  • The greatest sounding guitarists know how to melt with their ax. They feel so in touch and it resonates with the listener. Betty always melted with her voice. Got hooked on her when I bought her 1st album.

  • this is sexy stuff...

  • @chea943

WHY ARE YOU TYPING IN CAPS!? MUSIC IS SUFFERING PERIOD! WE KNOW! :3

  • Comment removed

  • @chea943 What are you talking about? This is far from true. Modern country music is not much different from gangsta rap. The line “as long as I’m alive and breathing they won’t take my guns” could as easily have been written by Jay-Z as by Justin Moore. So the next time a conservative commentator deplores the latest pop-culture offense against style, intelligence and good morals, he needs to add the Dukes of Hazard to the indictment.

  • @chea943 what a very unfounded and immature overgeneralization... like many on this site

  • BASS!!!!

  • @flipczech Yes, bass, and not just any bass. It is Larry Graham, the inventor of funk bass, that we hear playing!

  • SI.... ES UNA CANCIÓN PARA AMAR XP

  • now drunk people sing ? strange era we live in

  • Betty is the queen of funk.

All modern r n b (apart from Missy Elliot of course) is utter rubbish.

Long live Betty. You set the standard, lyrically and musically.

  • Ida Maria should cover this song... and for folks who don't agree with me I say that's just my opinion so don't bug my nutz !

  • MULTIPLE EARGASM.

  • dopee & sexy funkk

  • Larry Graham doesn't play bass. He is bass. His voice, his instrument. Everything is about the bottom.

  • I cannot believe I have lived this long and never heard this. I feel terribly wronged.

  • I'm looking for live footage of Betty. If anyone knows where I can find some, could you please let me know?

  • Oh Betty! So hot.

  • Ober ein Korn pleasssssseeeee

  • Betty Fucken Davis. How a woman gets her groove back

  • @TigreCorazon Betty 'Funken' Davis more like ; )

  • Larry's bass should be gold plated.

  • The sexiest song ever fuckin' written!!!

  • @rodentcafeteria True!

  • This is one of the best tracks I've ever heard! Why haven't I ever heard this on the radio?

  • I still have my 1973 Album. This was my jam back in the day. This and the Nasty Girl Album were always my personal favorites. Glad to see people are still listening and keeping the beat alive!!!! LONG LIVE THE FUNK!!

  • @mwtcat7375 HELL YEAH...

  • hmm i've been noticing that i can't find any Betty Davis performances if anyone knows of any I would definitely like to know (: thanks in Adavance Guys!

  • @tedavis83 Me too. Please contact me.

  • this album is so nasty. I love it.

  • This brings back good memories - and sounds better than my old album - thanks! Regards, The '62 Mathew St. Band (1 Man-Full Group Retro)

  • she is just awesome..was just a kid when i bought my first album..Betty Davis...loved the whole album...but my faves were: 1) Steppin' in her I. Miller shoes 2) If I'm In Luck I Might Get Picked Up!... somes divas of 2day do give her props..lil kim, macy gray, kelis...bring back the days....

  • @wtwallace love her too! My fave is steppin in her I. Miller shoes! My mom introduced her to me in high school....the late nineties , the record is somewhere in the house but I want it on my Ipod :)

  • Betty never fails to wow me. I was listening to Miles' 'A Tribute to Jack Johnson' and somehow thought of Betty because she was the muse behind Bitches Brew, which Miles nearly called Witches Brew

  • This was the the good ole days back in the 70's when people danced to whatever the DJ played. She was in my top 10 female funky musicians along with Maxayn and Suzi Quatro

  • Wow, now that I have listened to this song, I need to go have my after-sex cigarette.

  • This song is more senual and sexual than anything any of the numerous hip hop whores are doing today, i.e., Lil Kim and all the rest. Betty Davis takes those bitches to school.

  • Incredible!

  • AAAAAAwesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is exactly how I felt about my husband when we first started dating! I love this song.

  • Balls out funk from the woman 'too wild and young' for her husband Miles that turned him on to Sly and Hendrix!

  • Do any videotapes or DVD's exist of Betty Davis performing live? I'd love to see what she was like on stage.

  • @rodentcafeteria me tooooo

  • a prime example of the golden era of recording and funk from the SF Bay Area - Larry Graham on bass!

  • @Artsboretum that's right, Brudda Graham in d'house on this one.

  • fodástica essa mulher

  • Beyonce doesn't have shit on Betty Davis.

  • Now that's FUNKY !

  • "I'd have you eatin your ego/I'd make you pocket your pride". HOT DAMN! You better work! These female performers ain't got shit on this OG! LOL!

  • This is from an era when artists could be individuals...before record companies only wanted clones of Beyonce, Chirs Brown and whatever aluminum foiled-tooth rapper is popular this week. There is only ONE Betty Davis, and she's one of the best.

  • why do you feel the need to put that online like anyone gives a f@ck

  • Well, t'was idle remark designed to pass the time and possibly amuse in it's non arse kissing honesty but now it's snowballing then sod ya. Oh dear.

  • @GoonerAli

    i agree. shoots.

  • it's a cryin' shame no one makes music like this anymore. She's the best, what a voice, what a band!!!!!

  • betty's dream band and everbody else's --gregg errico and larry graham from sly+the family stone on bass and drums, neal schon from Santana on guitar, hershall happiness from graham central station on keys, pointer sisters on backgrounds.

  • On the album also are Sylvester, members of Soneground, Chocolat of GCS, and members of Tower of Power. Unreal!

  • The Pointer Sister are doing it on background vocals.

  • that guitar is really screaming towards the end . great song

  • heard this on a beatminerz track with talib kweli...funky as!!!

  • yup...on beatminerz's brace 4 impak album

  • I actually ended up w/ TWO copies of this vinyl LP? Another LP must be missing from my crates. LoL

  • hot dropping bass!

  • Betty's funk is deep!

  • This tune is the deepest funk I have ever heard!!! the bass playing is hypnotic!!

Where did this woman come from?? powerful.

  • The bass player was in fact Larry Graham, The Larry Graham

  • wow she is one funkyy woman

  • Larry Graham on bass

  • She was married to jazz great Miles Davis

  • scrawl

  • i love it...

more the cover...that lenny kravitz does..

    its super hot :D

  • nice i like it :D hehe

  • I'm diggin' the sound upon first listen

  • listening to this makes me think today's music has gone backwards.

  • what do you mean?

  • i mean music today is not half as interesting to me as it was in the 70s.

  • oh, definitely

  • You don't listen to the right stuff, music is as good if not better but it is a lot harder to find.

  • dad spotted

  • @roscoegino - had to compare to figure that out?

  • @roscoegino I totally agree.

  • @roscoegino TRUE dude...sad but...TRUE

  • @roscoegino Yes I too agree that there is a lot of bull shit coming out these days, but there was a lot of that coming out in 1973 as well. On the other hand, there truely is some legendary music that is being created these days. So all you people that are into this stuff, stop thinking about "today's" music so pessimistically and dig a little deeper than your local FM station. You will see that there are still plenty of people exploring the boundaries of creativity and musical integrity today

  • @rocknrollhoochiekoo1 nice one - it's true! there'll always be pap and there's always be diamonds. the pap makes the diamonds AAALL the more beautiful x

  • @rocknrollhoochiekoo1 , you tell those lazy bastards, dig deeper, dig harder and keep on digging , its down there some-where , so funk the lot of you

  • @rocknrollhoochiekoo1 abso-fucking-lutely. right on the money. jesus christ, do people like to complain about todays music. that shits annoying.

  • @rocknrollhoochiekoo1 Althought it's true what you say, you can't argue with the FACT that people like Aretha Franklin (chubby) or Ray Charles (blind) could never make it as big as they did in today's values. Beyond independent scenes, in the main scene, versus the variety of labels that there was in the past feeding the stations, now you have TWO mayors (Sony and Universal) compiting for profit. Concentration it's just wrong in every field, but it's being awful for music.

  • @roscoegino

Not backwards. we're just used to a totally different style of music.

Today's generation (for the most part) values whats popular rather than what's of substance.

Betty came out blazin - out on the prowl, flaunting her sexuality and being proud of it.

More female artists could take a hint from Betty. drop the plastic act and come RAW.

  • @roscoegino Turn off the radio, and the MTV, dig a little and I bet you'll find some amazing music.

  • Awesome Bass playing by Larry Graham!

  • @SmedleySmorganoff

Now I know where les claypool gets his inspiration

  • @axwell21 That's Larry Graham on bass!!!

  • Need to put up a vid for COME TAKE ME by Betty

  • he made a dope ass tune out of this man, wow

  • Incredibly funqee... What the hell went wrong since then?

  • Awesome song! Bass player is Larry Graham, you can see him play sometime with Prince or Maceo Parker.. very good musicans, like many from the 70's area.

  • hot 1

  • I dont wannalove you!

  • love this bassline... love the groove... love the vocals... love the nastay low down dirty funk of this track!

  • I'm soooo hot right now and oddly enough I just broke up with a guy recently and I have a suspicion that much of what Betty is singing about is the reason why he broke it off........I got too close.

  • Damn this song is freakin' beautiful !!! Get 'em Betty!! :)

  • New may you dig this !

  • why is everyone saying Larry Graham was on this , from what I've read its people from Larry Graham's, SLy stone's , etc.

  • She's is funky.

  • yeah, she's fucking me now :)))

  • Nice music; I got this on Twitter; thanks; Mrstardom on twitter; get a press release for your music; for more information, send me an inbox message!

  • fuck twitter.

  • now thats some baaaaaaaaadddd music. so badass, i walk it while i am listening. oh betty, you're a freak. ;D, haha

  • damn man, who's on the bass?

  • Larry Graham me thinks.

  • "Ain't No Bout A Doubt It" ---Only Larry Graham could have pulled off a bass line that funky during the early 70s. It is in fact him on bass, black nylon strings and all one of his infamous jazz basses.

  • Yes, Yes Yall - just heard of this song...today...(on Twitter) in 2009!!!! and it's a damn shame our music and culture isn't preserved and given continuity so each new generation could come to appreciate it.

  • I just heard it today to courtesy of twitter!!! Follow me *wink* the name is SinnamonS

  • most def honey.

  • Awesome!

  • didn't krs one sample the bassline for we're still number one?

  • what a pimp

  • larry's bass got the mumps.

  • Larry Graham was killin' on bass.

  • was that really larry graham?

  • Yes, Larry mentioned or mentions in plenty of interviews that he was a sideman for Betty after leaving FamStone and staring GCS. If you look up the album and musicians, you see his name listed. Listen very carefully to the cut, and you'll easily realize--Graham was the only bass player that played thumping and plucking in that manner during that timeframe. After all, he did start it. LOL.

  • that was Larry a on bass and Gregg on drums, both from Sly. Thats why its so tight.

  • Graham!Erico,freddie,pointer sisters,-All star funk!

  • Wish she were still performing because this sounds as good today as it did 35 years ago, maybe better. And certainly she was ahead of her time-a strong woman was not so easily accepted in the Nixon years.

  • I got this message via Youtube last year summer she was performing somewhere at some festival in California

  • Was it true (that she was performing)?

  • No sorry, that was wrong. I got a message that her early records were reissued or do you say republished , what ever

  • this song goes soooooooo hard!!!!!!

  • Larry Graham on bass!! Hell yeah, break us off a piece!
