  • Copeland!!! he eats!...)))))

  • did the drummer eat a full muffin close to the end

  • talk about a power trio.....thanks Police, we luv ya brahs!

  • does copeland turn on a sort of delay on his drummics in the middle of the song or something?

  • strong brahs, stron !

  • @mrrockthing This doesn't sound anything the album version. YouTube's made the video lag a bit. But if he was lip syncing would he be moving away from the mic to breath?

  • How many chords did Andy Summers and Sting want to miss along with faltering vocally upon the entry to every chorus! Still, I love it.

  • The live versions in those period were heaps better than the studio - theres no one like them.

  • Is Stewart not the best drummer?

  • I never wrote this and somehow hate to do so, because it had been written so often and is not possible, but i feel that way: I wish I had been there!

  • @mrrockthing ??????????

  • Man, they were GREAT. Perhaps the best singles band of the '75-'85 period. Too bad their albums are so inconsistent.

  • my favorite group, the best exponent of music. just one big problem: the police is finish. why?

  • Andy seems to be a little drugged....

  • Sting looks like Neil Patrick Harris :D

  • Copeland couldn't wait 15 seconds for the song to end to stuff his face with what I'd like to believe is chocolate cake? Either he is extremely impatient or he's a show-off. Or hypoglycemic.

  • @Gflapcamel haha laughed hard :D well the music is coming from the inside, right? something´s gotta compensate

  • Wonder how the American hooked up with the two Brits. Probably why there was so much tension in the band. Such different personalities.

  • which song is the one where they go EE OH!

  • @Tigerlilli134 It's called Regatta de Blanc. On the album called Regatta de Blanc =D

  • @the80sareawesome ahahahha watermelon

  • LOOO MAXIMOOO THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the more I look.... and dig... for all these underground ..... Sting hung them high and dry

  • no more classifying

  • this is a reggae beat

  • Steward Copeland is one of the best human beings that I seen ever : D

  • GoD-DAMMN!

  • Ah!The 80`sthe decade of variety.probably never see that again at least not in my lifetime

  • My favorite band since 1981!!!

  • How would you classify the police`s music? Reggae /Rock or Rock/reggae.They`re one of kind and I like that,in my top 50 for sure! Just listening to the drumming kind of tires you out Kick ass group

  • @RPGBone My #1!

  • @RPGBone Ska---ish. Copeland = underrated.

  • Lmfao at Copeland eating what looks like a roast beef sandwich mid-performance at 5:45

  • Impressionante!!!!!!!AMAZING!!!!!

  • With 15 years i love and how old i am now 18 :D I LOVE THE BAND

  • sounds like eminem meets lil wayne or gee you sent my wordsmiths

  • now which way to go?

  • Sting is the mutt's nuts in this. I wish I could have been there!

  • This still never ceases to amaze. I'm glad I was coherent during this era--even if I was a little one in kindergarten. I still remember!

  • It is necessary to recognize it Stewart Copeland up to nowadays is a genius beyond the music.

  • Haha, the watermelon! Stewart's a badass.

  • copeland....el mas grande.....¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • One of my favorite songs by The Police

  • How did he switch from Matched to Traditional grip one handed? He's too good.

  • @shlakenjake He plays both grips, but the traditional one is his main grip

  • mmm...cake

  • Wow, that was probably the hottest live version I've seen of this. Could do without that damn whistle, though.

  • wow, now these are musicians.

  • The band more completely than ever, despite having only three members.

    But geniuses are three:

Stewart with beats that no one had ever dared to do, technique and perfection, know just what I did.

Andy, the guitarist with agility and creativity, the inventor of some effects, and the famous candied notes.

And Sting, lead singer with the right voice to the rhythm and the right band, and there's still a show piece on the bass.A best band in the world in my opinion.

  • lol. you gotta love it. freaking Stewart... chomping down on watermelon in the middle of the song.... didn't miss a beat!

  • How the hell is Sting playing bass and his hands aren't even on the instrument? Is the bass he's wearing for show?

  • @ChristForte There are 2 bass notes during the verses that are played on open strings, so, yes for a good part of the verse, his left hand wouldn't need to be on the neck at all.

  • @ChristForte its called open strings

  • @ChristForte serious? he is playing two notes during that time, both which are on open strings... dude, the police play live, very well, and all the time!

  • you don't ever want to see me again, your brother's gonna kill me and he's six feet ten

  • don't slow down?? sting's insulting stewart :D

  • @fmulder1989 I think he was telling Summers not to slow down because I think he was dragging slightly.

  • The watermelon part made my day, what an awesome group!

  • la cagoo copeland :O

  • Stewart must have really been craving that watermelon if he couldn't wait 20 seconds for the song to be over. Good thing he has the talent to multitask.

  • They were the f***king best at making real music with a rock and roll jam! Even in the "punk "80's". They really had the magic! I think Sting is a genius!

  • What Kind of bass is that?

  • It's a Ibanez...

  • regatta de blanc is so awesome

  • DANG wish I could have been there.

  • who the heck was playing the bass ??

  • @ermollejuo Jay Leno.

  • The crowd is awesome.

  • YES! They go into Regatta de Blanc!!!!!!!

  • Is this any relation to the new Sean Birrane Movie?

  • Can someone tell me where and when this was? Cheers

  • @Nigelxman , it's in Holland man, look at the info top right corner....the country where they had their first break through.

  • My mistake. I stupidly managed to miss that. Cheers

  • stings says dont slow down and stewart goes haywire

  • @Eltroim lol I think that used to happen a lot. :-)

  • Stewart is Fantastic!!! One of the best....

  • that bass is a tobias? someone tell me please

  • Nope, itz a custom-order Ibanez Musician.

  • its a ibanez

  • I love Stewart 's energy , and he is a great drummer

  • Sorry Nat, I meant a +

  • That's ok ; ]

  • A talent none the less. Thanks for the post

  • Recording sounds pretty fretty to me....I will just enjoy it. They do no differant than anyone else.

  • This is pure Police-spirit!

  • Jesus--Sting was hot as crap, Stewart Copeland was a friggin' freight train on those drums, and Andy's all wigged out on the guitar. Sometimes I miss my grammar school days...

  • Did I see stewart grab a bite of cake while drumming ??

  • yeah but I think it is a water melon he is eating there. :D

  • @JesusChrist5000

That's watermelon Stewart is eating not cake I just now noticed but still he didn't miss a beat.......that guy is my drum guru!

  • @JesusChrist5000 lol he had a big handful too

  • @JesusChrist5000 Piece of cake!! xD

  • awesome band awesome drummer

  • awesome drummer awesome drummer

  • THE POLICE 最高!

  • From 1:00 to 1:10 I hear a bass line that can't be done free hand.....or can it be?

  • its D and G, so perfectly possible

  • The Ultimate Fan here since May, 1981..... Fucking unreal, phenomenal, tight band..... The Boys were the absolute shit and my favourite band ever.................................

  • 6' 10"

  • Damn, I love Stewart!!!

  • I see you sent my letters back, and my LP records and they're all scratched... *gg*

Great performance and a very nice crowd too!

  • I wish I was born in the 60's... so to be a screming teen on the crowd THE POLICE ROOOCKS!!!!!

you can call it lack of confidence...

    = )

  • ....but to carry on living doesn't make no seeenseee

  • like the energy, kinetic

  • AAAAHHAHAHHAHA

    Stewart is eating a brownie!!!

    HAHAHAHAHH

    HE is the KING!!!

  • Was Stewart Eating a brownie 5:43..

  • I love his DRUMMING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks simple but it's really not easy to play...

  • With what instrument?

  • The drums part... I play drums and we used to play that song with my band. The rhythm switches are not easy.

  • Everything that Stewart plays is not easy. That's why he is one of the best.

  • That must be why... But once you manage to play it well... man it rocks !!

  • If you play like Stewart, than you must be a great drummer

  • what a great clip. this dingy grainy material is the best ever. you can take the (digital) and stick it. i love this stuff......

  • hihi i was born on this day 7/9/79

  • bob marley xD

  • they are fantastic!

  • Sting was and still is one of the hottest men on earth!

  • So true. But he was absolutely best - and hottest! - in the early 80's. Sadly, Trudie Styler has destroyed him...

  • why do you think that she has destroyed him?

  • I see her as the Yoko of the 80's I guess. She broke up his marriage AND the Police. And now when you see a Sting interview, she does all the talking and he just sits next to her like a puppet. Here on youtube there is an awful Live earth interview with them that perfectly illustrates this. Compare that to the way he speaks and acts in the 80's and the difference is huge! Really sad...

  • oh really :(

    I should watch this interview.

I noticed that you can see her very often at his side, for example in the video for My funny friend and me.

  • I can't seem to link it from here but just write "Sting+Trudie+Live earth" as search criteria and it comes right up. It's the NBC interview. Just awful... If you're into conspiracies there can be more to this (her being his handler etc) - cause it's not normal for him to (still) be so totally brainwashed by her... Sting could have had any woman he wanted - why would he go for Trudie? Oh, you should compare this interview to another btw to really see the difference. Watch this first though.

  • I'm w/ you, I saw them live at their peak. It was my favourite band. Sting was a selfish and vain guy, but after that marriage, he became distant and impossible to deal with. His brother and Stewart C. are patient guys.,.

  • How interesting... I'm jealous of that live concert you were at though. I just can't stand Trudie Styler. In interviews now, Sting just sit there silent while she is doing all the talking... : ( So, I guess I blame her...

  • I don't know wich I prefere: the arrogant Sting of yesterday or the kinda Trudie's "slave" of today. In musical terms yesterday's Sting was better. I saw them in Lisbon at the last concert of Zenyatta Mondatta tour. They weer kings of the world and I was thin... :)

  • Ha, ha : ) I was a teenager in the 80's but more into Depeche Mode then, so I saw them in concert instead... Their peak too, so I'm glad I was around those days to see it. It's a shame I didn't get to see the Police too though... I really didn't know that Sting was that arrogant as you say, I just thought he was hot. On the other hand; I've always liked bad boys ... ; )

  • Well, the fact he is good looking, plus all the media atention on a early age, made him believe, at some point, he was an "angel"! Goodness gracious me, what an imature fellow :) Did you know he never sang a song composed by Andy or Stewart? Masoko Tanga, Behind my Camel, Be My Girl, Sally, he didn't want the others to shine! It's a shame, a so talented fella...

  • he did sing darkness.. stewart wrote that.

  • you got that right.

  • Omega Man was written by Andy

  • yes, later on Police's career. You see, Sting told his mates do take a break. It lasted some 20+ years. Too much success for him.

  • best drummer ever its that simple..

  • He has every piece on his drumset moving at the same time- without a doubt the greatest ever.

  • Correction, greatest drummer in a pop band ever.

Definitely has more taste then Neil Peart(As far as I'm concerned).

    But what about Vinnie?!

  • true dat

  • @scorpiosview

    Got that right.

  • oops! Stewart is in fact eating a watermelon, according to another comment

he always rocks, but it seems that Sting tells him not to slow down here

  • TOP NOTCH!!!!!!!!!

Sting looks unbelievably cool, Andy concentrates hard and Stewart just amazes and ... eats chocolate lol

This fills me with so much energy

Fine fine video. Thanx a lot, featherysunshine

  • Great! Makes me realize what I missed not getting to see them in the old days. They all look adorable and sound wonderful.

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!
