • @Sera2544, thank you! same to you! :) now if only our brothers and sisters in Africa would be more united!

  • @cumensu

    :-) you are welcome.

...there is strength in unity. We can only hope and pray that that becomes a reality.

  • Is there any reason you used a water based instead of an oil based heat protectant? Is is it so your hair would be lighter? And which oil based heat protectant did you use? grape seed oil?

  • @cumensu

I get a less weighted down look with a water-based protectant.

Oil-based heat protectants I've tried include Sally's Ion Heat Protection (anti-drizzle solutions line); Smooth Shine Polishing Heat Protect; grapeseed oil; Organics Smoother Polisher.

  • lovely. have you given up the fotki from now on?

  • @mwedzi

Will be loading some pics, but not as frequently.

  • Glad 2 see a vid from u. Your hair looks awesome. Can't wait to see your update!

  • You have a very sweet spirit. Great Video!

  • @PetUniqueLLC

    Aww, thanks. :-)

  • Happy New Year! Great video as always. It's amazing to watch you finger detangle you hair. I really need master this process and force myself to do this instead of picking up a comb.

  • @ReniiNaturalistaDiva

Happy New Year to you as well.

...yeah finger detangling is the best way to go in my opinion. I prefer it to combing, but I do utilize combs, I just try not to overdo it. ;-)

  • Wow beautiful healthy hair! Thanks for sharing!

  • Beautiful hair! I hope to see you doing more videos.

  • Grape seed oil is an awesome heat protect. Have you ever tried it?

  • @natrlchallenge

Yes I have a couple of times.

  • Questions! Questions! Questions!

    1. How long does it take from start to finish to straighten your hair at that length?

    2. What's the water-based heat protectant you use? Would you recommended it?

    3. How often do you straighten your hair and does it affect your texture when not straightened?

Thank you Sera. You are such an inspiration!!!

  • Your such an inspiration!

  • glad your back

  • Glad you are back! Beautiful as always.

  • How did u airdry/ stretch the hair? And post-flat iron, were u able to comb it and did it have movement? Thnx.

  • @msdivajoy

Hair was gently combed post air drying then flat ironed; however, I was NOT able to comb my hair in one single sweep post flat ironing because my hair wasn't super detangled.... :-/

  • @msdivajoy

...yes there's movement, but it due to the length/weight...if my hair was shorter, I think there would be little to no movement. Hope that answers your questions. :-)

  • Your hair is soooo.....gourgeous

  • Good to see a video from you. I just thought of you yesterday, and I hope your new "project" is coming together well :-].

  • @cocoapeach

Thanks, doing fine. Hope you are doing well. :-)

  • Yay....girl you know you have to do a full hair update...pretty please :D

  • @lacrymosa777

what would you like me to address in my full hair update? I can address settbacks & slight change to regimen, but if there's anythingelse you would like me to talk about, please let me know. :-)

  • @Sera2544 prob what you said..setbacks....updated regimen.....and like how you wear your hair, just in protective styles or out anytime?........any products or methods you tried and didnt like and why....how long does it take to flat iron your hair and why you do it.....how do you plan on thickening your ends as you said..............and i dont know what else lol...hope youunderstan dmy questions

  • @lacrymosa777

Ok I will keep all that in mind for video ;-) Thanks!

  • this vid makes me want to straighten my hair and i dont even like straightening my hair
