  • wow..so much easier then all that bullshit on the forums

  • i just bought an lg optimus 2x running on froyo 2.2

can i just root it like that or do i need to do something

before i atempt to root it?

  • wooops nvm just figured it out lol

  • Thumbs up'd! btw, I'm trying to get music files from my computer to the phone but it keeps telling me 'access denied' so i was wondering if rooting my device will allow me to put on whatever music files i want, does anyone know?

  • It says *daemon not running. Starting it now on port 5037* the hell's that?

  • This is a nub Question. But my LG 2X won't Mount WTF. What is the problem?

  • really starting to piss me off i have done everything and still freezes after daemon started succesfully

  • I was told with this method I would need to re input my apn after root, is this true and where do i find my apn?

  • sir you made my day .....i've easly rooted my 970 black :D thx

  • I did everything exactly to your specifications, and I do not see superuser.

  • Can you install Gingerbread AFTER rooting a Froyo G2X?

  • There is a version of super one click for 2.3.4 now! Just as easy as in your video. Check it out!

  • @ubernaga the "left speaker" is the Mic. There's actually not 2 speakers on the g2x. Its just the phones design to be even on the bottom. You can listen to any g2x put your ear up to it and you will see it doesn't work on any g2x. Fyi

  • what does rooting do to a phone? help please

  • @sameedirfan rooting uses tricks to change the privileges on your phone. when you root a phone you install so called superuser privileges. the system is android which is essentially linux (which is essentially unix) so you can use linux commands and you will have full control over the operating system - as opposed to just the limited access google wants you to have. some apps require rooting. you don't have to replace the rom or firmware (although you can)

  • DOES THIS WORKS ON MY LG G2X 2.3?? or just on FROYO??

  • can this root the samsung exhibit 4g ?

  • whenever i press "root" it says starting ADB server and then daemon not running. starting now in port 5037, daemon started successfully. Then the program freezes and says not responding. Help anyone?

  • @KlAyst3R same thing.. anyone?

  • @KlAyst3R I have the same problem.

  • @KlAyst3R Hi hopefully you´ve already got an answer, but here is a solution that worked for me. I had the same problem, superoneclick freezed after the first two steps. I went to lg´s homepage, and downloaded a new software update. Rebooted the phone, connected it to the pc, made sure USB-debugging was on, and i made sure i didn´t mount the sd card. Opened superoneclick (2.3.3) and pressed root. hope this have helped! AND PLEASE THUMB´S UP SO EVERYONE SEES THIS! peace/ Ralle624 :)

  • i just updated mine to 2.3.4... i didn't have to format so all my settings are the same and i still have superuser... do i have to re-root? if so how do i do it without flashing?

  • is this perm root?

  • Does it seem like your left speaker is broken? ;p

  • Is there anyway i can root phone from sd.i cant put the charger cable in it is broken :(

  • This does not work for 2.3.3 anyone please link me

  • after i press USB debugging , when i plug in the USB , it dint show the USB connected , why ? i need ur help , cos my LG2X really laggy T,T

  • Does it actually take long? Did you skip that long part? Cause I end up with (not responding) when I try.

  • What do I do after the root to get a newer version of my Android? Can u help me? I just want a good update to my phone!

    Thanks in advance/Gabbe

  • Hey! Can you make a video on how to install CM7.1 stable now that it's out? I JUST got a G2X (Froyo) last week and I want to install CM7.1 so I can get better battery life!

Please? People have been sending me to XDA but I want a video tutorial, so can you please make one? If not, then I guess I'll have to follow your "nightly" tutorial.

  • @sk8rked The process should be EXACTLY the same as the nightly video (assuming you download the stable ROM of course, and not a nightly). I am not sure if it includes the Google Apps though. If not, check out my video tutorial for installing them as well. Let me know if you have an issue. Good luck!

  • @2TooManyHobbies Alright! Thanks for answering, I was really nervous! :D

  • Does this work on the LG Thrill 4g (3-D) Just got it..its on android 2.2

  • Does it work with gingerbread??

  • @rosh543 Not exactly. I updated the video description above for Gingerbread root instructions.

  • What rom do u currently use?

  • @gamerdragon89 I am currently running EaglesBlood 2.2.2 Froyo.

  • @2TooManyHobbies Ok

I recently managed to flash an stock rom (root cant be unrooted by superoneclick cause of freeze of the program) half the way and then got an error, and now i cant seem to get android back to my half bricked phone... allways stays at the recoverymode with half the android inside... do u know a good easy way to unbrick and install 2.2 on my optimus 2x? (p990)

  • waiting on device. send me info please ?

  • I keep getting stuck at step 5 and I have tmobile.. And Im using the LG g2x like you are in your video... Please help! Send me info to Alexis405baby@gmai.com Thanks

  • Does this also unlock the phone so you can use on any carrier

  • @sheheryarXYZ No this will not unlock the phone like that.

  • @sheheryarXYZ Superoneclick only enables ur phone to overclock the device, change whatever yyou want and install other roms (modifications of android like cyanogenmod7 witch is android 2.3.4)

  • mine keeps getting stuck on step five

  • i have tried everything and nothing is working on my computer, i need help because im tired of waiting for the update.

  • @apexisfree Do you have the correct drivers installed? Doesn't hurt to reinstall them. Did you right-click run as admin? Also, there is a trick you can try if this happens, I sent you a link to the thread in a PM.

  • @2TooManyHobbies the software stops responding at step #6 rooting device... any advice? thanks

  • @iluvc0mpton Is it your computer that is not responding or the phone?

  • @2TooManyHobbies my computer!

  • Omg it fucking worked i'm getting rid of fucking motoblur omgggggggggg finallyyyyyy

lol, not having full conrol of my phone was exasperating me.

  • Help! I try to root my Lg optimus 2x and it works but hen when i install setcpu or bloatfreezer for example it says that its not rooted. I got the superuser app and tried to re-root it again but the same problem happens.

Theres something strange with the program too because when i use it it stops working sometimes and i lose my internet connection so i need to restart the computer.

PLEASE HELP! I want it to be rooted

  • Hey im trying to do this on my LG Optimus One and i keep getting stuck on the Running psneuter part. Any help? I have USB debugging and i dont have my SD mounted either. I dont think i am doing anything wrong

  • I have not rooted an Optimus One before, but it looks like there are two options to choose from while rooting it with SuperOneClick: psneuter or rageagainstthecage. If one doesn't work, try the other (remember I have no experience here so do this at your own risk, for I don't know what is involved in the process). Also, make sure you have the correct drivers installed for your phone. Good luck!

  • you say not to mount sd card but do you turn on usb storage?

  • @GadOlinium1 The button says 'Turn on USB storage' and that means the same thing as mounting the SD card to your computer. Sorry if it was confusing.

  • @2TooManyHobbies what happen if i mount the usb and click on superoneclick? cause i did just that and it kept on showing up ADN HTC synce?? something why? help please!! thanks.

  • i donated $2...lol

  • can i unroot my g2x my baseband is all messed up and my version is still 2.2.2 help me

  • @vldude93 Weird. I have never actually unrooted a phone yet, but there is an option in SuperOneClick to do it, and I am guessing it is pretty painless. I dont think simply rooting can mess up the baseband though. Did you try to update it or install other things?

  • @2TooManyHobbies thanks for the reply =] and i hit the unroot but nothing really changed? my baseband is a long list of numbers like this(M6600A-SCAUNTZ-2.0.9720t 1 [Mar 27 2011] and so on is this normal? sorry im new to rooting thanks again for the reply and will haveing busy box ruin my warranty?

  • @vldude93 Yea thats the correct baseband. When you say your baseband is screwed up, do you mean you can no longer make and receive calls?

When you hit unroot did it go through its procedure and tell you it was successfull? Does the Superuser app still appear on your phone?

  • @2TooManyHobbies NO superuser is gone and my phone is fine apparently i have cynogen mod 3.2.0.7 or something on my phone any help on how to return to stock =/

  • @vldude93 I made a video for returning to stock. You should check it out.

  • @2TooManyHobbies no nothing else and my phone loses 4g fast when i switch from wifi? any suggestions

  • i did what @MrKillmen said ,.it works :D except for reinstalling the driver i didnt do that

but thank u guys and thank you 2TooManyHobbies, somebdy said before if u root it the before make the phone slower , so far i feel the same speed, so now i rooted the phone can i use the tmobile hot spot tethering free of charge or do i have to use another app ?

  • @IRoronoa Simply rooting the phone will not make it slower.

As for WiFi teathering, I have not done it, but I am pretty sure you would still need an app for it. Or, if you have any interest in installing CyanogenMod 7, it has the app built in.

  • wen i hit root ...it starts but it say waiting for phone..and gets stuck...what am i doing wrong

  • @MrKillmen Try reinstalling the drivers. Did you right-click SuperOneClick and choose 'Run As Administrator' (for Win7 and Vista)? If so, some people do experience this problem still. What you can try is:

    1. Close the rooting program. Turn off your phone (keeping it still plugged in). Open the rooting program and click root. Then turn on your phone and see if it continues.

    2. Find RobEcu123's comment below and try that.

Let me know if you still have problems.

  • Can the SD card be mounted after rooting?

  • @jkim412 Yes, after you root the device you can then mount and unmount the micro SD card as you could before.

  • Can you mount the SD card after rooting?

  • Can you pelease make a video with the phone overcloked? with set cpu

  • @BULIN22 Sure, I am pretty busy until Monday or Tuesday. Check back around then.

  • @BULIN22 Sorry, still pretty busy. I will try to work on this in the next week or so.

  • just says "waiting for device..." - any thoughts?

  • @zygis16 Do you have the drivers installed on your computer for the G2x? What operating system are you using? Also, be sure you are using SuperOneClick 1.9.1 or later.

  • @zygis16 Also, you might try what RobEcu123 has suggested in his comment here if you are sure the drivers are installed correctly.

  • @2TooManyHobbies nvm, i got it to work like 2 minutes after this comment... thanks anyway

  • everytime i connet it to the computer it say i need to locate and install driver software can u help with this please?

  • @bmac2432 I sent you a message with the link.

  • for some reason when i did it the way you show superone click would freeze, if anyone else runs into this problem this is what you do ( taken from xda!!!): Turn USB Debugging OFF Click Root When it says: Waiting for Device, Turn USB Debugging ON It'll now run RATC When it says: Starting ADB Server... Turn USB Debugging OFF Turn USB Debugging ON Turn USB Debugging OFF All BEFORE it says "Waiting for device..." again: then everything well be like you see in the video.
  • @RobEcu123 Thanks for adding that. Since I didn't run into any problems, I didn't think to add it. Hope it helps someone :)

  • Just bought the phone today and went from a sprint evo to a t-mobile g2x, not sure I like it I miss the evo look and my touch has the evo look too. So far I miss that the most! What does this hack do for me? Very new to this whole thing

  • @JonathanGuntert Root access basically removes all of the limitations put on the phone and its operating system by the manufacturer. In essence it becomes what a Linux computer should be (Android is a version of Linux), ultimate tweakability and customization. For example, you can use different 'apps' to increase battery life, overclock the cpu, let you create backups of your entire phone in case it crashes, lets you install apps on your memory card instead of just on the phone, and so much more

  • @JonathanGuntert Sorry, I ran out of typing room. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • yes, me jelly

  • awesome!!!

  • Ya know i was thinking about not rooting my phone until the year mark, just to make everything fresh and all........coming from a G1 and all.

But, that is WAY to easy, lol I remember the G1 had to press the camera power buttons, the menu power buttons, pray to God you don't Brick.....ah technology

  • @bcbales Yea, it is pretty easy to do... Hopefully this will let us tweak for improved battery life and of course a little overclocking :)
