  • Absolute great guitar work..phil n steve. maybe the best

  • I love this song! Def Leppard will always be one of my favorite bands ever!!!!! <3 them!!!! 8)

  • intro pa lang, astig na !

    def leppard forever !!

  • if you heard the words of this song you will know how deep this song really is.

  • this is still hard core

  • i love this song.hard to believe this song didn't get much airplay

  • The cover reminds me of Alice Cooper's 'Dada' album. It's a skull.

  • i always thought this song had a kashmirish sound to it, kinda epic rare for def leppard

  • who's the stupid dumb ass who keeps beeing the only one disliking DL's songs??

  • OMFL 1st Time I hear this song! I love it!!!

  • Definitely one of their best

  • no video... :(

  • believe it or not this song was supposed to be in the hysteria album

  • @axman15 yeah a couple of songs on this record were supposed to be on hysteria. glad they at least made it on a record.

  • this song \m/s

  • Favorite Def Leppard song. I cannot believe they didnt put this on Hysteria.

  • @skulduggery1515 think about it, if they did it would've only been an instrumental right? which is great cus sorry disinegrate (spelling) this would've been better.. but im glad they waited and joe wrote lyrics for the song and here we are with the finished product :)

  • awesome guitar solo 3:27 to 4:11, sums up the entire song.

  • @lemmewatchutube

I know Steve's solos were to die for... no one could do it like him <3 RIP White Lightning

  • I think Retro-Active was a way of saying: Look, this is the music that we can play but we are never going to again...that's too bad. Great song!! Never played live!!!

  • Without a doubt, the most underrated Def Leppard song. Absolutely mind blowing guitars and dynamic shifts.

  • this song is exactly is a clearly example of what all leppard fans missed, kick ass riffs and BALLS.

  • @pachor2 I couldn't agree more! I really, really miss Def Leppard's edgier sound, and wish they hadn't abandoned it. :( They would have been respected far more as a great hard rock band had they made more songs like this. This is Leppard showing what they can really do, and it seems like such a waste of their talent for them to keep making the poppier stuff. They allowed Mutt too much control over their music imo. I love the crawling, menacing vibe of this song, Leppard at their rare best! xD

  • THIS IS MUSIC!!

  • Thats not Steve Clark playing the lead its Phil Collen and here are the giveaways. I never saw Steve Clark playing a guitar with a whammy bar and I dont believe Steve knew too much about diminished arpeggios. Steve was mostly a rythym guitarist and no disrespect to him cause he was a great rythym player, but there are too many things in this lead that suggest it's not him. Phil is way more fluent than steve playing lead.

  • @buff10805 . Listen to gods of war.

  • @skulduggery1515 Actually on the cd booklet it tells you who is playing the leads and solo's. I believe phil had the main solo and steve had the outro solo. Either way both are awesome guitarists and this is a badass song. Though I admit Steve is the reason I started playing guitar.

  • @dedmeetguitar

Phil had the 1st solo and Steve had the 2nd.... Love Fractured Love Steve's solo in that ROCKS<3 STeve does have the subtle solos in the song though like at 3:16

  • @buff10805

But I believe Steve is a much better player because he wasn't perfect he liked to screw around with guitar parts and play whatever the hell he wanted to play.

  • @buff10805 good point...but if you watch In The Round...Steve plays on a Les Paul which had a trem fitted ;) You can see it in the Gods of War video...and he even plays what looks to be a Firebird or something right at the beginning...and that's got a trem too... have a look dude ;)

  • @buff10805 This is Phill on the solo, he tried to do it in Steves style...I remember reading that. However, Steve DID do some amazing solos, like Bringin on the Heartbreak. Better than Phil.

  • @pflo99 Phils pretty hard to beat, dude. kinda splittin hairs arent ya?

  • I love this album, but I don't really like the cover. This is my second favorite def leppard song, while Tear It Down (Both Versions) is my favorite.

  • Way Pro

  • se discuten exelent

  • Fantastic song. They should be playing this live, instead of shit like "Make Love Like a Man", catchy, but really freaking stupid and why they get the lame identity from people who don't listen to their stuff.

Seriously, they should be playing stuff like this now. For the past few years it's been the same greatest hits setlist like every night. In 2007 you had Mirror Mirror thrown in there, which was nice, but that was about it, not much has changed.

  • A hauntingly beautiful song, with amazing lyrics, guitars, lead and backing vocals, and that's an understatement!

  • Steve's outro is fucking amazing

  • 2:44 thru 3:26 is one of the most dark, lonely, dreary vibes I think I've ever heard recorded. Therefore I love it!!!

  • I have to agree with JudasPriestSlayer that its one of the best Leppard songs ever.

Puts me into a trance when I hear it

  • Desert song......paper sun and go........three of the best songs in the lep´s albums....its a shame they not playing this in concert.

    def leppard forever!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing Desert song ¡¡¡¡

  • Man i haven't heard this in so long. Forgot how fucking good this song was/is. They put this album out a little too early, and were really on to something with this.

  • great song, but the one after it rocks too.

  • A classic song, well by 2010 anyway, but one of my favorite behind Paper Sun from the Euphoria album. One of my top Def Leppard's favs.

  • @darkshadow83073 paper sun rocks. A prefect 'up yours' to my ex that's for sure. lol

  • One of the greatest songs from def leppard...top 5

  • shako- ur soooo right my friend.

  • One of the best Lep albums/most under-rated albums. Viv completely slays any of Steve Clark's past solos on this one....

  • @bkc122179 ....Uh what!?!....

  • @bkc122179 Euhh, Viv had nothing to do with this song whatsoever. It's the last DL song featuring Steve Clark's songwriting AND playing.

  • @bkc122179 . This is not Viv. This is steve, and as much as I like Vivian as a guitar player, Steve Kicks his ass.

  • One of the best Lep albums/most under-rated albums

  • who plays the guitar solo in this?? steve or phil???

  • This is Leps hardest (and one of their very best) discs. WOW.. Man this album kicks ass.

  • @DEJAVIEW2007 yes it does!!! i freakin love this song!!

  • This song was originally laid down during the Hysteria sessions... when they were toying with the idea of going in a much heavier direction.... that's why it is probably their best song since that album... and the only one that comes close after that is Scar from the otherwise suckfest album X.

  • Possibly my favorite Def Leppard song EVER!!! Def top 5...

  • My favorite post-Hysteria song!

  • for those who wish to see what evil is after them.... info wars.com

  • I felt I wanna kill someone.... Ooooooh God, I like the feeling of being blindly controlled by music.

  • @1313KHALID While listening to this song, I created the main character to my first novel: Demon Rising. A vigilante with a very bad attitude.

  • only the lonely will stand!! im holding the world in my hand! i got to believe!!

  • one of there best for sure!!!

  • de la chuche su mare

  • Possibly one of the most under rated albums in rock history! Great songs, great cover art, nuff said!

  • oh wow... i forgot...

  • this song is pretty cool i like this songs more than the new songs

  • There are no words for how much I love this song. It is the story of my teens...

  • @skatoolaki i was 17 bro

  • def leppards best song by far, even though they had the tune years, it took joe a few to get the lyrics finished, joe is unbelieveable on this. come on DL give us more like this and less main stream.

  • Great song and GREAT ending.

  • best intro riff ever!!

  • This got cut from HYSTERIA but "Exciteable" made it in?? :-O

  • I've got to be...

  • Darkness of this song helped to inspire a character for my first novel.

  • This song sounds to come right from the desert, from some silent location.

  • @PersonOfBook it comes from inside

  • Def leppard's best song in my opinion!

  • @JudasPriestSlayer agree 100%

  • I love this song, but sadly it's the only song I like off this album.

  • Love it!! Not typical Def Lepp..showing another side..more than basic rock!!

  • Is this Def Leppard´s?I thought the most of songs on Retro Active was covers.DEF LEPPARD ROCKS!!!!

  • Can't Argue With That

  • Ugh, This is all written material from Def Leppard.

The Album YEAH are covers of some of the songs and bands/singers they admire.

  • The song Action from this album is actually made by Sweet and Only After Dark is made by Mick Ronson,so maybe the rest of the songs is Def Leppard´s:)

  • Yes true, my mistake I forgot about them 2 songs.

  • this song was wroten in Portugal, in a rest day, joe elliot wrote that lyrics

  • A great song!! The rock stations don't play this song enough. Rock on in heaven Steve Clark!!!

  • Sorry i forgot to mention Fractured Love as well.

  • And if you were lucky enough to find them back when Hysteria came out, Some of these songs were released as singles to the Hysteria Album. Ride into the Sun, Desert Song, I wanna be your Hero, Ring of Fire were all written originally for Hysteria.

  • Most of these songs, with the exception of a few were shelved during the Hysteria sessions. These were songs that were decided against including on the Album and there simply was not enough room for them. Nevertheless, Awesome and timeless songs from The Clark Era!!!!

  • i cant believe this song was unreleashed. Its great!!!!i cant stop wondering why all these great songs in retro active wer buried....a lost horizon in an ocean of flames

  • Def Leppard 4 Life!

  • No guitar cover here? lol

  • this album cover is so epic..if you see from far away it's look like a skeleton but if you look closely ...he..he..you wrong..

  • It's from a 100 year old painting by Charles Gilbert called All Is Vanity.

  • Def Leppard managed to keep the great 80's music alive in the 90's!

  • This song simply crushes everything else Lep has ever done.

  • I know. It's amazing.

  • steve died before this album was put out.

  • daniel, this entire album, or most of it, is a collection of outtakes that never made it on "Hysteria". This album contains songs recorded and intended for Hysteria, but for some reason or another were rejected from the final album. Thus for most of this album we are listening to Steve.

  • I thought this song was recorded during the Pyromania sessions?

  • Exactly, and definitely better than Vivian Campbell, no offense, he's ok, but Steve was just brilliant.

  • Is this Phil or Steve on the solo?

  • A lost horizon in an ocean of flames, Great line I wonder whta drugs they were on at the time when he wrote the lyrics

  • oh i would also love to know the albums name =P

  • retro active ;)

  • Proof that even Leppard's B-sides are better than most bands A's. I agree this was better than Adrenalize but I thought Slang was underappreciated to put it mildly.

  • @shakobenmyerz My favorite album hands down. It is much better than Adrenalize. Had this come out in 1992, it would have easily outsold Adrenalize.

  • @batmanjwo I think I recall you mentioning that a long time ago. If not, I can understand where you'd get the idea for your main character, it's one of their best songs IMO.

  • @shakobenmyerz because Slang is a piece of horse shit thats why , their worst album next to X other than that their albums are kickass

  • I remember purchasing this album in 1993 (I think?) and how I didn't expect it to be as awesome as it was. It was far and away better than Adrenalize and WAY WAY better than Slang, and just goes to show how even Def Leppard's "throwaway" songs with Steve Clark are way better than anything they've done with Vivian Campbell.

  • actually, phil was the big influence behind slang.

  • Uhm, how does this pertain to anything I've said?

  • and the solo 3:45 is soooooo goooood

  • omg my dad was playing this song in the car and i am absolutly amazed by this album also the guitar solo is legendry!

  • one of the best disc of Rock and also one of the best covers of all time! ! !

  • Awesome song! At 3:50 When I'd listen to it on my pc I used to always think my pc was giving me a notification error. lol

  • Retro Active, great album, go buy it

  • Does anyone else think that has a similar vibe to White Lightning?

  • Pure Steve this was supposed to be on Hysteria but they tossed it.

  • I like, I like!

  • i gotta get this album steve clark was awesome
